Chapter 115: Chapter 105 Let's get weird
"COUNTER!" Dante's voice rang as he sidestepped the brawler's sneaky charge. His body fluidly twisted mid-air, almost in a lazy motion, before his leg whipped through a sharp arc. His heel connected with a brutal *CRACK* against the brawler's jaw, sending the man tumbling back.
Dante landed lightly on one foot, arms spread wide like a professional gymnast, "Holy! That spin kick was awesome! What?! No applause? Tough crowd."
Fang Shan's voice reverberated on the battlefield, "You are just a clown."
Before it could be processed, Dante's attire changed to an even more colorful one. "Clown?" He leaned forward with mock offense. "I'm the entire entertainment industry!"
"Immortal myriad white lotus, heavenly Yin Yang rotation-"
The world suddenly stopped, but not because of Fang Shan's technique.
Before the attack could land, Dante nonchalantly squatted down, searching in his pocket before tossing a pair of dice onto the ground. "Just let me! Let me roll for initiative. Aaaaand… NAT 20!"
Fang staggered, glaring in disbelief as blood dripped from his shoulder. Fang's left arm suddenly was severed from the body; the very own technique mere seconds ago he had prepared to strike her came back to betray him.
Time resumed because Katley broke his ability by yelling a bunch of words. Dante took a deep, exaggerated breath, sighing as he gestured at his opponents. "What's the matter? Y'all seem too serious; some non-funny joke here!"
From behind, the katana guy blurred with a burst of speed, aiming for Dante's heart. But just before the blade could connect, Dante's body divided into two identical versions of himself with a cartoonish
*POP*
"Too slow!" Dante number 1 mocked, as the second one continued, "Guess I'm double the trouble now. Or wait-- do I count as one-and-a-half?"
The katana guy snarled and lunged again, but both Dantes dissolved into pink sparkles. When they reformed, it was behind him. "Seriously, though," His stare was dulled, and a bit of hate slipped into Dante's tone, "Don't you know sequels are never as good as the original?"
A heart-shaped shield appeared around the limit breaker, covering him fully from any external influence. Dante's flamboyant eyes burned in a heart-shaped form for a second, and then the shield compressed to the size of a pendant.
The shield quickly returned to Dante and covered him in a thin pink layer. Now, a heart pendant made of meat stood in the ground. Dante didn't even bother to destroy it, as he was far busier with the rest of the team.
Above him, a massive fireball flew through the sky while a barrage of projectiles shattered the air from another angle. Dante glanced at the two incoming attacks, "Hmm... incineration or impalement? Decisions, decisions... I KNOW!" His body flickered, losing all proportions as it flattened into a 2D silhouette that fell to the ground like a pile of discarded paper.
"Let's choose none!"
As the fiery explosion roared, Dante jumped back with an umbrella in hand. A lightning strike that followed the fireball slammed into him with enough force to leave a crater, but the now-fried umbrella tanked the entire strike.
His fried umbrella created a slight shadow where wolves and an assassin erupted from it. His form instantly began blurring and bending in and out of Dante's periphery vision, creeping closer with his daggers poised to slice.
Dante caught one wolf by the throat mid-lunge and lifted it with alarming ease, slamming in it into the ground with a loud *CRUNCH* He announced, "'Bear-handed!" Then, they blinked as the wolves transformed into big bears.
"Wait, what?" Dante stopped his motion, "That... wasn't the joke I wanted. Like, I wanted another joke... But I couldn't put it into words... :/" He realized what he did, "I can speak in faces?! Wait, don't be stupid. You are ruining reality as a whole, and you are surprised you can speak in faces!?"
Again the assassin turned into ink but this time it fell onto a paper that abruptly appeared in the position, the girl grabbed a oversized pencil and began to erase the black mark.
The shadowy assassin was immediately forced to get out, but Dante suddenly spun, holding up a shining mirror. "A little self-reflection never hurt anyone… Well, maybe it will hurt you, actually!" With a swift swipe, he tilted the mirror, sending a piercing beam of light from the reflection into the assassin's eyes, momentarily blinding him. As the assassin staggered back, Dante shot forward, aiming a strike at his center.
Like thunder, his fist connected with the assassin's guts at an incredibly speed, completely obliterating his stomach, coughing blood, and leaving a purple bruise, not before pivoting a few times on the ground. Katley shortened the distance and said, "Damage."
But a female annoying child-like voice reverberated, "NUH-UH!"
"The fuck you mean- *BLEUGH* "Katley fell to the ground, her eyes trembled, and her body recoiled from having a clash over the rules of the world with so many concepts erased. Not only is Dante slowly withering away Katley, but he just rendered her useless for the main fights.
Dante lunged toward Katley, alight with a faint manic glee, but his momentum was interrupted by a barrage of fire from the mech's oversized arsenal.
The bullets sparkled with an eerie glow that prompted Dante's body to flat into a 2D cutout of himself that splattered onto the ground, avoiding the shots. The bullets zipped overhead, embedding themselves in the distant ground, sizzling with faint anti-magic energy.
He popped back up and adjusted a tiny bow tie he'd produced out of nowhere. " Faint traces of anti-magic?" He twisted his gaze towards the horizon, "Let's see if your insides are as tough as your bullets!"
He teleported in front of the guy with the pistol; he looked at him directly and yelled, "Fatty, adopted, fatty fatty-fatty, no parents!"
The limit breaker froze, his expression swirling between shock and confusion. "...Uh…?"
...
...
...
The two stared at each other awkwardly, with an overpowering silence falling over the battlefield. Dante squinted, tilting his head. "Wait, I think I missed one..." he mumbled, hesitatingly saying, "Lack of parents...?"
In that instant, a vibrant green *CRITICAL S-HIT!* sign materialized over his head, accompanied by an obnoxiously loud *DING!* He was sent flying with a sonic boom into the distant skyline, leaving only a faint pink streak in the air.
Just as Dante reappeared in the next place with a dramatic sound, ready to pounce on the mage and mech, Fang Shan emerged from the clouds. His blade shimmered, slicing a single strand of Dante's bubblegum-pink hair as he passed.
Dante froze mid-stride, blinking in disbelief as he hovered an inch above the ground. "I swear you were moving in slow-mo the first time, and now you are faster than me?"
