Chapter 58
Chapter 58 – Former Guildmaster 1
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Luca.”
“Yeah.”
Luca joined me, and we got into a luxurious carriage. I had originally planned to walk, but she refused, saying she didn’t want it to feel like training. The soft cushions felt comfortable.
“Then, we’ll be gone for three days. Please take care of things here.”
“Yes, my lord.”
I opened the window and greeted the coachman, and the carriage started moving towards the gate, with the sound of the whip cracking and the wheels rattling.
When was the last time I went on a trip like this?
####
The sound of rattling again, but this time it was from a lack of customers. The former guildmaster’s pub was devoid of the lively atmosphere of a month ago.
The former guildmaster drank his welcome wine in the dirty bar and slammed his empty beer mug on the table.
“What the hell! Not a single customer showed up last night, what’s going on?”
He threw the beer mug and it shattered with a loud sound.
“Why did the customers stop coming in? Something’s been off since that useful brat left.”
The main reason was that the effect of Aix’s magical tools had worn off. The most significant contributor to the lack of customers was the unpleasant smell, which was not fitting for a food and beverage establishment and attracted insects instead.
“Damn it! I have no choice but to go bring Aix back. He’s giving me a hard time.”
And so, with high spirits, he set out for his old hunting grounds – the adventurer guild. However, here too, things had changed since he was last there.
“Hey, I’m here. Rejoice, I’ve got work for you to do. Bring back that brat Aix.”
“I’m sorry, we can’t do that.”
Until recently, guildmaster who owed former guildmaster favors would have readily agreed, but now the atmosphere in the guild had changed.
The receptionist was busy writing documents and didn’t even bother with customer service.
“Ah!! What’s with that attitude towards me, the former guild master?”
“Huh? Does that have anything to do with anything?”
The receptionist stopped and looked at him with a face that clearly showed she didn’t understand, causing him to falter.
“Well, I am the former guild master, you know?”
“So what?”
The former guild master was shocked – was his past position worth nothing but a piece of paper?
“Alright, I’ll give you seven pieces of silver coin. I want to request a one-month maintenance of the facilities.”
“…Your exit is over there. I don’t think anyone will accept that request, but we do sell request forms starting from one silver coin.”
Trembling and with a face reddened, the former guild master retreated. It seemed that his former guild master authority was of no use.
He shouted in frustration in front of the guild,
“Argh! Where’s Aix? Don’t you have any sense of responsibility for your work? I’m in trouble here, Aix—-”
But a luxurious carriage rumbled by, raising a cloud of sand and muffling his words.
“Ugh… cough cough”
Inside the carriage, a lovely young girl asks worriedly, “Aix? Did someone call you?”
“That voice might’ve been from the former guild master. I don’t like him because he’s always saying crazy things. Last month, he even avoided paying the commission fee,” I answered irritably.
“That’s awful,” she replied.
“I know. I don’t want to see him,” I added.
Then, Luca laughed mischievously and asked, “Then, should we just elope?”
“I don’t want to run away like a loser. Also, have you forgotten about rabbit-san?” I reminded her.
Since Luca’s stuffed animal is different from a golem, I wonder if it’s safe to leave it behind.
“Aix, what should we do?” she asked.
Ah, it seems like we can’t do it, and she became depressed.
“…Should we go back for now?” I suggested.
“Don’t worry about it, partner. I’ll apologize to Rabbit Army once we get back,” Crazy Bear offered.
“Thanks, Crazy Bear,” I appreciated the gesture.
Oh, Crazy Bear looks cool.
I decided to go with this answer as well.
“Let’s be in good mood together ,” I added.
“Thank you,” Luca blushed, looking cute.
We’re almost at the gate.
My adventure is beginning, even if it’s only for three days.
