"Old man, give me the usual..."
A loud voice echoed in the small restaurant as a man who appeared to be your average salaryman took a seat at the counter.
The restaurant exuded the ambiance of a typical traditional Japanese eatery, with soft orange lighting illuminating the tables on the side, providing a soothing atmosphere that invited comfort for all who visited to enjoy the delicacies.
"Alright!"
A man who seemed to be the owner of the restaurant replied with a small smile on his face as he finished preparing another dish for the customer.
The salaryman was a regular at the restaurant, coming almost every day and ordering the same menu each time.
Glancing around the restaurant, he shook his head and chuckled, "Seems like it's pretty quiet today..."
"Well, that's how it is. It can be busy sometimes, and quiet other times... It's pretty normal," the owner chuckled along.
"Hahaha, you're right!"
The salaryman laughed out loud, prompting all the other customers to look at him.
Feeling slightly embarrassed, he bowed, "Ah, my apologies everyone, I got too excited..."
"..."
The owner shook his head as he prepared the ingredients, skillfully moving around the kitchen.
The salaryman lit up in amazement.
"Your skills always amaze me, owner," the salaryman commented, marveling at the owner's knife skills.
It was so fast, yet so precise!
"Come on now, I'll turn cocky if you keep showering me with your flowery words."
"But I'm not lying though, that's some fine kitchen technique!"
"Hahaha, alright, alright..."
The owner continued to cook the salaryman's usual order as the ambiance started to grow peaceful.
The salaryman was slick with his words as he recounted funny stories from his day at work with his coworkers, and the owner responded calmly with a smile.
However...
Suddenly, the electricity went out.
"Huh, what is this?"
"No way, this is Tokyo though..."
Murmurs of exclamation echoed across the restaurant, which was now dimly lit by the moonlight filtering in through the windows.
"..."
Yet, the owner's smile vanished as he suddenly became devoid of any emotion.
Bang! Bang!
His figure rolled to the side before he leaped out from behind the kitchen counter. Some of his customers had suddenly pulled out guns and started shooting at him!
"Shit, he noticed!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The man who pulled out a gun shouted, prompting every single customer beside the salaryman to draw their weapons and aim at the owner.
"What the fuck is going on?"
The salaryman's voice was shaky as he felt thoroughly shaken by the on going tension.
"Hide under the table!"
The owner shouted.
His figure swiftly rolled, closing the distance with the attacker.
"Argghhhh!!"
He kicked the guy in the nuts, eliciting a agonizing groan, before sharply hitting him in the neck, putting him to sleep.
However, the attackers were relentless.
They immediately took out their knives, realizing that guns alone wouldn't be enough to kill the owner.
"Die, you bastard!"
A young woman shouted as she lunged forward, wielding a knife. The owner frowned and swiftly sidestepped, but the woman reacted quickly, swinging her arm again.
However, it was not enough.
The owner countered by kicking her wrist with his knee, causing her to drop the knife to the floor.
"...!"
Before she could raise her gun toward the owner, he acted faster, rendering her unconscious.
"Shit! This guy is definitely worth more than $15 million!"
The rest of the customers exclaimed, astonished by how effortlessly the owner took down their fellow assassins.
However, unlucky for them, they were in fact... facing the God of Death himself.
Slowly but surely, the loud clashes, gunfire, and sharp sounds of weapons died down as the owner incapacitated every single assassin without causing fatal harm.
"...Fuck, fuck, fuck! Raymond-san, did you kill them all?"
The salaryman hurriedly checked on the fallen assailants as soon as the conflict seemed to have ended.
"Don't worry, they're just unconscious," Raymond reassured him as he examined the fallen assassins.
He frowned after retrieving one of their phones and checked something on it.
"...What?"
The salaryman appeared stunned, knowing that these people were anything but average.
Yet, the owner took them down without a sound! That's riddiculuous!
"Anyway, are you alright?"
Raymond asked, noticing the paled expression on the salaryman's face. He patted the man on the shoulder and continued, "You should go home..."
However...
Squelch!
A sickening sound suddenly echoed through the restaurant as Raymond widened his eyes in disbelief.
"Urgh..."
A knife had lodged right into his heart, causing him to cough out a mouthful of blood.
He turned to look at the salaryman, whose expression now bore a smirk.
"You... You're one of them..."
Thud!
Raymond fell to his knees, feeling his strength slowly leaving his body.
Tap... tap... tap...
Footsteps echoed, drawing closer.
"Ah, Raymond... This is such an unfortunate event... The High Table had high hopes for you. We've made you famous by calling you the second coming of Baba Yaga, you should've kept working with us."
A deeper voice resounded as the electricity suddenly turned on, illuminating the restaurant.
A figure slowly made his way in, accompanied by a group of people in black suits.
Back then, there was Baba Yaga, who could kill three men with a fucking pencil.
And Raymond, he was renowned as the second coming of Baba Yaga because he could kill three men with a fucking eraser!
"...You're? You must be the new Elder..."
"Haha, you're sharp, just as I've heard..."
The Elder spoke, glancing around at the fallen assassins and shaking his head, "Still, you've remained true to your oath to cease killing until your death, haven't you?"
"Hahaha, isn't that amusing? You probably never imagined that your regular customer was one of our top assassins!"
The Elder chuckled as he patted the salaryman's shoulder while Raymond watched coldly.
"Now, don't give me that look. You knew I would come for you, didn't you? I can't allow someone as... well... unique as you to remain unaffiliated with the High Table."
The Elder's words made sense, especially considering the last time they allowed someone of the same level, it led to a major disaster when Baba Yaga turned the tables.
The salaryman watched coldly as Raymond suddenly chuckled before coughing up another mouthful of blood.
"You can still laugh in this situation? You're truly a damn lunatic..."
"Kekeke...I know someone of high position would come but to think that I'd hit a jackpot..."
Raymond continued, his gaze cold as he looked at the Elder who had mocked him, "You think I wouldn't notice?"
"Huh? What are you trying to say?"
"Urgh..."
Raymond felt his vision slipping away as he knew he was about to die.
However, he maintained a bloody smile on his face as he continued, "You know what gives you away?"
"...!"
The Elder and the salaryman suddenly felt uneasy at these words, a chill running down their spines.
"It's your job!"
Raymond chuckled, blood stemming from his mouth as he looked at both the Elder and the salaryman, "No salaryman could afford my cooking every day, you moron..."
"...I'll see you in hell..."
Raymond felt his vision darken as he uttered his last words before he fell forward with a thud, lifeless.
However, the Elder suddenly widened his eyes in shock and shouted, "Fuck! Get out of this place!"
Raymond had sworn he would stop killing until his last breath, but he hadn't said he would continue honoring his oath after his death...
...BOOOM!
"Crazy motherfucker!"
The Elder mumbled as he realized Raymond had prepared explosives under the wooden floor of his restaurant.
Fire started to consume his whole being as a massive explosion was triggered, enveloping the entire restaurant in a blast!
