chapter 6
5 – 1# Why not use the convenient setting of amnesia? (5)
That day was just like any other.
Yoo-ri, who woke up early in the morning, prepared a delicious breakfast in place of her brother.
When Yoo-shin, who had slept in due to late-night training, woke up, they finally ate together.
For now, the academy was on vacation, so this peace was maintained…
But Yoo-ri was afraid that her brother would be exposed to harsh conditions again once school started.
However, Yoo-ri soon changed her mind.
For now, just being able to sit and eat together like this…
It was something Yoo-ri was very grateful for.
Because we always think that precious things are always by our side.
We can’t realize how big a place they occupy.
And we always regret and grieve only after they disappear.
For Yuri, her brother was not just a family member.
When their parents passed away, and she thought she was left alone in the world.
The only person who held her hand. The shade that allowed her to trust, rely on, and endure.
Because of that, Yuri didn’t realize.
How much that shade was blocking the rough and harsh waves of the world.
Yuri was one of the lucky ones.
No matter how sadly you cry and regret in this world.
It’s rare for someone who has left to come back.
Feeling so grateful for that, Yuri thought to herself.
If only we could live like this, just the two of us, without ever going outside.
‘What, what am I thinking right now.’
Startled by the twisted thought that suddenly occupied her mind, Yuri shook her head.
Of course, I don’t want to see my brother mingling with other women, but!
That’s only because I care about him. It’s definitely not that.
While Yuri was making excuses to herself, not knowing to whom.
The doorbell rang again in the quiet house. Yuri immediately reacted.
“Wait a minute.”
“Is it a delivery?”
“No, probably not.”
It wouldn’t be Park Sejun who came before. Because he’s in the hospital.
She already heard the news that Park Sejun got beaten up by someone and became a wreck.
She thought it served him right, but she didn’t know who the culprit was.
Apart from that, Yuri expected that the Sword Saint under Park Sejun would move.
‘There’s no way Park Sejun’s dirty hunting dogs would stay quiet.’
Until she found out the true nature of Park Sejun, she just thought they were his friends.
But after her brother made an extreme choice. And she personally investigated it.
More hideous filth than imagined poured out. On the surface, they pretended to be model students.
In reality, they were thugs and gangsters carrying out various dirty deeds under Park Sejun’s orders.
And as expected, the faces displayed on the intercom were very familiar to Yuri.
[Yuri Baek~ We know you’re home~.]
[Come out before we break the door. Let’s resolve this nicely.]
‘Why on earth have they come to our house?’
Facing those who were shouting like hired thugs, Yuri thought calmly.
She had anticipated that Park Sejun’s downfall would mobilize his underlings.
But she hadn’t expected those hounds to find the place where her brother and she were staying.
“Who is it? Who are they?”
‘Damn, my brother…!!’
At the loud voices, even her brother, who had been eating, approached the intercom.
Yuri showed a troubled expression. As expected of the hounds who handled all of Park Sejun’s dirty work.
Naturally, they had also tormented her brother, Yushin, terribly.
‘I must prevent my brother from meeting those guys at all costs!’
It’s never wise to let the victim and the perpetrators of group bullying meet.
Moreover, her brother had found it so hard that he had almost made an extreme choice.
If things went wrong, the terrible memories of the past might resurface.
In the end, Yuri made a decision after much deliberation. Everything was to protect her brother.
“They’re my friends. They must have come for a brief visit.”
Yuri answered with a forced smile. She intended to resolve it herself.
She didn’t know their purpose, but the person they were looking for wasn’t her brother. It was her.
In that case, she would rather step forward and resolve it herself. That was Yuri’s conclusion.
‘Does this guy think I have holes for eyes?’
However, her choice to protect her brother was in vain. Yushin already knew everything.
No, he couldn’t have not known. The atmosphere was already extremely hostile.
At the very least, they hadn’t come to see Yuri with friendly intentions.
