In The Abyss As A Toon Character

Chapter 71: Chapter 61 Who are you?!

He began imagining Dante in his usual blue pegasus form as if it were a human. Finding a scarily high coincidence, the vivid image of the pegasus started appearing in that familiar girl, sending a shiver down Daniel's spine.

"Dante...?" Daniel stammered, his voice barely a whisper, as he struggled to comprehend the inexplicable connection between the girl before him and his missing friend.

The blue glow of a screen appeared in front of him, and an unread message from his friend was waiting to be opened. Daniel read the message and saw a cryptic message: "..."

Without further ado, Daniel found himself kneeling beside the girl, giving her the two potions while he took the ice crystal out. The girl continued to violently cough a lot of blood till tears threatened to spill from her eyes.

Her voice teetering on the edge of breaking completely from the physical damage. She slowly yelled, "FUCK...! YOU...!" Her faint yell was a mixture of pain, anger, and desperation, the kind that comes from a betrayal.

Daniel was extremely perplexed. Hasn't he just saved her? Why is she so angry about it?

The rainbow-haired girl took a deep breath. Her tone was unexpectedly calm despite the fiery intensity of her earlier outburst. "Saying that I'm not angry would be an understatement," She muttered, her voice fluttering with suppressed emotion, "Second, at least fucking bring me to a cozier place... I just wanna drink and sleep after this..."

Even if he healed from the lesser injuries, Dante's body still bore the scars of the ordeal being completely pulverized from the blood bomb and the ice shards, so right now, Dante wasn't in the best condition to walk.

As Daniel cradled the girl who was supposed to be his friend, he couldn't help but notice the unexpected heaviness. Her body pressed against his chest. Daniel seriously considered the usage of aura just to carry her, but without realizing it, Daniel muttered, "Heavy..."

While somehow managing to drink alcohol with the highly severe damage, Dante replied, mildly irritated, "I literally increased my stats, and my body mass grew" Dante gave a big shot to the expensive wine, then continued, "Bitch, it's not every day that you polymorph into a different body."

Daniel adjusted his grip on the girl, his arms cradling her bloodied form as she leaned heavily against him. Because her breath was shallow against his shoulder, Daniel was about to ask if he should take a potion out. But abruptly, a violent cough racked her body, expelling a condensed mass of blood, splattering him in dark red blood.

The girl muttered weakly, her voice tinged with frustration and pain. "Shit... Why potions don't it work like in fantasy? Shouldn't they be the miraculous thing that instantly heals you and not be affected by-"

*BLEUGH* Another wave of sickness overcame her. She puked again, but this time, it only drenched the floor with a fresh wave of blood and bile, staining the pristine tiles on the ground.

Dante, attempting to lighten the grim atmosphere, murmured between coughs, "I knew what I was doing by drinking when I'm healing, but I couldn't-" his voice strained with discomfort. "Wait, I think I'm gonna throw up again..." Dante didn't say anything and covered his mouth with one of his hands.

After a minute of walking, Daniel turned to his friend just to see him almost drunk, and with his eyes sparkling, Daniel sighed and said, "You can tell me the entire history later... and from the look in your eyes, it isn't going to be a short one."

Dante replied while laughing, "You know me fucking too well! And that's a bit scary... or maybe just the drunken me? anyway"

Daniel began walking to the nearest place where he could leave him while Dante continued to delve into the events he lived hours ago, "All started with me appearing in a forest where one of the objects I carried suddenly...-"

They arrived at a recreation area, and Daniel gently settled Dante onto a nearby bed, allowing him to continue his story uninterrupted. Dante's words painted a vivid picture in Daniel's head. He was surprisingly good at this, "Then a stronger guy appeared that cut his hand in an instant, which probably started an epic fight between them because when I woke up, the entire city was reduced to ashes!"

Intrigued, Daniel inquired, "Who won?"

Dante replied, "Probably the slashy guy, someone who looked similar to him was still alive!

Daniel looked thoughtful, and Dante asked, "What's the matter?"

Daniel's expression grew contemplative as he mulled over Dante's words. He mused aloud, "It still is weird."

Dante raised an eyebrow, his expression growing with curiosity. "What? That the slashy guy won?"

Daniel hesitated, searching for the right words. "Your demeanor," he finally said, his voice tinged with concern. "You seem... different somehow."

Dante shrugged it off, taking another swig of wine from the expensive collection he had. "Cool..?" he quipped, seemingly unaffected by Daniel's worries.

Daniel, recalling the events, said, "Except for when you woke up there you-"

Mid-sentence, interrupting him from speaking any longer, Dante powerfully launched a rapidly approaching projectile beside Daniel while a faint blood lust saturated the room, "We... We won't talk about that one."

Daniel, trying to ignore the strange display, nonchalantly continued with his usual poker face, his throat kept shut because somehow his instincts told him the next was actually gonna aim for his head.

As if nothing just happened, Dante casually resumed his plans, "Now that I'm totally back, let's meet the others. I want to tell them the story, too, and because I already told them once, the second time will be better.

Dante, feeling his body heavy, yawned in the bed, "I'm starting to pay facture... I couldn't sleep comfortably knowing that there was an un-trustworthy cursed spirit that could instantly kill me if I wasn't looking."

Daniel asked, "So you are just going to sleep?"

"Yeah, that's the entire reason I got drunk, so I didn't have any problem. I'll tell the others that I'll meet them tomorrow. I need to rest, physically and mentally." Said Dante while he covered himself in a white blanket

Dante seemed like he wanted to say something about the "betrayal," but he decided to keep quiet. The past is the past, and the present is what matters now.

The room fell into silence, save for the soft sound of Dante's breathing, as Daniel lingered for a moment, trying to understand the mess of a player that was in front of him.
