Chapter 109: The Universe is much bigger than you think
Jian and Shu's head collided sending a shockwave across the entire court. This wasn't enough to knock either of them though. Jian followed by a low kick that was swiftly evaded and the fight continued but in a much closer way.
Punches after punches were thrown. Shu had insane dodging abilities in close combat, however Jian had a better footwork and could follow him easily. The Zhao Warrior found himself overwhelmed and received a high kick right to the face. Jian then crashed his knee into the warrior's side before finishing with a vertical elbow strike right to the face.
He thought Shu was done for, unfortunately the warrior still had some fight in him. He grabbed Jian's cloak and used it to make sure he wouldn't fall to the ground.
"You lost, rival."
"I l-lose....Whenever I decide t-to lose..." Shu let out before bringing Jian to him in one swift movement of the arm. Jian lost his balance for a split second and....
*Boom*
The strongest punch Shu had ever given crashed right into Jian's face. The force behind the blow was enough to send Jian flying far enough to nearly reach the tower.
Shu let out a chuckle and collapsed, completely out of it.
*Clap*
A thunderous applause made the patriarch jump a bit. He hadn't seen his disciples this excited in months. Berum smiled and got up.
"I'm going to take care of Jian. I'll have my talk with him and then I'll bring him back so you can talk to the two. I believe our conversation ended anyway." Berum said as the patriarch bowed his head. He wasn't satisfied in the result of the conversation, but he wouldn't say anything to someone like berum.
He wasn't suicidal. The knight orders had nothing to do with his sect and Berum wasn't his friend. A garnison of the Akaryuu Knight Order just so happened to be detected by the disciples of the Sea Sword Sect and the patriarch had decided to invite Berum.
And so Berum left and went to search for Jian. It wasn't hard to find the boy however, since he was literally just laying against the tower as though nothing had happened.
"He really went all out on you, but it wasn't enough I see." Berum commented as Jian laughed.
"Shu is strong, he is a genius too. He was just exhausted and in the end...I have some crazy advantages. You know, everytime I train I just naturally overlook cultivation. It's a process that requires so much focus and inner peace, it's normal the sages are the ones who become the strongest cultivators. I don't think anyone noticed, but I cultivate like crazy and yet the results aren't all that amazing..."
"Because you don't have the right mindset, huh ? And you don't have the materials too." Berum said as he sat down besides Jian.
"The materials...I also overlooked them. I think I'll need to look for a lot of them to make up for my lack of talent...In the end I might need to change mentally too. Else it just won't work. Shu is in the same case as me. I can only imagine the level of our sect's geniuses have reached. There is this Jin Wang guy, I wouldn't be surprised if he is at a higher rank than me, because not only is he talented...He has the mental to go with it. I think I'm just not fit to be a cultivator." Jian lamented as he looked at the blue sky.
"There are many moments in the life of a warrior that changes him. Maybe you'll experience one, maybe soon too. It would be good if it was a positive moment." Berum said as he got up and grabbed Jian's arm.
"What do you mean ?" Jian asked while being helped up by Berum.
"I mean...Usually the moments that change you are horrible experiences that force you to change for the better...Or the worse, it depends. For you to change your very nature, you'll most likely have to go through a traumatic event or something like that. Like you said you aren't made for cultivation, and for that to change....I really don't wanna know what type of event you'll have to go through." Berum explained as they moved through the infirmary. Jian thought that perhaps Berum was a bit closer to the sect than he thought, or else it would be weird for the man to know exactly where to go for the infirmary.
"Well...You're kinda jixing it, you know ? I sure hope I don't have to go through something horrible just to be able to cultivate. But then again I am just not fit for it. I learn no techniques, I don't do alchemy or smithing or anything a cultivator would do to develop another set of skills...I'm pretty much a savage honestly, like Shu." Jian said, suddenly realizing that his words were a bit too true and hurt a lot. What the hell had he been doing for all those months ? Why the hell did he even get angry at Shu, even though he was the exact same ?
