Chapter 117: Chapter 112: Desperate Peter, Black Widow Changes Her Mind
Dr. Connor felt his body failing, his strength slipping away.
"Peter… it wasn't me who killed your parents," he murmured.
"I was never jealous of you, Parker."
With a final sigh, Dr. Connor's genetic structure collapsed, and he was gone.
Peter Parker's tears fell as he looked down, devastated but resolute.
"I know you weren't my enemy, but this is the last lesson I'll learn from you, teacher. You always saw me as a test subject, and I grew stronger for it."
He took a deep breath, suppressing his grief. "I'll preserve your genes. When the day comes that I fulfill your vision, I'll bring you back. The path to becoming a god is lonely. I hope you won't hold it against me. You chose a path I can't follow, but I'll carry on your work."
He gazed at Dr. Connor's remains, remembering the care this man once showed him, the way he treated Peter almost like family. But in the end, Connor had chosen HYDRA, and Peter was merely a pawn to them. But no longer—he had altered his fate.
Peter was unafraid of HYDRA now. With the integration of third-tier genes, he was unmatched—a true apex of genetic evolution. Even the infamous "green monster" from the news would be no match for him; he could dispatch such creatures with ease.
Then, a vision flashed in his mind—a warning.
Death. Only death.
Spider-Sense was screaming.
He felt a familiar presence approaching: Harry.
Hundreds of meters underground, there was no escape. The entrance was sealed, and Peter sensed Harry's arrival. Harry, his old friend, who now followed Ethan Hayes like a loyal pet.
"Damn it!" Peter clenched his fists.
"Ethan Hayes, I'll make you pay."
Peter activated the defenses. "Let's see if you can handle the army we created!" He shouted into the empty space, his voice echoing through the lab. The roar shook the facility, as genetic beasts responded with wild excitement, sensing their master's call. Guards and scientists covered their ears in pain, the shockwaves reverberating through the halls.
Meanwhile, Harry grinned, feeling a surge of adrenaline. "Seems our dear classmate Peter has turned into quite the monster. Ethan, can I start?" he asked, eagerly awaiting the chaos.
Ethan Hayes smiled. "Go ahead. HYDRA's minions are all yours. Peter would've killed them anyway."
Harry laughed, transforming into his Black Spider armor and charging the HYDRA guards, tearing through them like paper.
As Harry unleashed his fury, Ethan remained calm, ignoring the HYDRA grunts. In the corridor of the monster cells, genetically engineered beasts snarled and clawed at their restraints. HYDRA's security defenses held—for now. If these creatures were unleashed, society could very well become a hunting ground.
With a hiss, the shackles broke. Beasts surged forward, ready to kill. Their instincts drove them to view Ethan as a threat. Through a pheromone signal, HYDRA had programmed them to see him as their natural enemy.
Ethan stepped forward. Frost spread from his foot, turning white, then black, freezing everything in its path. Absolute zero halted every molecule in the lab, transforming the corridor into black ice crystal powder. The corridor shattered, exposing the core lab, where a monstrous figure emerged.
Peter, transformed, stood tall. His spider legs, razor-sharp, extended from his armor. Venom dripped from them, hissing as it ate into the floor. His body radiated unimaginable power, every cell containing the strength of the genetic modifications he'd undergone.
"Ethan Hayes!" Peter spat, eyes blazing. "I'll hang your corpse from the Osborn Building, make the world see you for the loser you are!"
Ethan smirked, unfazed. "You know, Peter, Gwen has always been there for me, even in bed. She studies enthusiastically," he said, his voice calm yet taunting.
Peter's fury intensified, his lungs straining with rage. His mutated form allowed him to recover quickly, but the hurt in his chest was more than physical. He had cared deeply for Gwen, and Ethan's words were like daggers.
With a fierce growl, Peter drew six syringes, jabbing them into his thigh, injecting himself with more gene serum. His body convulsed, flesh tearing, but his regenerative abilities kicked in, keeping him whole.
"You're dead!" Peter roared, launching himself at Ethan, his spider legs stabbing from every angle. But Ethan dodged effortlessly, each movement calculated, every strike avoided. He retaliated with a punch that sent Peter crashing into the wall, bones cracking under the force.
"You're strong, Peter. Stronger than before. But injecting more serum will collapse your genes," Ethan warned.
Peter barely heard him. All he knew was rage and the need to defeat his rival. He charged again, but Ethan was always one step ahead, observing, anticipating. After another failed assault, Peter lay battered, his spider legs torn off, body broken but unyielding. His self-healing brought him back each time, but the power gap was undeniable.
With a calm expression, Ethan ended Peter's struggle. He froze every atom in Peter's body, shattering him into ice shards. "You disappointed me, Peter. Even at your strongest, you couldn't match me."
As he surveyed the devastation, Ethan took a deep breath, filling the room with icy mist, ensuring every part of the lab was sealed in black frost. From above, Harry flew out, retreating in fear after witnessing Ethan's power.
Natasha Romanoff stirred as she awoke, feeling the warmth of the man holding her. She looked up, her gaze meeting Ethan's.
"This is HYDRA's monster army. Do you think you can destroy them all alone?" she whispered, a hint of admiration in her voice.
Ethan looked into her eyes, calm yet intense. Natasha wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him into a deep kiss.
