I Became the Scoundrel of a Chaebol Family.

Chapter 1 - 01. Adaptation Complete. (1)

Demonic Incheon 2077.

It’s an open-world game set in Manchuria and the Shandong Peninsula after World War III.

As you can roughly tell from the title, it’s a near-future cyberpunk genre set in 2077.

There’s an incredibly massive, national power-level mega-corporation that controls everything in the world…. Simply put, it’s a world where money rules everything.
Add a hefty dose of Korean nationalism to that, and you get ‘Demonic Incheon 2077.’

In the story, South Korea is the biggest beneficiary of World War III, which broke out in 2027, becoming a massive empire that annexed not only North Korea but also the Three Northeastern Provinces of China*, Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and the Shandong Peninsula.

The country’s population alone is 400 million. Though it’s problematic that most of them are Chinese…

Players can choose between a male or female protagonist and play freely. They can fight for justice against mega-corporations or, conversely, become a corporate lackey and cause all sorts of chaos.

Or they can join a government agency to keep corporations in check, eliminate corruption, and restore national discipline.

If that’s not your thing, you can accept a contract from the demon realm that covets the human world to become a ‘Great Demon’ and create a demonic world, or become an ‘Anti-Demon’ who checks and hunts such demons to protect humanity.

Anyway, the visuals are excellent.

This game captivated many gamers and opened their wallets, and I was one of them.

The problem is that they tried to cram in everything, making it a fucking piece of shit game.

Especially the optimization was so fucking terrible that I barely finished the ending and quit right after.
And I immediately left a review.

I suspect that review is probably why I was possessed into this game.
They probably wanted to make me suffer in this shit-hole world for insulting their game.
But it seems they couldn’t control who I possessed.

‘This is even better.’

In reality, I was a basement-dwelling loner loser,
But when I opened my eyes, I was a third-generation chaebol heir.
And in this world where corporate power is at its peak!

“Huu….”

I stared blankly at the rising cigarette smoke.

“Today’s date is….”

“August 24th, 2076, young master.”

A well-dressed man in a suit answered my mumbled words.
With neatly slicked-back hair and black sunglasses, he stood firmly beside me as I was sprawled out like a layabout.

He’s Han Kyungbaek, a secretary-type figure who manages and assists with my every move.
In the group, he’s generally known as Director Han.

‘Act natural. Like Ko Muyeol would.’

I tried to steady my pounding heart.
Though it was quite difficult due to the excitement of starting a new life, I managed to suppress it by recalling the personality and memories of ‘Ko Muyeol,’ my new name.

“August 24th…. Yesterday was Victory Memorial Day?”

“You remembered.”

What’s with this guy?
Feeling indignant, I turned to look at him, and Director Han immediately lowered his head with an ‘oops.’
He bowed his head just from me, looking at him without saying anything.
Is this what power is?

“I apologize, young master.”

‘Ko Muyeol,’ whom I possessed, is an orphan like me.
Of course, he wasn’t originally an orphan, but he lost both parents in an accident when he was young.

Perhaps due to that trauma, Ko Muyeol grew up to be Korea Group’s biggest troublemaker and headache. Yesterday, on Victory Memorial Day, Korea’s biggest holiday, he was just fucking prostitutes, which says it all.

As a result, there were four women passed out drunk around the bed I’m sitting on now.

‘Completely sex-obsessed.’

I have all the memories.
But it’s quite ambiguous.
How should I put it? I know everything Ko Muyeol has done through ‘study’ and gained ‘knowledge.’
It’s closer to acquiring ‘information’ rather than memories.
Of course, even about all the fucking this bastard did yesterday. Though I didn’t know how it felt…

Well, that’s fortunate.
Even though it’s possession or whatever, ‘I’ should exist purely as ‘me,’ and it would be weird to unnecessarily have Ko Muyeol’s emotions. This level is just right.

‘But still… This bastard might love sex, but skipping Victory Memorial Day is just stupid.’

Victory Memorial Day is a very important event for the Korea Group.
It’s not simply commemorating victory—it’s where they invite major business and political figures of the country to demonstrate Korea Group’s might to the world. Internally, they divide various national interests among themselves and exert the group’s influence on important domestic issues. In short, it’s no exaggeration to say it’s one of the most important days in Korea Group’s control over this country.

Yet on such a day, he was fucking prostitutes…

‘According to the setting, this incident was the last straw that got Ko Muyeol completely excluded from the succession line. What was it, Korea Entertainment? He inherited some unknown company.’

Eventually, when the main game story starts, Ko Muyeol is never mentioned again.

“Young master, the Chairman requests your presence at Geumsusan.”

“….”

I put out the not-yet-finished cigarette by crushing it on the bed and got up.
My head throbbed slightly.

“Geumsusan….”

“He is very angry.”

“I’m sure he is.”

I roughly put on some clothes and left the room.
Director Han followed.
As for the women in the room… The cleanup crew will probably take care of them.

When we got outside, five young men and women quickly bowed. Then, one man ran ahead to hold the elevator while the rest formed a protective formation around me.

At my left diagonal front was a woman with a long, swaying ponytail. Her particularly bouncy buttocks caught my eye.

‘….’

Has becoming rich made me lose self-control?

I ended up reaching out my hand.

‘Ah.’

If this was pre-possession Korea, I’d be in handcuffs immediately. It was a startling moment.

