Chapter 24
Rek’Sai’s subsequent movements were all predictable.
As soon as the Allied Jungle spotted Rek’Sai wasting too much time at the Top, they jumped straight to the enemy camp, but Rek’Sai couldn’t just wander back into the Allied Jungle either.
Having poked him from behind, not only was he low on health, but the Allied Mid was also likely to be squeezed between Top and Mid due to the push control.
All that to say, he would only manage to finish off two camps and one Wind Golem before heading back.
Of course, there was the unexpected option of crossing over the Bottom and setting up for a counter-gank from the brush, knowing that Shia had no ward.
But that was a concern for Shia to manage, so I decided not to focus on it too much.
Mirocel, who was supposed to level up W at level 2, ended up leveling E instead, which handed me complete control over the lane.
Even eating Rift Scuttler required my permission each time, making it so he eventually had to recall to base and use his teleport.
As we hit the 8-minute mark, the Rift Scuttler score had already ballooned to 72 to 29, doubling and soon tripling.
Calculating the timing for level 6, Mirocel’s ultimate was launched as a desperate blow, but I simply avoided it with some fancy footwork while his Q and continuous kiting resulted in him missing around two waves, making him return to base often.
[Allied has been defeated]
[Double Kill]
While the Allies were hunting the Rift Herald, the enemies must have decided they couldn’t let this stand, executing a 4-man dive at Bottom, ringing in a long-awaited victory sound for them.
“Sorry, I died without taking anyone down.”
“Nah, I’ll make more gains at Top.”
I pinged for support once at the Tier 2 Top Tower and once at the Dragon Nest.
It would be better to quickly drop the Herald and head straight back to the jungle before dashing to the Dragon Nest.
This way, the Dragon would definitely be our team’s, and it was a loss to block Top, and failure to do so would result in a bigger loss.
Unfortunately, that was still insufficient to cover the recent Bottom dive incident.
I needed to secure a kill even while being chased.
With the bounty, the ADC and support, now valued at 700 and 450 respectively, headed towards Top.
Believing that Top had completely lost their trust, our jungle followed quietly behind the Bottom.
[Allied has destroyed its second fortress!]
Lunami and Rek’Sai, both known for their chase skills, wouldn’t let me get away so easily.
But I had just hit level 11, while the jungle ADC was level 9 and the support was level 7, so I could definitely handle them.
“If I was greedy for one more lane, I’d have to die!”
If I just avoided Rek’Sai’s Q, I would win.
But Rek’Sai, perhaps aware of that, saved his skills until the end. As I took a stance that suggested I was about to flee, he wasted his skills to restrict my movement.
Rek’Sai couldn’t stick to me because of his superior range and the chance to be possessed, while Lucian was waiting for his moment to come from behind.
‘Finally here.’
With three movement abilities, Lucian was impossible to catch for me. I was only targeting Nami.
Trusting Nami’s heal, Lucian tried to engage in a trade, but I skillfully mitigated the damage using my passive.
I was hoping to catch the moment when Rek’Sai and Nami separated, but they both made the angle so obvious, forcing me to reconsider.
‘If I try to use my ultimate here, I’ll be burst down instantly.’
The key was that Lucian had to fall. Instead, I would patiently wait for Rek’Sai and Nami to be together.
I retreated into a narrower corridor with a corner. Rek’Sai, who had more health relative to me, cleared the path.
As I handed out even hits and long-range W skill hits to Rek’Sai, I got close to Nami to create distance again. As soon as Lucian noticed my skill was on cooldown, he dashed forward to punish me.
‘This is my chance.’
In a three-way terrain with a thin wall, the enemies had no vision beyond that wall.
“Why don’t you just stop chasing me?”
My ultimate spilled out behind Lucian.
Rek’Sai and Nami sensed danger and unleashed their skills, but hitting Asteria within that area was like trying to grab stars from the sky.
[You have slain the enemy!]
[Consecutive kill prevention!]
[Double Kill!]
Lucian retreated pathetically towards the allied formation, but with their joining, I was able to pocket Lucian’s bounty nicely.
*
“Thanks, everyone. Asteria seems pretty good against Mirocel, doesn’t she? I should practice with her too.”
“How about practicing with Kalista first? I thought I was going to get a stroke in lane.”
“The opponent is the opponent, what can I do? I did my best.”
“That doesn’t excuse not learning your ultimate at level 6!”
“Old habits from Top, haha.”
In the end, the match between the Top Carry and Bottom Carry resulted in a victory for the Top Carry.
It was true that Lunami was broken, but our team had also exploited the weaknesses in their combination well.
Shia conveyed that she was disappointed that the viewers didn’t see Paysoos in a lane matchup, but our goal was victory and Master Rank, after all.
“Great job, everyone!”
Shia’s cheerful greeting.
I briefly shared farewells with my teammates, who had fought through thick and thin with me, before checking the results.
[You’ve been promoted to Master Rank.]
[‘NightNight’ donated 10,000 won!]
– Congratulations on Master, NoName!
[‘SSPZLDJE’ donated 15,000 won!]
– I’m the winner who saw all 50 consecutive wins.
[‘GreatWobble’ donated 500,000 won!]
– I’ll be looking forward to Challenger too!
The donations initially aimed for over 500,000 poured in.
The chat flowed at an endless speed, and I felt almost swept away in a wave of text.
