Chapter 65: Chapter 56 No seriously; the system can fuck off!
Jogo, Hanami, Dagon, and Dante felt an overwhelming premonition from the kid technique. The swirling aura surrounding him pulsated with an intensity unlike anything they had ever encountered. Whatever the kid was trying to summon wasn't near the level of the other Shikigamis.
Reacting instinctively, the quartet jumped into action, each running to stop the impending threat, but before Dante could reach the target, the old sorcerer intercepted him with a wild grin carved upon his face.
The blade pierced the old man, yet his laughter echoed through the chamber, adding more weight to the situation, "Not so fast... I'll not go to hell alone."
In the blink of an eye, Dante unleashed a torrent of blows, a blur of lethal cuts that instantly killed him. Yet even if Dante killed him in less than a second, in the heat of combat, time seemed to stretch eternally.
Dante, with a lot of urgency, frantically yelled at him, "MOVE OUT OF THE FUCKING WAY!"
Just as the old man was out of the equation, a blond guy in his 30s rushed to his position. Dante didn't care about him; with one hand, he grabbed his weapon and threw both of them to the wall, not watching if he died with that weak attack.
Finally, with the path momentarily free, a deafening chant pierced the air, "-MAHORAGA-!" The incantation reached its end, and then it appeared, a towering, muscular humanoid figure with a monstrous appearance of four wings sticking out from its eye sockets and a tail-like appendage extending from the back of its head accompanied by a large eight-handled wheel above his head. The white humanoid giant carried an enormous sword and radiated a terrifying aura.
Dante's senses heightened as he analyzed the challenging Shikigami before him. "This thing is different," He thought, with a sense of unease gnawing within. Even without cursed energy, he could sense that this creature wasn't supposed to be a normal enemy.
Before Dante could prepare for the battle, the black-haired boy did something strange. With a cryptic warning, he raised his arms defiantly, suddenly saying, "Hey damn bastards, Have fun surviving. I'll go first-" Without even letting him finish his sentence, a devastating blow sent him flying, crashing into the wall with a force that definitely killed him. Blood dripped from the impact zone, painting the white surface with a crimson color.
Seeing the strange turn of events, Dante's mind was left perplexed; with a thousand questions swarming in his head, he yelled skeptically, "WHAT!? Why would you summon something that kills you???"
With Megumi dead, the white giant raised its colossal hand. Dante's body wasn't in the best condition, and Despite being the closest, he didn't have time to react before the giant's hand came crashing down on him. In a desperate move, Dante raised both of his swords to block the attack.
As he felt the force of the giant's punch, Dante's arms shook under the pressure. He gritted his teeth, feeling an intense pain coursing through his body. Right now, he fought to maintain his balance as the ground quaked beneath his feet.
With his trembling arms under the pressure, his muscles strained against the overwhelming force. The sheer power of the blow felt like an earthquake had struck him, threatening to shatter him with each second.
The normal sword that he held completely shattered into tiny pieces, turning into debris that scattered around him. But the special sword that he carried somehow managed to survive the impact.
Hanami materialized an iron maiden of vines in the giant position, engulfing him entirely. Taking the opportunity to escape, Dante propelled backward, away from his reach.
Jogo, seeing how Dante barely resisted the attack, even taking into account he used two cursed tools and his physical strength is unparalleled compared to anyone else except Toji, asked, "How strong is it?"
With his body still shivering from the impact, Dante replied, "If I didn't use both of my hands, I would have broken something right there."
Searching for a way to combat the monster, the kid left before dying. Dante said, "We should run and ask Geto for help. You said he could seal him or something with that weird cube, right?
Jogo shut down that plan quickly, "1 minute the creature needs to stay there for 1 minute. That would be asking for a miracle. It was the same reason why its usefulness was quite dubious against Gojo."
Feeling frustrated and helpless, Dante asked Jogo," Hey, we probably just dispatched the strongest sorcerers in existence. Do you have any fucking way to kill that?
Jogo's expression fell as he admitted defeat, "No..."
Dante shouted with frustration boiling over, "GO THERE AND CALL GETO THEN!!!"
The Iron Maiden of vines suddenly shattered, and the sound of a mechanical wheel rotating reverbed in the place. Dante, confused, muttered, "What did he do?" His eyes widened in shock from what he saw, "Did he just regenerate all the damage?"
Undeterred by the setback, the Shikigami relentlessly charged at Dante. And he thought inside, "Despite that, I am stronger than I was before. This world keeps asking me to fight someone stronger and stronger. What is wrong with this universe?" He mentally sighed, "What's next? That shit will call the strongest creature in history" He took a small pause continuing with, "Let's not jinx ourselves 'cause it might happen..."
Before anyone could react, Dante flew to the window, the loud sound from breaking it echoed, followed by Dante propelling into the sky, "System!" he stopped mid-sentence, "This might cripple me in the long run, but..."
He opened his stat page and spent 30% of his new total points on physical resistance, 15% on magical, 30% on vitality, 10% on agility, and 15% on dexterity, disappointedly thinking, "There goes my chances of becoming a mage..."
Dante wanted to save these points because most of his transformation from what he knows uses magic, and investing too much in physical stats might cause him some problems. "At least I would be like that Satoru Gojo guy. I'll carry a lot of magical and physical prowess."
With new vigor found and his body still damaged from the fight with Toji, rendering him slower because of his battered wings, the city skyline began blurring as Dante weaved through the towering skyscrapers, trying to run away from Mahoraga's grasp. Dante yelled to the air as he tried to escape from the creature, "GETO!!!!!!! I NEED YOU NOW!"
Not caring about the scream, the Shikigami continued his relentless pursuit, reaching new heights as Dante ascended a skyscraper. Mahoraga Leaped from rooftop to rooftop; Dante tried to gain altitude and outrun the Shikigami. However, the creature matched his speed with powerful leaps that each reverberated through the buildings.
As he flew away, a random thought crossed his mind, "FUCK! HOW CAN I BE SO STUPID? WHY DIDN'T I THINK ABOUT THIS SOONER..." He calmed down and asked politely, "System, can I leave this world?"
The system coldly replied, "No."
A simple "Why" escaped Dante's lips. The system quickly replied, "Because you are in combat, the time needed to leave this world is of a few hours. Do you want to start to countdown?"
"-_-"
Inside his mind Dante, Dante muttered in a low, frustrated voice, "Dear system... Fokiu; Like seriously fuck off."
The system remained silent, indifferent to Dante's words. Its only purpose is to act as an interface, not babysit him, but now Dante was starting to doubt its usefulness outside of telling him basic information.
