Chapter 15
To the surprise of no one, party hunting went off without a hitch.
On the first day, we hunted for four straight hours without any interruptions, and it looked like everyone in the party hit it off quite well.
When someone suggested we gather again tomorrow, not a single person objected.
And so, on the second day, we met again.
Now that we were more familiar with each other, we were all quite friendly.
Today, it was San-sae, the bard, who kicked off the small talk right away.
At first, we probably started off talking about item setups.
But as the conversation flowed, I found myself getting interested too.
The fighter, Hundoshimania, asked a question.
He was a member of this party’s Siege Guild. Surprisingly, he seemed like a cheerful guy…
But his appearance somewhat tortured my eyes, given his nickname.
“By the way, Gawol, how do you use that chain scythe? I just saw it for the first time yesterday, and a friend told me it’s not even a weapon made to be used.”
“Once you get accustomed to it, it’s usable. Just practice, and you’ll be fine.”
“Ah….”
The fighter nodded in understanding.
It didn’t seem like all his questions were answered, but he didn’t press further.
For sure, the chain scythe is a tricky weapon to handle.
It’s generally classified as a soft weapon, like nunchaku, whips, or flexible weapons. They’re hard to learn and require high skill.
Among those, the chain scythe I wield is undoubtedly the most complex.
If this were reality, I wouldn’t even dare touch it.
But since this is just a game…
With a little practice, I managed to get to a reasonable level with it.
Honestly, it’s not like I could pull it out as my main weapon, but when facing higher levels, it becomes a nice tool to use.
What’s more, its long range is a huge plus.
Among melee classes, I could say it’s overwhelmingly powerful.
It’s super convenient when I have to gather mobs.
Otherwise, I’d throw throwing weapons, which also costs money to replenish.
Once you run low, it’s no joke. Better save what you can.
“So, Gawol, do you usually go hunting in parties like this?”
“Not really. Only when the opportunity arises.”
“I see. I go often, but I’ve never seen you before. Guess this is lucky, huh?”
“Lucky… I wouldn’t go that far. Well, I’m happy to hear that.”
San-sae’s words seemed to flatter me a bit.
It was probably just sweet talk, but that made me feel even better.
Since it worked as intended, isn’t it a win-win?
As I was smoothly hunting with my number one fan…
It seemed like the inevitable was about to happen.
[Dongmi-cham has started streaming!]
Except for the berserker and bard, chatter among the other members dropped.
Especially from the party leader, the sniper, who even sent a whisper.
[Myeolgongui Hyetbul’s whisper]
– Hey, they’re broadcasting.
– I checked right away, but it looks like they’re still a bit away.
– But judging by the direction, they seem to be coming toward us.
– Doesn’t seem like they’re trying to hide it at all.
The fighter also seemed to be in contact with someone.
I couldn’t hear their voice, but I could see their lips moving.
As the lead of the party, I had a clear view, while the other members couldn’t see due to the position, so they were managing well.
I also went ahead and turned on Dongmi-cham’s stream.
I shoved a screen I didn’t really want to see into a corner of the interface and adjusted the settings so only Myeolgong could hear me.
That’s when I finally pointed out something that had been bothering me.
“Just call me hyung. ‘Noona’ feels a bit too awkward.”
– ???
– Why?
“If I dislike something, just take it as that. Once this is over, we’ll be strangers; do you really want to see me often?”
– I got it. Okay.
The last reply came a bit late.
It didn’t seem like she really understood, but that was whatever in the grand scheme of things.
I was well aware of how others perceived me.
Just by glancing in a mirror, I could see my pretty face. And since the connection device doesn’t do body scans, Gawol’s figure matched my real-life self perfectly.
I wasn’t tough enough to claim masculinity with this body.
Having completely forgotten to filter my voice, I’d given up on hiding my gender.
However, reconciling that in my mind was a totally different story.
My head still felt a disconnect.
And it wasn’t a pleasant disconnect at that.
Getting used to loving a woman’s body… would take an awful lot of time.
“What does the fighter plan to do? Someone has to take the first hit for us to do anything!”
– If Hundoshimania dies, then the situation is immediately over. They’ll retaliate and wrap things up.
– If the normal guy dies, then it depends on the opposing power; if it seems bad, we’ll run away.
I got a rough idea of the situation.
For the plan to hold up, we needed to have a victim on our side first.
At the least, one party member had to die for us to argue that the hunt was ruined.
The problem was not knowing who would be the one to die…
As long as neither I nor Myeolgong dies, I don’t think the situation will spiral out of control.
I certainly couldn’t afford to die.
I’ve gotten used to enduring considerable pain, but that’s still an uncomfortable thought.
Giving them an excuse just to take a hit isn’t worth it, especially with a 4-hour connection penalty.
– So, Gawol, what about you?