“Congrats, Na-me. We truly pulled off something amazing, huh?”
Who knows, Riot might see this incident and decide to abolish duos again.
Shia said she was happy about it anyways.
This record could remain a part of unending history.
“Thank you. I didn’t talk much during the game, so it might have been boring.”
[‘EomSangHwan’sLastLeaf’ donated 10,000 won!]
– With your skill, it’d still be entertaining even with a Mad Movie song playing in the background!
– For real, lol
– Every game felt like a Mad Movie.
– Just thinking about meeting Bronze/Silver/Gold Atheneans as allies makes me dizzy… right?
– Considering we even beat some pro TK players, we definitely have skills.
– ???: Definitely has skills (Bronze/Silver/Gold KDA 0.8).
“Asteria is a great champion.”
[‘ClipArtist’ donated 3,000 won!]
– (Some praise from Paysoos for the clip)
[Wow, is this really Diamond these days? Not easy from the lane phase?]
[Our team Mirocel!!! Please stop dying!!! How many more times are you trying to make the enemy Top a monster!]
[The bounty of 1,000 on Asteria must be claimed. Go after Rek’Sai! No, if he suddenly revs up there…!]
[This game is going sideways. Oh no, isn’t this strange from the first match? Who is this? NoName? I’ve heard a lot about him. He’s really good!]
– Wow, being praised by Paysoos is amazing.
– If Paysoos gives praise, you know you’ve made it, lol.
– So TK’s official broadcast was on too?
– It seems the stove league is mostly over, and now they’re managing the broadcast schedule.
– If he’s calling folks like you “Hyung,” that’s some serious respect.
[‘MiroKing’ donated 20,000 won!]
– Seriously, what’s with Top Asteria? I’ve never experienced walls like this before.
“Thanks for the 20,000 won, MiroKing! The truth is that Na-me thought we’d lose if we swapped to Top Kalista, so I did this switch.”
– For real, the lane phase was dizzying;;
– Failing the level 2 gank and misusing skills meant there was no chance to fight back if the jungler didn’t come.
– It’s been ages since I personally got roasted by a ranked player after hitting Challenger.
– Our Rek’Sai really doesn’t hold back.
MiroKing shares how our team’s Rek’Sai risked punishment for breaking chat rules just to hurl insults at him.
Shia found it so funny that she laughed for a long time for it all to calm down before she could continue sorting through the flood of donations.
“Okay, I’ll be closing donations now. If we keep this going, the broadcast will drag on, but for those who want to donate more, please do so tomorrow!”
– If you donate now, it’ll be shared between us; look at that intention to save it all for tomorrow, lol.
– I wonder how much money he made in a week; even that Delete Room President showed up earlier.
– Even after deducting for small cuts, that’s at least 400, from what I see.
– Make sure to settle up properly with NoName!
“When have I ever scammed someone? Seriously, that’s too slanderous!”
“I trust Shia. You wouldn’t really do that, right?”
“Na-me, you too…!”
“Just kidding. But if you actually scam me, I won’t forgive you.”
Shia starts announcing the end of the broadcast with her closing remarks.
While I couldn’t quite manage following through with her shameless charm, I made sure to show my own sincerity, wrapping up the broadcast without any issues.
[Transitioning to NoName’s personal broadcast: 0:00:01]
[Viewer Count: 581]
Initially, this broadcast had started to earn for potion costs, planning to set aside mana payment, but more and more viewers seemed to hope for something extra.
“Why did you come here instead of going to Hyebam?”
– ???
– If you ask that, what are we supposed to say…
– Aren’t you going to do extra content?
– For real, ride the wave while it’s flowing!
– For sure! The Asteria V-tube Mad Movie had 300,000 views!
– I also came in after seeing that.
‘Extra content?’
“There’s nothing like that.”
[‘TenThousandChoppingDonkey’ donated 10,000 won!]
– Could you share any Asteria tips or combos? They’re so hard to handle.
– Lecture videos would be cool.
– Tips from the 50 consecutive win Asteria master could entice even a diabetes patient!
– You should hold back a little, lol.
– I see you change runes every time. What’s the standard for going House, Attack Power, and Conqueror?
“Hmm…”
The current time was just before 6:15 PM. It felt rather awkward to end things now.
Starting on the hour to end on the hour felt so much tidier.
However, setting up a private training room just for a lecture felt tiresome, and I wasn’t too keen on that.
15 minutes was about the perfect time for reading bedtime stories to kids.
I promptly searched for ‘Asteria’ on the Tree Wiki.
– Oh, are they putting up guides on Tree Wiki?
– Heart racing!
– So excited!
-? This person clicked the wrong category, didn’t they?
[Asteria/Dialogue]
“Well then, I’ll read Asteria’s dialogues until 6.”
Asteria, the last survivor of the Selena race, had a life story that was disturbingly bleak and tragic to listen to.
Reciting her dialogues would help understand Asteria better.
“Selena’s plains are no more.”
“The stars are elegantly beautiful. It’s always the humans who give them meaning.”
“I’ll make you regret being alive.”
“They always backstab me sneakily.”
…
“Melt away.”
“Burn it.”
“Revenge of Selena.”
“Acel.”
“Riva.”
“Sai.”
“Ra Asteria Salva Ermum.”
“Ra Asteria Shallein Ksetan.”
“Ra Asteria Shuhata Phailum.”
“I wish to shine even in death.”
