I Became the Final Boss’s Mentor

Chapter 37

After investing about an hour answering all the questions from the people in the slums…

Of course, there were little incidents here and there, like Nameless saying unnecessary things…

Ugh, remembering it makes my head hurt again.

I immediately threw myself onto the bed.

“I’m so tired…”

“Are you tired too, Master?”

“I’m a human too.”

I was a bit shocked by Nameless’ expression that seemed seriously to not believe that.

What does this guy really think of me?

Well…

In fact, my body isn’t tired at all.

It’s my mind that’s exhausted…

“Hah…”

I sighed and rolled around on the bed.

Usually, I offload everything that comes up to Nameless, so I don’t feel this tired, but today I had to speak in front of so many people, and the mental strain is no joke.

I had actually planned to push it onto Nameless this time too, but he adamantly refused, insisting he couldn’t do this job.

As I glared at him in frustration, he tilted his head and offered me a strawberry.

Hmm, I didn’t ask for this…

But still, since he’s giving it to me, I should accept it.

Disregarding someone’s goodwill is a terrible sin!

Making excuses to myself, I nodded and chewed on the strawberry he handed me.

“Umm, thanks.”

When I lightly expressed my gratitude, Nameless shook his head with a pleased expression.

“It’s nothing.”

But more importantly, why isn’t this guy shifting his gaze elsewhere?

It’s prime strawberry-tasting time, and his stare is making me oblivious to what I’m even eating.

I quickly chewed and swallowed what was in my mouth and then opened my mouth.

“What is it?”

“Ah, I have something to ask; I was waiting for you to finish eating.”

Hmm, if you’re going to ask something between us, is there really a need to wait…?

I nodded vaguely to signal him to just ask, and Nameless put on a serious face.

What is it… is it something important?

My expression turned serious too, my brows furrowing.

‘What in the world could the question be!’ I waited for him to open his mouth.

“Uh, when we travel in the future, will they be coming with us?”

The somewhat deflating question came back.

“Hm, was that why you set the mood like this to ask that?”

“Yes, it’s important to me.”

“Hah…”

I narrowed my eyes and stroked my chin.

It would indeed be important.

Since Nameless has only been hanging around with me, I guess being with a lot of people must be awkward for him.

“Hehe, still a baby, huh?”

“…”

As I lifted the corners of my mouth in a knowing smile and nodded, Nameless’s eyebrows twitched.

Of course, it’s just going to be Nameless and me wandering together.

How could I take all those people with me across the world?

To elaborate, it all started when Nameless and I stepped out into the world, and although my goal is important, the promise I made with Nameless is just as precious, so I can’t neglect it.

Nameless must have thought about that when he spoke to me.

But it’s not like I’d just ask, “Am I just going to leave that many people behind?”

That’s not me either.

I’m no wicked person…. Or at least, I don’t think I am.

The ultimate goal of gathering them is to build my own independent force, but since they’re basically humans of the Demon King’s faction on the surface, I plan to leave them to manageable care and check in on them later.

Soon, Lili will be coming here with Nameless’s sword, so I can ask then.

As long as they have food and a warm place to stay, they should be grateful, right?

This might seem a bit irresponsible, but I really can’t help it.

…What else do I do?

Maybe I can throw a few of those books that Nameless wrote when he was young to them, and by the time they finish studying, I’ll come back for them; I’m sure they’ll understand.

Well, if I dig into it…

They were more like subordinates I gathered than disciples anyway.

For me, having Nameless as my disciple is plenty.

I’ve already told them what they need to do after growing a bit, so there shouldn’t be any issues.

Hmm, people should live efficiently.

I couldn’t help but smile at my own cleverness.

As I shared this fact with Nameless, he became noticeably brighter.

“Is it really something to be that happy about?”

“Yes, how could I not be happy?”

Even using my annoyance as an excuse, his beaming smile while tidying his clothes made my mood slightly complicated.

Hmm, well.

Isn’t it better that way?

I smiled alongside him and closed my eyes.

I’m way too tired.

