In The Abyss As A Toon Character

Chapter 67: Chapter 57 Desperation

Inside Dante's head, the system asked again with its digital voice, "Do you want to start a countdown."

Dante let out a frustrated sigh as his gaze flickered between the screen before him and the looming threat. His brows furrowed, and with a tinge of exhaustion and anger, he replied, "Yes... I want..."

Choosing to ignore the useless godlike machine he has, he decided to focus on the matter at hand, darting between and in, his senses heightened by the looming Shikigami chasing him.

The ground trembled beneath his feet as Mahoraga's thunderous footsteps reverberated through the air in his now really sensitive ears.

Dante glanced over his shoulder, his eyes widening in alarm as she realized the creature was slowly reaching him; he muttered, "I just got a huge boost in stats, and you are telling me this thing is only becoming faster?" His words were laced with disbelief, telling the painful realization of the dire situation he got himself into.

While wishing that this system healed him whenever he leveled up, with a desperate surge of speed, Dante veered sharply to the left, narrowly avoiding a sweeping blow from Mahoraga's fist. The force of the blow that missed him struck nearby structures breaking them like child's playthings. Concrete, metal, and glass flew in all directions, creating a cloud of dust and debris.

Dante could feel the creature closer and closer with each passing moment. He knew that he was barely avoiding the lethal reach of the Shikigami.

With the cityscape as their battleground, Dante dipped into a partially demolished building, using the structure as both shield and weapon. He hoped to find a way to lose the Shikigami in the maze of corridors and rooms or at least slow it down with some obstacles.

Mahoraga crashed through the walls, displaying a terrifying tenacity that won't stop anytime soon. The interior of the building became a shifting battleground, with Dante constantly altering his trajectory to the left and right to outmaneuver the colossal foe, but it wasn't enough; nothing wasn't enough.

Feeling Mahoraga closing in, Dante took a bold plunge; evading the creature's grasp, he descended into the crowded streets, using them as obstacles, barely avoiding pedestrians caught in the chaos. The Shikigami, undeterred, crashed through humans like of annoying flies we were talking about.

While Hearing the screen of the non-sorcerers getting crushed, with a burst of speed, Dante rocketed through the thin alleyways, and the city streets blurred into a dizzying haze as he pushed himself to the limit. But no matter how fast he ran, Mahoraga was always one step behind.

Mahoraga broke the wall to take a shortcut to Dante's position; taken by surprise, Dante couldn't change his trajectory, and his left-wing received heavy damage from the ambush. He felt a sharp pain in his back as blood gushed from his wound. He staggered, losing his balance and his momentum.

Mahoraga's massive form eclipsed Dante's view. In a split-second decision, cornered and without options, Dante desperately yelled in his head, "SYSTEM USE THE HEAVENLY RESTRICTION ON ME!"

The system's blue interface blinked with a warning, "Are you sure? You will lose-" Without letting it finish, he accepted with a frantic, "YES! I AM SURE!"

His body suddenly received a huge burst of strength and felt renewed with a surge of energy coursing through his veins, revitalizing his weary body how it was minutes ago.

The world around him seemed to sharpen and intensify, each detail carved with an almost bizarre clarity. He thought as he noticed the changes in his perception, "Finally, is doing effect."

Every sense was heightened to a new level he had never experienced before. The scent of blood hung heavy in the air. He could taste the metallic tang of blood, feel the subtle changes in air, and sense the imminent threat of the Shikigami's movements.

With a surge of adrenaline-fueled desperation, Dante's muscles tensed, and his grip on his weapon tightened to prepare him for the colossal shikigami strike. Yet, before he could retaliate against the Shikigami, somehow, he felt like it intercepted something entirely different and powerful.

"!!!"

The world seemed to slow down as the creature's hand was abruptly cut off from its body by an unknown force. What startled Dante was how swift and clean as if slashing butter with a hot knife we were talking about.

The Shikiami staggered from the attack and turned to the side to see the perpetrator, and an ominous and dark voice echoed in Dante's ears, "Oh, both of you survived that." Followed by the weight of the unknown gaze that bore down upon him.

The voice carried a mix of amusement and curiosity as if he had just found a new toy, "Interesting, you don't count as a living object..."

...

...

...

Dante's eyes froze at the ominous sight that was in front of him. A sensation that he hadn't felt in a while invaded him, and one of his primal instincts began screaming at him, ringing all the bells to tell him.

D̷̞̘̣͉̠̎͋̋̒̇͗͋́ ̴̡̢̡͇̦̞͚͓̤̲̟̻̦̫̝̳͌̇̀̀̎̏̏̚͘̚͠͝Ą̴͔̳̣̲̲̞͚͓̘̣́̑̽͜ͅ ̷̧̢̡̡̧̤̝̤͕͍̳̦̙̦͍̹̯̅̔͐̍̍̒Ṅ̸̨̝̪̺̺̟͜ ̴̧̢̧̛̺̯͉̬̮̹͍͋̒̄̔̇͆͗͋̆̾̉̋̍̕G̶̨̡̛̟͕͖͙̹̣͒̋͗̿̈́̈́̀̓͂̄̓ ̴̞͖̮̫͓̖͓͔̫̣͂͒̈́̍̊̅̿̈̅̈́̀̌͒̄͜͝͝Ę̸̭̺̜̪͊̾͛̽̾̈́̀̔̚ ̵̛̫̩͕̠̍̓̔̾̽̄̐̊̂̐̀͆́͝͝͝R̶̜̰̙̱̣̯͉̩̤͇̀̎̌̎͘

At difference when he fought with Satoru Gojo, Dante used a lot of tricks to cut the difference. Yet this time, all the bags of tricks felt completely useless. No amount of preparation could help him here. The difference between power was too much.

His eyes dilated, trying to predict his next action; his wings wanted to move, but if he did a move falsely, then only his body would leave this place.

Sukuna's finger twitched, and Dante's heart skipped a beat. Dante didn't know anything about his cursed technique, but seeing how the enemy he was fighting got completely obliterated, he took any small reaction as a threat.

Before Dante could even raise his weapon to slash in a 360-degree arc, a sudden sharp coldness gripped his stomach. With dread creeping over him, he glanced down, only to see his body cleaved in two with blood cascading from the giant wound.

"Beautiful..." Dante whispered with grim acceptance as he descended into oblivion, his eyes locked onto the brilliant dark azure sky, with the moon like a silent witness to his tragic demise, with her cold light outshining all the lights beside him.

...

...

...

This is the scenario that happened in Dante's brain, and if he missed his reaction time by 0.1 seconds, with his trembling eyes and extremely heavy breathing from the mental and physical strain, Dante's eyes locked onto Sukuna's hands, his mind racing to create a way to defend against the impending onslaught.

Not knowing how to defend himself, his brain acted in desperation, commanding him to swing his weapon in all directions, forming a 360 circle of slashes around him, and it successfully worked.

Sukuna, with some interest from the exaltated girl, commented, "Oh? You can see it..." his gaze fixed on Dante, then he realized something, "No... You just reacted in instinct."

The moment Dante saw how Sukuna's lips stopped moving he gripped incredibly tight the sword's grip for the inevitable clash.

Mahoraga jumped in and interrupted their talk. Sukuna said, "You two are really interesting, but I gotta finish my business with him first. Wait your turn there."

The last thing in his view was a white blur from the Shikigami fist. Physically and mentally exhausted, Dante was sent flying without any chance to retaliate against any of the two.
