Chapter 34: Soul Charming Spell Backfired
“Everyone, drop what you are doing! Lend me your magical power, and activate the protective sphere!” The legacy students pushed the limits of their magical power into the warship. However, Seventh Sister Jade was still in the process of making her spell talisman.
Everyone knew that her Soul Charming Spell required absolute concentration, or else it would result in a backlash to her soul so they ignored her.
A blue sphere here covered their warship. Similarly, the Bone Squad also activated their protective spell formation.
“Those are Grassland Guardians? No way! The last time we were here, they were not even half the size of these ones.”
“There’s even dozens of them. We’re so screwed.”
“How did the hell did those vegetables wake up? What kind of magical fluctuation did those brats sent off? I didn’t even feel anything until now. Is this an accident, or is this a ruse!?”
Eldest Brother Yang’s forehead was covered in sweat. “Did those guys from the main base triggered this? Are they here already? No way, that’s way too quick, unless they brought a cardinal... Crap. Abort mission. I need to get out of here first.”
He sent a mental transmission message to his friends, and prepared to activate the warship’s engine to full power. The Grassland Guardians marched toward the three warships. One of the giants reached them before the others and headed toward Yang Yang’s warship.
“Yes, yes, yes! Hit him so we have more time to leave!” The legacy students’ warship made a sharp sound as it prepared to fly away.
“Lord Yang!” The Bone Squad turned their warship and summoned many spell attacks at the Grassland Guardian. The attacks were ineffective, but to their surprise, the giant ignored them and proceeded toward the legacy students. They watched with stunned eyes as the giant raised its leg. It stood in a kicking position, and then unleashed its power.
“Hold on. Something isn’t rig-” Eldest Brother bit his tongue when the gargantuan force of the giant’s kick struck the his warship’s defenses. The warship launched into the sky like a foot ball.
Blood sprayed out of Eldest Brother Yang’s mouth as he and the other students, beside Seventh Sister Jade, flew into the air, and was repelled back onto the warship by the protective sphere.
Seventh Sister Jade was centered onto the ground from an effect of a auxiliary spell formation, something she habitually set up before using the Soul Charming Spell to protect her in any physical way. However, even she slightly winced. The pink talisman glowed brightly and was nearly completed.
The warship balanced itself, giving the students time to breathe.
“Holy crap, we need to ge-” Once again, Eldest Brother Yang was cut off when another Grassland Guardian approached the warship and kicked it with gusto.
“Ahhhhhhh!!!” As they flew into the air, a giant jumped up and caught the warship with its chest. The warship slid down and bounced on the giant’s repeated foot tapping.
“Someone, please help...”
”I think I’m going to barf...”
“Bleh! Bleh! Bleh!”
No one was sure of who said what, but vomit spewed from someone’s mouth like a rainbow in the clouds after the rain. It juggled around the warship and dyed everything it touched in a yellow-brown color. If one smelled carefully, and ignored the stomach acid’s stench, the scent of potatoes and beans would be noticed.
Once again, they were kicked into the air. The Bone Squad looked over at the scene of carnage with strange expression.
“Doesn’t it look like they’re playing?”
“Yeah...”
”I think they’re actually playing football.”
Football was a common game that everyone played as a child, even children of magi. Some giants were kicking the warship to one another. Some were juggling it for fun before passing it off. One particular giant was doing tricks with the warship to impress his friends.
In any other scenario, this would made a lovely, enjoyable sight. However, it was a one-sided massacre. Complete domination. Absolutely devastating. An image of pure insanity.
It was game over; not for Grassland Guardians of course.
Many of the legacy student were were knocked out and covered in blood, vomit, or an ungodly mixture of both. Even Seventh Sister Jade’s spell formation was tearing down. Eventually, the warship was kicked with an ultra powerful attack and the protective sphere shattered.
Even her spell formation broke, and she returned from her trance immediately. “Oh no!”
The Soul Charming Spell talisman was infinitely close to completion, but still imperfect. A powerful wave of Charm Magic spread out around her. Coincidentally, Yang Yang came out of his warship’s main cabin.
“What is with all the noise out here? What are kids up to nowa- holy crap! What are those!?” He pointed at the Grassland Guardians in surprise.
“Crap! He’s in sight...” Her Charm Magic was working against her, and the Soul Charming Spell invaded her sea of consciousness. A pink light emitted from her eyes as she blankly stared at Yang Yang.
His enchanting, black hair was as beautiful as the moonless night. His vibrant, green eyes were as gorgeous as nature’s most beautiful leaves during spring. His chiseled jaw and collar bone cut a deep gash of mysterious feelings into her heart. Although Yang Yang was younger than her by eleven years, Seventh Sister Jade’s heart was completely enraptured in a way that not even Eldest Brother Yang had ever made her felt.
“Lord Yang, I think it’s best if we leave now!” Bone One pleaded with Yang Yang. It was at moment when the legacy students’ warship flew right toward them. “Oh crap! In coming attack!”
They dispersed from each other, but the warship struck the Bone Squad’s warship. A slender figure was sent flying from the collision, and Yang Yang caught that person without much thought.
He looked over and saw the two warship crashing down in blazes. “Bone One! Bone Two! Bone Three!”
Yang Yang’s Palm of the Guardian flew down, but was blocked by a Grassland Guardian’s foot. “You dare stand in my way!? Back down!”
Yang Yang’s summoned his Life Essence Grimoire and used the unique aura of the Scion of Life when he spoke. The green giant who blocked Yang Yang’s spell dispersed into a large bundle of grasses. However, the two warships already crashed onto the ground and was surrounded by many giants. He was about to raise his voice again, but a giant hand materialized behind him and spiked his warship into the horizon.
“AYYYEEEEEE!!!” The warship flew at a impressive speed and was shot right into a portal that mysteriously appeared in the air. Meanwhile, the Grassland Guardians stopped in their tracks and remained still. The loudest sounds were the hissing of the fires, but the sigh of a person could be audible heard among the ruins.
“The aura... of a scion...”
