I Have a Girlfriend in Marvel

Chapter 17: Green Goblin, the Human Wrecking Ball

Coming clean to Gwen was something Su Ye had considered for a long time.

It wasn't because Peter Parker, the second Spider-Man, had done the same in the movies. The real reason was Gwen's intelligence and keen observation skills. With them being classmates and lovers, it would be nearly impossible for Su Ye to keep it a secret from her.

Rather than constantly making up lies, it was better to come clean directly.

Besides, based on experience from the MCU, Spider-Man couldn't always work alone; having a few allies was ideal.

They didn't have to be superheroes—assistants would do.

The three Spider-Men not only had the Avengers but also assistants like Ned, who could cover for them in tricky situations, even when lying.

If Gwen, the model student in her parents' and teachers' eyes, could serve as his cover, Su Ye would have a much easier time.

After weighing all options, he decided to reveal his secret.

Of course, he would only reveal his Spider-Man identity. Any other aliases he might gain in the future would remain under wraps.

After saying goodbye to Gwen, Su Ye swung his way to the carnival's location—Times Square—beating Captain Stacy to the scene.

As a landmark, Times Square was a prime target in Marvel movies. Heroes, villains, everyone loved causing trouble here.

When Su Ye arrived, the area was already in chaos. Buildings showed signs of bombing, stands had collapsed, and many large balloons and decorations lay ruined.

Panicked pedestrians screamed and ran, while the Green Goblin, in his green flight suit on a glider, laughed maniacally in the sky.

Su Ye didn't charge in recklessly. The Green Goblin wasn't just a guy on a glider; his body was enhanced by a serum, increasing his strength by seven to eight times.

Facing such an opponent, relying on brute force alone would be naive.

As for Mary Jane, screaming hysterically on the broken stands, she could wait. He'd deal with her if the stands really collapsed.

…..

Norman Osborn had been troubled lately. As the founder and CEO of Oscorp, he was under siege by both the board and the military.

His research projects had failed to meet expectations, funding was cut, and he was even being sidelined by the board.

Without consulting him, the board decided to remove him as CEO and to sell the company.

For Norman, who dreamed of becoming the military's top weapons supplier, this was a fate worse than death.

Already suffering from a split personality, Norman transformed into the Green Goblin and targeted this carnival, hosted by a rival aerospace organization, aiming to eliminate every Oscorp executive attending.

He succeeded. Those bastards in the boardroom who wanted to kick him out like a stray dog were all blasted to bits by pumpkin bombs.

However, Norman Osborn wasn't satisfied with this—or more precisely, his split violent persona, the Green Goblin, wasn't satisfied.

He craved more destruction and carnage, such as that girl in a cheongsam, slumped on the shattered bleachers, screaming like a slaughtered pig.

The girl was calling out "Harry," so she was the girlfriend of his useless son Harry?

His foolish son, after getting a boyfriend, now also managed to get a girlfriend?

How peculiar—he had to go take a closer look.

The Green Goblin maneuvered his glider, gradually approaching the shattered bleachers and closing in on the shrieking girl.

"Hello there, my dear!"

Honestly, if Harry hadn't fainted from his earlier outburst, he would've definitely gone all out against the Green Goblin.

Who the heck are you, calling someone else's girlfriend "my dear" right off the bat? Are you crazy?

With Harry unconscious, Su Ye seized the opportunity to act.

He had been observing for a long time, waiting for the Green Goblin to hover midair and let his guard down. Then, like the original Spider-Man, he approached and sabotaged the glider, letting him fly off like a kite.

This was the simplest and most direct way to resolve the crisis.

As for close combat?

Forget it. Su Ye didn't think he could necessarily overpower the Green Goblin in a fistfight, and there was no need to endure such pain.

However, this served as a reminder for Su Ye. Relying solely on Spider-Man's super strength and reflexes, even against the Green Goblin, wasn't a guaranteed win. So, improving his overall abilities was still necessary.

The Green Goblin was eyeing Mary Jane, pondering how to teach this foolish woman—obviously after his stupid son's money—a lesson she'd never forget.

Suddenly, sparks crackled from beneath his glider. He soon realized he had lost control, his glider spewing black smoke as it flew around erratically.

"Who! Who did this! Damn it!"

The erratic glider carried the Green Goblin skyward. He struggled to steer but couldn't turn nimbly, only flying farther away.

At that moment, two strands of web shot out—one stuck to the Green Goblin's back, pulling him off the glider, and the other latched onto the glider.

Su Ye didn't follow the webs but simply tied them into a quick knot and let go.

Then, people saw the villain who had ruined the carnival dangling in midair, flung about by a malfunctioning glider as it flew away.

The glider's direction was chaotic, causing the Green Goblin to swing around like a pendulum, crashing into everything.

Boom!

The Green Goblin smashed into the wall of a building, dragged along its surface, sparks flying.

Bang!

Another building's rooftop was struck by the Green Goblin's head, shattering a corner instantly.

Crack!

Yet another building's lightning rod was snapped as the Green Goblin collided with it, a sound resembling chaos and calamity echoing in the sky.

By the time the Green Goblin's figure, dragged by the glider, bounced and crashed out of sight, some onlookers below—even those with overly sympathetic hearts—began to feel sorry for him.

No one could guess where he'd finally land. Even with that sturdy flight suit, crashes like those would surely cause a concussion or internal bleeding.

Su Ye ignored the Green Goblin who had flown off and instead turned back, shooting a wad of web directly into Mary Jane's screaming mouth.

He then grabbed her by the neck and tossed her next to the unconscious Harry before swinging away.

Only then did the car carrying Captain George finally arrive on the scene.

"Everyone, be advised—the suspect is a ruthless supervillain. During the operation, you must not let your guard down, and you must…"

Captain George, holding a walkie-talkie, instructed his officers with a stern expression. However, as soon as he opened the car door, he was informed that the villain had already been driven away.