“I’ll play it by ear. Just a heads up; if I’m the one targeted first, I’m going to retaliate immediately.”
– Fair enough. If it turns into a fight, that’s not a bad outcome at all.
– With you being you, it wouldn’t seem out of place.
Most of my setup focuses on dealing damage, so I didn’t need to change much equipment.
But it’d probably be a different story for the fighter and the sniper.
Once the skirmish starts and casualties appear, I’d be the one to buy time.
With the chaos of battle, using a chain scythe would be tough.
I switched to a dagger and hid back-up weapons in my clothing.
Just as I changed weapons, San-sae innocently asked me.
“Huh? Aren’t you going to use the chain scythe anymore?”
“I forgot to repair it earlier, so its durability is pretty low. I’ll fix it during our next break.”
“Hehe. Gawol, you’re human after all.”
Though there probably wouldn’t be a break.
Still… I hoped San-sae wouldn’t die.

[Title: Bug Hunt Short Stature]
[‘Dongmi-cham’ is live streaming.]
In the stream, the scenic forest zipped past quickly.
As the ruins came into view, Dongmi-cham scanned the surroundings quickly.
There were no other enemies around.
At this rate, they would soon reach the Ancient Weapon Depot, where today’s quarry awaited.
Today, he brought two assassins to make it easier to kill the sniper.
He was confident in the frontline and even brought a mage and a high priest for firepower.
Some sniper specializing in long-range wouldn’t be able to do anything before dying.
Just in case, he set up another party as well.
– Dong-ha
– It’s been a while since you started streaming, everything good?
– Where are you heading?
“Just like the title says. Off to catch a bug. I’ll fill you in on the details slowly.”
Streamer Dongmi-cham.
His game nickname is Dongtami’s Education.
Recently, he had been quite irritated.
The younger sibling he used to treat well betrayed him as soon as his military service ended, and the stream he’d nurtured like a plant had been declining daily.
Even though he started streaming with a provocative concept, it hadn’t been working lately.
It was only natural.
His dedicated class for capturing women characters for screenshots!
That psychotic behavior initially attracted a crowd, but such popularity never lasts.
Without any long-term content, his stream began to wilt quickly.
“… But this Myeolgong guy went and betrayed me? Sure, I waited until his service ended, but why take the guild item? Seriously, isn’t that just absolutely infuriating?”
Amidst all that, Dongmi-cham snagged some decent targets.
He had the justification to execute a traitor, so a bit of aggressive behavior would be acceptable.
His eyes glinted with greed and anger as he spotted a hunting party deeply engrossed.
Though Dongmi-cham isn’t well-liked, he had plenty of experience in siege battles.
He quickly assessed Myeolgong’s party.
The fighter kept his nickname and guild concealed.
The assassin concealed only his nickname, without a guild.
The sniper was definitely a target he knew well, and the other two looked like nothing special.
“Bro, the fighter seems suspicious.”
“Got it. Don’t touch him; let’s not kill the assassin yet. I’ll take out the bard myself, so you guys handle the berserker.”
It’s a predictable trick.
Dongmi-cham’s mind was racing.
If someone who should be hiding away casually comes out to hunt, then there’s only one answer.
That fighter must be hiding something.
If SSA came out like this, then we must have a plan of our own.
First, the traitor must die without a doubt.
The fighter would likely protest, but we could easily substitute party members for him.
With that, they won’t be able to complain about hunting interfering.
“Huh? Who suddenly….”
Flying in like an arrow, Dongmi-cham grabbed the bard’s head.
With his hefty physique, one hand completely enveloped the halfling’s head.
The next moves were just waiting for the skill cooldown to wear off.
Once he successfully caught the bard, the movements were already instinctively set up.
Dongmi-cham merely had to follow through and snap some screenshots.
– Wow, Dongmi-cham’s really leveled up, huh?
– Must be the hunting gear; looks like the bard’s health is plummeting!
– Are you posting screenshots on the board? I’m in a hurry!
The chat exploded in joy.
In response, Dongmi-cham rampaged even more.
The muscular male character brutally impaled the halfling.
The bard’s health bar quickly dwindled, but it didn’t seem enough as Dongmi-cham pierced again and again.
Finally, he drove an axe into the bard’s heart, finishing him off.
The triumphant shout was just icing on the cake.
“Herbivore bug cut! If my brothers are here, they better bow their heads and step aside, you know?”
With that, the opponent lost their supporter.
Word came in that they took care of the berserker too, so if the opposing party had any sanity, they’d choose to retreat.
But something strange popped up on their screen.
[Shindosimishihunter was killed by an unknown adventurer.]
That’s odd. He shouldn’t be an easy kill.
Turning his gaze just a bit too late, he saw the assassin charging at the priest immediately.
For some reason, his eyes filled with rage—the kind that was cold enough to be described as a winter storm.
“What the hell? Block!”
