Chapter 64
On her way home, Shen Tang opened Weibo. She had made headlines for the photo of her making a victory sign.
Most of the comments were quite mild, while a small portion were from the black fans who kept verbally attacking her, repeating those same old criticisms.
She didn't know if they were tired of this, but she was certainly sick of reading them.
If they weren't insulting her, they were spreading some unfounded rumors about her, pretending to inform passersby.
Earlier, someone had even posted alleged photos of her deceased relatives and ended up being sued by the Gu Group's legal department.
Shen Tang scrolled down and saw another photo.
In the photo, Shen Tang had her hands crossed against a wall with a blank expression. Xiao Yu stood expressionlessly nearby while Sun Zheng lay on the ground and his girlfriend crouched in the corner.
At first glance, it did seem like Shen Tang was an overbearing bully.
And indeed, she was actually bullying them.
The comments claimed all sorts of things and some even started arguing due to differing opinions.
[Asking for a friend, is this from a TV show?]
[It's confirmed Shen Tang bullied them. Look at those two on the ground, scared stiff!]
[One photo to start speculation based purely on imagination? Were you at the scene? Did you see Shen Tang hit anyone?]
[Well were you at the scene? How do you know Shen Tang didn't hit anyone? Didn't you see the photo of Shen Tang being taken away by the police?]
This comment was accompanied by a photo of Shen Tang entering a police car.
[I can testify that what he said is true. I'm that tree over there and I saw everything.]
[Is it possible because of relationship issues?]
[How dare you spread rumors? Have you forgotten those previous examples? If you have the guts, don't delete this. I'm screenshotting this to send to Shen Tang later.]
Seeing these comments, Shen Tang understood why her agent didn't allow her onto her main Weibo account.
She rubbed her hands eagerly, indeed feeling the urge to do something.
Just as she was about to take action, Xiao Yu popped her head over. "What are you doing?"
Not waiting for Shen Tang's reply, Xiao Yu nodded knowingly. "I see, you want to scold people."
"I don't."
"You do."
Xiao Yu sounded extremely certain, making Shen Tang suspect she was the tapeworm in her own stomach.
"Fine, I do intend to scold them. Don't you think they went overboard?"
After Xiao Yu read the content, she nodded. "Overboard."
"Since they've insulted me, shouldn't I scold them back?"
"Yes." Xiao Yu felt something was off but couldn't figure out what.
"That settles it. They threw the first blow and I'm just retaliating."
This time, Shen Tang deliberately used her alt account to blast those leaving especially nasty comments.
The intense exchange lifted her mood.
By the time she was done, they had reached home.
Upon entering the living room, Shen Tang discovered an extra person — Gu Jinan.
Recalling the earlier conversation she overheard, she quirked her brow in interest. So he was finally making his move?
"Sister-in-law, you look well."
Gu Jinan blinked his peach blossom eyes and revealed a faint smile. He had only taken two steps forward when Tao Sister, who happened to be mopping, blocked his way. "Please excuse me."
Gu Jinan had no choice but to retreat two steps.
Yet Tao Sister mopped to the left whenever he tried going left, and mopped to the right whenever he shifted right, obstructing his path constantly.
Even someone slow on the uptake could tell Tao Sister was deliberately antagonizing him.
Gu Jinan was furious but had to restrain his anger.
Shen Tang was highly amused and nearly laughed out loud, having to recall every sad moment in her life to suppress it.
"Ahem. You're here to see Gu Huai'an? He hasn't returned."
"I came to see you."
"For what purpose? We're barely acquainted."
Gu Jinan gazed deeply into Shen Tang's eyes, extremely complex emotions swirling in his eyes.
Shen Tang instantly broke out in goosebumps.
"What's the issue then?"
Gu Jinan heaved a long sigh. "Sister-in-law seems to have misunderstood me. I came today to tell you one thing. My brother's childhood sweetheart has returned and plans to target you."
This rendered Shen Tang thoroughly stunned. Gu Jinan had actually revealed this to her.
"Target me?"
"That's right. He asked me to help seduce you so they could have an affair together. I pretended to agree then came to discuss countermeasures with you."
"I see. Sorry for misunderstanding you earlier..."
Outwardly, Shen Tang looked grateful but she was criticizing him nonstop inwardly. If not for overhearing their conversation earlier, she might have believed him.
Clearly he was the one who proposed this plan but now he had shoved the blame onto that scheming woman. Some man he was.
Tao Sister seemed about to say something when Shen Tang secretly poked her, signaling her to change her words. "Young Master, would you like something to drink?"
Gu Jinan glanced at Tao Sister. He had been here this long yet she only thought to offer him a drink now. The servants would never behave this way without someone ordering them to.
Thinking this, Gu Jinan's gaze turned frosty.
"What do you plan to do next?" Shen Tang asked.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Gu Jinan replied, "I intend to gain her trust first and gather intel from her. So I'll need a small favor from you..."
"What kind of favor?" A smile teased Shen Tang's lips.
"I need you to cooperate with me to convince her I succeeded."
Shen Tang's smile deepened. "What kind of cooperation? Could you elaborate?"
"It's simple. Just pretend to be my girlfriend and act out a scene together in front of her..."
"Hmm...let me think about it..."
"Alright, I won't disturb sister-in-law's rest any longer." As Gu Jinan strode forward, his foot slipped and he face-planted in an awkward split.
Shen Tang heard a "rip" sound followed by Gu Jinan's suppressed cry of pain. She sucked in a breath, feeling a chill in her own crotch as phantom pain shot through.
"Are you okay? Do you need me to call a doctor?"
Through gritted teeth, Gu Jinan squeezed out, "I need...clothes..."
It seemed his pants had torn. He absolutely could not let anyone see him in such an embarrassing state.
Reacting swiftly, Tao Sister stripped off her apron and threw it over. "Here!"
Clenching his fists tightly, Gu Jinan endured the pain and covered his waist with the apron.
After a bout of chaos, Gu Jinan was taken away. Shen Tang eyed the detergent spill on the floor and helplessly pinched her brow.
"Tao Sister, you..."
Tao Sister guiltily avoided her gaze. "Would you believe me if I said I accidentally spilled too much detergent?"
"Whether I believe you or not is irrelevant. It matters if Gu Jinan believes you or not."
The foam was clearly deliberately poured. Gu Jinan wasn't blind. How could he not notice?
Shen Tang worried what consequences Tao Sister might face since Gu Jinan was from the Gu family after all...