‘But if she says so herself.’
However, at this point, Yushin had no intention of actively intervening.
As a former warrior, Yushin was skilled at assessing the opponent’s abilities.
In Yushin’s eyes, Baek Yuri was a prodigy with considerable skills for her age.
At least, he thought that such trivial matters could be resolved at Yuri’s level.
But when the door opened, and they recognized Yushin behind Yuri, their tone changed.
“Wow, what the hell. Didn’t they say that loser was dead?”
“Yeah, they said he died from falling from a high place.”
To the Sword Saint Squad, Yushin was just a toy to play with. Nothing more, nothing less.
But the Yushin they heard had committed suicide was standing right in front of them, alive.
In their own way, they spoke like this out of a sense of reunion after a long time.
“Huh?”
But that properly provoked Yushin’s temper. Yuri urgently shouted.
“Oppa, leave this to me. You go inside for a moment.”
“Yeah, we came to see your sister anyway.”
“Consider yourself lucky today~ If you understand, get lost quickly.”
The words were similar, but the meaning was different. Yuri was worried about her brother.
On the other hand, the Sword Saint Squad’s words were half-mocking warnings. A warning not to get involved in this matter.
However, if there was at least one commonality, it was that both their tones greatly provoked Yushin.
“Hey.”
In a very short time, so short that they couldn’t even blink, something happened.
Before they knew it, Yushin, who had been behind Yuri, was now between them.
As if he had been there from the beginning. They barely noticed the change belatedly.
Chills.
A creepy and fearful sensation surged, as if their entire skin was being rubbed by sharp blades.
A beast.
No.
A predator.
It felt like they were prey facing a predator at the top of the food chain.
Yushin, who had come between Yuri and the Sword Saint Squad, glared at them with sharp eyes and said.
“Who do you think you are?”
Ordering me around?
* * *
There was no such thing as certainty.
Did Baek Yuri really make Park Sejun like that? If so, where is the evidence?
Of course, there couldn’t be any. It was just that they couldn’t stand by and do nothing.
They simply took preemptive action. Even if Baek Yuri hadn’t done it.
For the sake of our future, there was no other choice. This is what we learned at the academy.
“He’s a bit late.”
“I’ll give him a call.”
The boys immediately reacted to the subtle pressure from Park Hyungjun, the boy with a scar on his face.
The location was an abandoned factory in a secluded area. It used to be a bustling factory.
But it was completely ruined by a monster attack, and has been abandoned ever since.
In other words, this abandoned factory was the perfect place to handle secret matters.
‘I won’t kill him, but I’ll make sure he can never hold a sword again.’
Park Hyungjun, who hadn’t stood out much at the academy in terms of skill.
In fact, he was already skilled enough to compete with active heroes.
However, he didn’t step forward and instead took care of Park Sejun’s messes from behind.
This was merely the beginning of a grand plan to rise in the ranks of the Park family of sword masters.
Although things had completely gone awry now, it wasn’t too late. It could still be salvaged.
That’s what he thought.
Until the boy who went outside to make a call came flying through the closed door.
Crash! Bang!!
The metal door, though rusty, was torn apart like a piece of paper.
And through that gap, Hyungjun’s friend flew like a missile and crashed into the wall next to him.
In a completely unexpected situation, everyone looked ahead with bewildered eyes.
Except for one person, Hyungjun, who was calmly analyzing the situation. Thanks to that, he immediately realized.
“Baek Yushin?”
The identity of the culprit who threw the member so hard that the metal door was torn apart.
If you had to be precise, his position was that of prey, placed at the very bottom of the food chain.
But the Baek Yushin standing before him now was different. The fierce aura was palpable, even to his skin.
A predator.
Not just any predator, but one that reigns at the very top of the food chain.
“How could a worm like you possess such power…?”
And the predator’s gaze, having clearly heard the muttering, fixed on Park Hyungjun.
“Hey.”
Short words?