Berum looked at the boy from the corner of his eyes and released a heavy sigh.
"Boy, I'm sure you'll become a great cultivator at some point....I can only hope it won't through less than savory means." Berum said as they reached the infirmary. It was located quite close to the tower and was a simple building with a small apple statue on top of it.
They entered the building and were welcomed by a tall woman with glasses. Seeing the state Jian was in, she quickly lead him to a bed and laid him on it. After giving him a black pill that tasted like shit, she came back with a cup full of a brown liquid.
"Now I'm really starting to think you're giving me actual shit !" Jian yelled as the woman smiled. To him it was like the most wicked smile ever. She looked at Berum and he nodded to her. He grabbed Jian's arms and pinned him on the bed as the woman tried to make him drink the liquid. He sealed his lips tight and she smiled once again. She suddenly put her hand on something she really wasn't supposed to touch and Jian's cheeks became red.
"The hell you doin-Guh !!"
He recoiled as she forced the cup on his mouth. The liquid entered his mouth and he turned green in an instant. He tried to spit it out, but Berum closed off his mouth and shook his head.
"Nope. You're drinking that stuff."
*Gulp*
"...I'm going to remember your face...." Jian warned the woman who simply giggled and left him so he could recover in peace.
"Now that you're going to heal, let's talk about the important stuff." Berum said , getting Jian to nod although the boy was still a bit angry. Once again, he showed his childish side and it seemed to amuse Berum a bit. The man definitely knew Jian's real age.
"Alright...What do you want to talk about ? "
"As you know Jian, I work with the Akaryuu knight Order. Now one would believe that considering all the weird things happening in the Peizhi Kingdom and even across this whole part of the continent, we the knights would intervene...Thing is, something even worse is happening right now and all of the orders have been called back to take care of this potential threat. " Berum said as Jian gasped.
"Wait a second, it's something so dangerous ALL the orders were called ?" Jian asked. Seeing the nod he got in response, he was left speechless. This was in fact, really worrying. The knights orders were rarely all called back and most of the time it was for meetings...Not handling insane threats.
Berum looked unsure for a second as though he was going to say something he wasn't supposed to say.
"Wait a goddamn second....That bastard....DON'T FUCKING SAY IT!" Mara yelled as he tried to stop Berum, of course he couldn't do anything. Berum spoke and Mara facepalmed.
"The universe is vast Jian, it is in fact much bigger than you can even imagine. There are so many worlds and speices...Places to see, things to do, things to learn....The Universe is a great place, although it can scare people easily with it's immensity. Thing is...I was born in this universe....You weren't....The same goes for most of the people living here. You know what your world is called ? It is supposed to be called Ganesh, but it's real name would be....Earth." Berum explained. Jian was simply too lost to even comment on what the man had just said.
"This isn't the real earth though. Earth is the homeworld of humanity and has always been insanely important to the universe. There are many rules in place to make sure nothing really grave happens to the real earth, but of course there are still exceptions. This world you reside in is a copy of Earth, made from scratches by beings you cannot begin to comprehend. What I fear, and that is the reason why I'm sharing all those informations, is an event called.....The Reset Moon." Berum said. Once again Jian couldn't even speak, or breath for that matter. It was only Mara who reacted to what the man had just said.
"Reset Moon...Damnit, I knew I heard that name somewhere. I kept forgetting because it was such a long time ago." Mara said as he chewed on his fingers.
"That event is pretty mysterious and I do not know exactly what it is. Thing is, this threat the orders are keeping at bay....This threat keeps talking about this event. It wants to escape from the cell it was put in, not because it wants freedom...It's because it wants to do something in regards to that event. We don't know if it wants to stop it, make it happen or anything else. We only know it woke up because of that particular event and it cannot stop babbling about it. It also talks a lot about the ones behind that event....The Void."