After coming back from the slums, as I washed the dirty clothes and organized my stuff, I started to hear small, regular breathing sounds coming from the bed where the Master was.

“Master? Are you sleeping?”

As I finished tidying up my clothes and looked at the bed where the Master was, it was clear that what she said about being “tired” wasn’t a joke; even though it wasn’t fully night yet, she was deeply asleep.

Well, the Master often struggles with conversing with people, so after answering all those questions from many people today, she must be genuinely tired.

I got up and carefully positioned the Master, who was sprawled out, to lie properly.

Just then, as I was about to cover her with a blanket, I noticed the bandages she usually leaves off when she sleeps.

…Anyway, this isn’t right.

Feeling a bit heated, I shook my head and covered the blanket up to just below the Master’s neck.

“Master, sweet dreams.”

I turned off the light and laid down on the bed.

Feeling a pleasant warmth in my arms, I squinted my eyes awake.

Could it be…?

“…Again today?”

It seemed like everything was shaping up perfectly, but there’s just one thing.

There’s something I wish the Master would fix because it puts me in an awkward position.

“Hah… Master.”

I looked down at the sleeping Master in my arms.

She’s so cute…

No, that’s not it.

The Master has a terrible sleeping habit.

The person who sleeps shorter than anyone else can fall into such deep sleep that you can’t wake her up even if you try shaking her. It was really troublesome when I first experienced this as a kid.

Back then, in my lack of knowledge, I thought she saw me as just a doll or something, taking it somewhat positively compared to now.

The issue is that after getting a bit older and developing feelings I shouldn’t…

Well, I won’t mention what the problem is, but as you know, it’s quite a dilemma.

At this rate, I might accidentally cross the line and it’s why I decided to have separate rooms, but since we started living together outside the mountain, I’ve always shared a room, and it’s genuinely giving me a headache.

Besides, how could I say something like, “Let’s use separate rooms”? The Master is known to pout and spread rumors if she feels neglected.

The only saving grace is that the Master and I use different beds, but how did she end up over here in my arms?

Feeling a bit unfortunate, I planned to splash some cold water on my face, but the Master had completely wrapped one of my arms, making even that impossible.

It’s not like I can sleep like this again, so I tried to slowly pull my arm from the Master’s grasp.

“Hmm, where are you going…?”

The Master’s arm dove deeper into my waist, and like a playful cat, she started rubbing her face against my chest.

Soon, something very soft and… well, squishy was touching my upper belly.

“Ah, Master, please…”

I felt a rush of heat course through my entire body, making me dizzy.

As much as I wanted to hug the Master tightly and fall asleep like this, thinking about how she’d look at me when she wakes up gave me chills.

‘No, I can’t…!’

I bit my lip hard enough to draw blood to barely keep myself sane, twisting my body desperately to free myself.

Every time I moved, the Master’s legs wrapped closer around me, making me dizzy again, but thankfully, finally, I managed to escape with sheer determination.

“Hah, huh…”

I took a deep breath and wiped my face.

With my face still flushed, I shot a resentful glance at the Master, who had no bandages covering her chest.

‘Please.’

I quickly shut my eyes tight.

‘I didn’t see anything.’

Wait, how could someone with such terrible sleeping habits take off their bandages?

Doesn’t make any sense…

With my eyes closed, I lifted the slumbering Master and started moving towards the bed she originally lay on.

Not being able to see ahead with my eyes closed, I bumped into things here and there, but every time that happened, the Master would wrap her arms around my neck instinctively.

I couldn’t afford an accident at this rate and held my tongue nervously to stay focused.

After going through that arduous time, I managed to lay the Master gently on the bed and then collapsed onto the bed myself in utter exhaustion.

My heart was still pounding wildly.

I rubbed my face with my hand.

“Hah…”

It seems like getting up before the Master today would be a big no-no.

– Cheon Ha-rang

Nameless seems to be waking up later than me again today.

“Tsk, tsk, what does he do at night?”

I understand the mind of a man, but I do wish he would exercise a bit of restraint.
