Chapter 59: If You Beat Me, I'll Let You Hehehe
Spider-Man and Batman are probably the only two heroes in Marvel and DC who never kill.
In this respect, they do overlap a bit.
Beyond that, both have tools for soaring through the air—webs or bat grappling guns—and both have had cat-like girlfriends. But that's where the similarities end.
In terms of character and fighting style, they are fundamentally different.
Moreover, both have long stood as examples of "the poor rely on mutation, the rich rely on technology," so saying they overlap is a bit of a stretch.
That said, considering the speaker was Mr. Li, the Midtown High School librarian, an elderly man who spent his life with serious books, it was normal for him to disdain doujins.
Especially when it was a doujin that gender-swapped his favorite and most prized Spider-Man...
Su Ye didn't argue with the old man and obediently went to sit with Gwen. After all, turning the Marvel world upside down in front of Mr. Li did make him feel a bit guilty.
Of course, that was just a passing thought. Even if Mr. Li challenged him to a real-life PK, Su Ye wouldn't hesitate to draw his Girlfriend Cards.
Today was graduation day. Su Ye and Gwen both wore blue robes, and Gwen, as an outstanding student, went on stage to give a speech.
Su Ye sat below, watching the ceremony, with Harry and Mary Jane beside him.
Su Ye originally wanted to ask Harry why Green Armor Guy hadn't shown up during last night's chaos.
But seeing Harry's dark circles and exhausted look, contrasted with Mary Jane's radiant and glowing complexion, Su Ye realized there was no need to ask.
The gentle embrace is a hero's grave—how true the old saying is.
"By the way, what are your plans for the holiday after graduation? I'm thinking of buying a yacht. We could go sailing together."
Harry said with a smile.
The poor play with cars, the rich with watches, and the old… well, they like younger company. Wait, no—the super-rich play with yachts and private jets.
People like Tony Stark and Justin Hammer had private jets. Harry was only planning to buy a yacht, which was pretty low-key among the wealthy.
Of course, Su Ye was tempted to check out the yacht scene. After all, the legendary Heaven on the Sea parties supposedly happened on yachts.
He was curious if these Western trust-fund kids really partied on a higher level than those back home.
Unfortunately, this time, he probably wouldn't be able to join Harry.
"I've got some things to take care of this holiday, so I'll be leaving New York for a while."
This morning, Su Ye had received a call from Terry, inviting him to leave New York and head to South Town to seek revenge on Geese Howard.
In Fatal Fury, Terry sought revenge on Geese Howard at 21, while in The King of Fighters: Destiny, set during KOF '94, he was 24.
But now, Terry had just turned 18 and was already eager to set off for revenge. Clearly, the Fatal Fury storyline had been accelerated for some reason.
Su Ye had his complaints about this fast-paced plot development. He really wanted to experience some downtime, like indulging on a yacht.
But he couldn't refuse Terry's request—he had promised to help with his revenge. And though he had never met Terry's stepmother, Jeffe, she was still tied to Old Su… right?
Harry had a good relationship with Su Ye but wouldn't meddle in his personal matters. Instead, he offered to arrange a private jet for him.
The jet wasn't Harry's personal one but belonged to Oscorp. As a major shareholder, Su Ye was entitled to use it.
But Su Ye declined. Other than his abundance of girlfriends, he preferred to keep a low profile.
Gwen didn't comment on Su Ye's travel plans. She was busy with Dr. Connors' lab during the break; they seemed to have made some progress, and she needed to help out.
Additionally, Gwen was beginning to piece together a plan for enhancing her own body.
What Su Ye didn't expect was that the obstacle in his revenge journey would be Mai Shiranui.
"I don't care, I'm coming with you!"
In the Shiranui Dojo, Mai Shiranui puffed her cheeks, crossed her arms, and gave an angry shake.
Su Ye shook his head helplessly. "Mai, didn't I tell you? We're just going to gather intel, not for immediate revenge."
Nearby, Joe Higashi and Terry quickly nodded, affirming that this was the plan. "Big Sis, you've got to trust Big Bro!"
Mai frowned. "You're all just teaming up to fool me. Do you really think I'm an idiot?"
Su Ye scratched his head and muttered quietly, "Aren't they always saying 'big chest, no brains'…"
"Su! Ye!" Mai exploded. "Let's duel. If you win, I'll shut up. If you lose, I'm leading the trip to South Town!"
"Mai, don't be so impulsive!"
Su Ye was practically scratching his scalp bald. Dueling his girlfriend? Losing would be embarrassing, but winning… you wouldn't dare win, right?
You must not want to sleep anymore, huh? (Double entendre with a mischievous grin)
Nearby, Terry watched the two in the center of the dojo with an excited expression. He had always admired his brother and sister-in-law but rarely saw them go all out, so he was looking forward to the upcoming fight.
However, Joe Higashi, being more experienced, wasn't as clueless as Terry. He stood up, grabbed Terry by the collar, and dragged him outside.
"You guys go ahead and fight; we'll head over to the Bajiquan Dojo. We've got an appointment with Master Tang."
"But Brother Joe, Master Tang didn't…" Terry started to protest, confused.
"Shut up!" Joe shouted fiercely. "Do you want me to pull down someone's pants? And not mine—yours!"
"Brother Joe, are you really going to teach me your ultimate pants-pulling technique?"
"Will you stop already? I've told you, it's not an ultimate technique!"
"I know—it's a secret skill!"
"Scram!"
The two third wheels vanished, closing the door behind them and helpfully hanging a "Closed" sign on the dojo.
Even Hanzo Shiranui had gone to have tea with Tang Fulu, leaving Su Ye and Mai as the only ones in the Shiranui Dojo.
For a moment, the atmosphere grew a bit… peculiar.
Outside the dojo, Joe and Terry squatted by the roadside across the street, watching all kinds of girls passing by.
Terry frowned. "Brother Joe, weren't we supposed to see Master Tang?"
"Master Tang didn't call us, so why would we go?" Joe whistled at a girl walking by in shorts and a crop top, receiving a friendly but polite middle finger in return.
"But you just said…" Terry still looked puzzled.
"Say what? Didn't you see your brother and sister-in-law about to fight? If we don't leave now, do you want to stick around and watch?" Joe glared at him.
"Of course! I'd love to learn from them, maybe even join in and exchange a few moves!" Terry said earnestly.
"Heh," Joe rolled his eyes and offered a very sincere piece of advice.
"Trust me, even if you went back to Thailand with me for surgery, your brother wouldn't let you join the fight—unless you were reborn!"
"Why?" Terry was even more confused. Forgive him—he grew up with his mom and was a little naive…
