Chapter 192: Marine Hero Garp? Qin Muyin Almost Couldn't Hold It In
A man capable of stealing others' Devil Fruit abilities.
Such a power alone was an unacceptable existence!
Not to mention that his reappearance had caused the Marines significant losses, costing them an admiral, a branch base, and countless Marine soldiers!
This alone showed that this individual held great malice toward the Marines.
No wonder the Marines were heavily focused on recruiting, accepting all kinds of new talent.
A short while later…
Chen Ye and Qin Muyin left the captain's quarters and were assigned a room on the second level.
The room had two beds, one on each side, resembling a sleeper compartment on an old green train.
It wasn't that Vice Admiral Mouse didn't want to provide a better room for them, but conditions on the ship were limited.
Apart from the captain's quarters, this was already considered one of the best rooms available.
Chen Ye and Qin Muyin didn't mind. They weren't the type to complain about rough conditions. Besides, staying here was far better than being crammed into the cabin with others.
At that moment, Qin Muyin suddenly activated her telekinesis, forming a transparent barrier that enveloped the entire room.
Only then did she say to Chen Ye, "If there's anything you need to say, you can speak freely now. No one will hear us."
Chen Ye was a bit surprised. He hadn't expected Qin Muyin to be able to use her telekinesis in this way.
"Captain Qin, your mission is to become a Marine vice admiral within a year, correct? But what if you become an admiral within that time? Would that increase the reward?"
"The mission details didn't mention that, but if we exceed the target, I assume the reward would increase as well."
"Alright!" Chen Ye responded. "From now on, you'll take the lead, and I'll assist you in securing the position of Marine admiral within a year."
Originally, Chen Ye's plan was different, but the appearance of that transmigrator made him sense a potential threat, prompting him to adopt a more cautious approach.
Qin Muyin, however, wasn't so easy to fool. Unlike Tang Zichen, who was willing to follow Chen Ye's lead, Qin Muyin immediately countered, "Are you planning to let me be the face while you stay in the shadows, ready to strike?"
Chen Ye didn't deny it. He nodded, "The individual that Vice Admiral Mouse mentioned—I have a feeling we'll cross paths with him sooner or later. I think the best approach is to catch him off guard and take him down without giving him a chance to fight back."
Qin Muyin thought it over and understood that Chen Ye's approach was the most strategic. Keeping Chen Ye as a hidden asset would indeed be more effective.
"Understood."
Chen Ye then remembered something and said, "Since we've revealed our abilities today, we'll definitely be under scrutiny when we reach Marine headquarters. The top brass might question us, considering our unknown backgrounds. So, we'd better coordinate our story in advance..."
Meanwhile…
Back in the captain's quarters, Vice Admiral Mouse took out a small snail-like creature.
This was a Den Den Mushi, a communication device in the pirate world that worked like a telephone.
"Bzzt bzzt…"
At that moment, the Den Den Mushi began emitting a strange noise.
A few moments later, as someone answered on the other end, the snail's expression changed.
Its once dull eyes suddenly sharpened, and its face took on a stern expression, even simulating a pair of glasses.
It was eerily lifelike!
Upon seeing the Den Den Mushi's transformed expression, Vice Admiral Mouse respectfully greeted, "Fleet Admiral Sengoku!"
"Mouse!" Fleet Admiral Sengoku's deep and authoritative voice came from the Den Den Mushi. "Contacting me this late—what's the matter?"
Vice Admiral Mouse said, "Yes! During this recruitment mission, I encountered two young, powerful individuals, one of whom possesses a terrifying strength nearly at the level of an admiral. Neither has a criminal record, and I believe they could be groomed as potential candidates for admiral."
"Oh?"
Hearing this, Fleet Admiral Sengoku's surprised voice came through the Den Den Mushi. "In that case, set sail back to Marineford first thing tomorrow and bring them in."
"And the remaining recruitment points?"
"I'll send Doberman to take over and handle the new recruits."
"Understood, Fleet Admiral Sengoku!"
The next day, at dawn, the warship began its journey back to Marine Headquarters on Marineford Island.
By mid-morning, the ship arrived smoothly at the island.
As the new recruits began disembarking at Marine Headquarters, Vice Admiral Mouse approached Chen Ye and Qin Muyin.
"There's an important person who wishes to meet you."
Chen Ye and Qin Muyin exchanged a glance, their expressions calm. They had anticipated this after displaying their strength.
Following Vice Admiral Mouse, they left the room and stepped onto the deck.
A massive fortress loomed before them, covering nearly the entire island and radiating an imposing presence.
The enormous kanji for "Marine" was displayed prominently on the walls, visible even from a great distance.
Despite their familiarity with skyscrapers, both felt awe at the sight of this massive fortress.
Chen Ye was relatively composed, having seen it in the anime and knowing what to expect.
But Qin Muyin was genuinely astonished. A building nearly as large as the island itself?
"This way, please."
Vice Admiral Mouse led them off the ship, and Chen Ye and Qin Muyin quickly followed.
They were escorted to a dimly lit room, where they could barely make out a large figure sitting at the far end, motionless and imposing.
"Vice Admiral Garp, I've brought them," Vice Admiral Mouse announced respectfully.
Though they were of the same rank, Mouse knew his place and addressed the legendary Marine hero, Vice Admiral Garp, with deference.
Turning to Chen Ye and Qin Muyin, he introduced them with a formal tone, "This is Marine hero, Vice Admiral Garp."
Chen Ye smiled slightly and greeted, "Hello, Vice Admiral Garp."
Qin Muyin followed suit, echoing the same greeting.
At that moment, Garp stood up from his chair, stepping out of the shadows and approaching them.
Upon seeing Garp's appearance, Qin Muyin almost couldn't keep a straight face.
The old man wore a cartoonish dog-head hat, giving him a playful, almost childish look, and he was even picking his nose with his pinky finger…
It was hard to believe that this man was a legendary figure and a Marine hero!
Chen Ye, however, remained calm. He knew that Garp had a mischievous streak and often behaved playfully, though he was very dependable in serious matters.
"I'll take my leave now," said Vice Admiral Mouse.
Garp simply waved him off and turned his gaze to Chen Ye and Qin Muyin.
The interrogation they had anticipated didn't come. Instead, Garp let out a hearty laugh and said, "Not bad! You're both promising!"
"From now on, you'll undergo a three-month training period with me… I hope that by the end of it, you'll both become true Marines!"