Fortunately, the woman continued walking without any reaction.
In 2076, mega-corporations ruled Korea, and it was nearly impossible to go against a chaebol’s wishes.
Whatever they might be.

The reality of being possessed suddenly started sinking in.

‘Right…. I’m a chaebol now.’

And in 2076 Korea, where corporate power has reached its peak,

Grab.

“….”

Feeling the softness fully enveloping my left hand, I squeeze thoroughly, and the owner of the buttocks showed no sign of dislike.

Even when I extended my fingers to subtly touch her pussy, it was the same.
She probably wouldn’t resist even if I knocked her down and took her right here.

‘The texture is killer. So this is a woman’s ass.’

I groped as if entranced.

To me, who only played games in my basement, such a sensation was incredibly stimulating.

Geumsusan refers to the ‘Korea Solar Palace’ located at Pyongyang’s Geumsusan.

When North Korea existed, it was called the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun or the Presidential Palace. After unification, it was used as the Victory Memorial Hall.

Around 2050, the current Chairman purchased it and used it as the family’s main residence.

The fact that they’re using the Victory Memorial Hall as their home shows how much Korea Group cares about Victory Memorial Day. National victory commemoration events are still held here. Yesterday, the President, Prime Minister, and everyone probably came to Geumsusan.

“Tsk tsk tsk tsk.”

That’s why Korea Group’s Chairman Ko Youngman clicked his tongue as soon as he saw me.
Despite being over 70 years old, he looked to be in his thirties at a glance thanks to highly advanced anti-aging technology.

“I apologize, Chairman.”

Even though I apologetically bowed, he turned his back as if giving up any expectations.
He doesn’t say a word.

“Young master.”

Instead, a secretary who was attending him approached with a paper envelope.

“This is a gift from the Chairman for you.”

“A gift?”

I received the paper envelope.
This must be…. the documents transferring that Korea Entertainment company or whatever.

Rustle.
While taking out the documents, I threw the paper envelope on the floor with chaebol-like rudeness, and the secretary hurriedly bowed to pick it up while explaining.

“It’s an entertainment agency called Korea Entertainment. Though their contracted celebrities aren’t much yet, it has a capital of 100 billion won.” (Around 71 million USD.)

“Wow. 100 billion.”

Even in 2076, the won’s value is the same as the pre-possession Korean won.
More precisely, prices rose with time, but through denomination, that’s how it ended up according to the setting.

Of course, 100 billion won is an enormous amount. You could buy several houses in the heart of Seoul’s Gangnam and still have money left.
However,

‘To a chaebol, this is pocket change.’

The officially revealed assets alone of this era’s Korean chaebols, particularly the Ko family of Korea Group, are 1,300 trillion won.

1,300 trillion!
Even with quite a few family members dividing it up, each individual must have at least hundreds of trillions for the math to roughly work out. And that’s just the revealed assets.
But I only get 100 billion?

‘Fucking idiot. Just how much trouble did he cause.’

They say human greed knows no bounds,
Becoming a third-generation chaebol is already an excellent start, but it made my blood boil thinking that because of this bastard’s idiocy, I only(?) got 100 billion won.

“Young master, a meal has been prepared. Shall we go eat?”

The secretary carefully implied that the business was concluded.
Anyone who isn’t completely stupid would understand the Chairman’s intention.

‘Sigh. I’ll have to build it up myself, what else can I do.’

I took back the paper envelope from the secretary’s hand, put the documents in, and bowed to the Chairman who was still turning his back.

“I’ll take my leave now. … I’m sorry, Chairman.”

The Chairman didn’t answer.

Originally a palace that became a victory memorial hall before becoming the chaebol family’s main residence, every corner of the Solar Palace was extremely luxurious.

Even though it’s just a corridor, world-renowned masterpieces hang at hand-span intervals, and sculptures exuding modern beauty are embedded here and there.

On the ceiling was intricately carved a story in pictures whose beginning and end were unclear.

‘Just the paintings visible here would be worth over 100 billion.’

Just how much did he get on their bad side?
When I briefly traced Ko Muyeol’s memories… I thought it was understandable.

‘Stupid little bastard.’

“Stupid little bastard.”

“?”

What? Who is it?
Who expressed my thoughts so accurately?
Was it the woman in front of me?

Flowing long, straight hair, sharp eyes, and a tear mole on the right.
She was an extraordinary beauty who caught the eye.
When I stopped, she covered her mouth demurely with a blatantly fake surprised expression.

“Oh my, did you hear? I’m sorry.”

She’s obviously speaking out loud on purpose but acts disgustingly fake.

‘…Ko Hayan, is it? Ko Muyeol’s half-sister.’

She’s a capable woman, unlike Ko Muyeol, who’s the ultimate combination of a thug and incompetence.
Later, she was appointed to a high position at Korea Card or something. I don’t remember the details.

“You always seemed so out of it, I didn’t know your hearing was so sharp~. I thought you were on drugs or something~.”

“Sister, you thought so too? I also think Muyeol is stupid. We’re of the same mind.”

“What?”

“Well then.”

I bowed slightly to her stunned face and walked past.
I heard her voice muttering behind me, ‘What’s with that bastard. Did he eat something wrong?’

‘I didn’t eat anything wrong, I got possessed. Your brother’s body is sick.’

Not in a good way.
