Chapter 9 - National 'Disaster' Level vs National 'Disaster' Level
Chapter 9: National ‘Disaster’ Level vs National ‘Disaster’ Level
Why was the ‘Smiling Monster Incident’ called the worst event since the establishment of Korea?
The reason was simple.
According to the original plotline from ten years ago, the current power gathered here was insufficient to stop the angel.
Rolling would lose to the angel, and the naval base, including Uncle Lee Seok-gyu, would be annihilated by it.
That was the original history.
So, the moment Aunt Rolling got pinned down by the ring of light, I dashed outside.
Of course, I was transformed.
The only advantage of being a Monster Hunter was the stats that could go up to 19.
Running on the surface of the water with overwhelming speed was no big deal.
I leaped to Busan Port just before the despairing original history unfolded.
‘Grrrr…’
‘Huff, huff…’
I faced the angel, the starting point of it all.
‘The Jamsil Monster has contacted the angel!’
‘There are two human-type monsters…’
‘Korea… at least Busan is no longer…!’
Watching the two human-type monsters face off from beyond the monitor, the naval base had grown weary of even despair.
‘Rolling…’
Even Uncle Lee Seok-gyu collapsed in disbelief at the appearance of two human-type monsters.
But unlike my dad.
‘…Fighting.’
For some reason.
Sofia, unable to view the newly appeared jet-black monster in a negative light.
‘Please protect Mom. Monster Uncle!’
Clasped her hands together and prayed earnestly with a pure heart.
Bang-!
That prayer definitely reached.
In the next moment, what happened beyond the monitor stunned not just the naval base but also the U.S. troops on the deck witnessing it firsthand.
‘The monster…’
‘Attacked the monster…’
The Jamsil Monster had driven its fist into the angel’s face before it could even react.
Uncle Lee Seok-gyu.
Brigadier General Talisman.
The Chief of Naval Operations.
And even Rolling, who was right behind them, were all astonished.

Before fighting a monster, a seasoned fighter would typically identify the opponent’s movements, characteristics, and attack patterns.
However.
‘Huff, huff…’
Aunt Rolling.
Though she adopted me for her daughter, she took care of me like her own child, my first mother figure.
Seeing her endure the pain.
‘Kya-ha… ugh?!’
### Chapter 9: National ‘Disaster’ Level vs National ‘Disaster’ Level Part 2
Bang-!
“Uwooooooo!!”
My body reacted before my mind could catch up.
Losing all reason, I roared like a real monster and drove my fist into the angel’s face.
Despite its delicate appearance, the angel, due to its human-like form, bled from its nose and was sent flying to the far end of the deck.
“Kya-ha… hahaha!”
The angel barely managed to avoid falling into the sea by spreading its wings and flying back up, narrowly escaping a fatal plunge.
However, the damage was done.
“Pffft…!?”
The angel tried to laugh again but coughed up blood and staggered for a moment.
It must have been in a lot of pain since it destroyed the ring of light that had bound the soldiers on the deck.
“Does it mean it can’t afford to pay attention to anything else?”
“Hunter! Are you alright?!”
“We’ll come to support you immediately!”
“…! Step back for now. The angel was knocked away, but there’s still another monster here!”
“Oh…!”
The now free soldiers initially rushed to rescue Aunt Rolling but then stopped abruptly and turned to look at me, their faces drenched in sweat.
But that was all they did.
Swoosh.
“?!”
“The monster is… giving way?”
My target was the angel alone.
I couldn’t let Aunt Rolling and the soldiers get caught up in our fight.
So, I deliberately walked towards the end of the deck where the angel had flown, creating distance from Aunt Rolling.
“Now, quickly!”
“Hunter, let me help you!”
“Ah, yes… thank you…”
The soldiers swiftly moved again, supporting Aunt Rolling and leading her inside the ship.
“Phew. That’s a relief.”
As I sighed in relief.
“Watch out!”
“Krerk?”
Aunt Rolling shouted at me from the passageway connected to the interior.
At that moment, as I turned to see what was happening.
Buzz.
“Krerk?!”
“Kya-hahahaha!”
In my moment of carelessness, the angel had trapped me with another ring of light.
And as if waiting for this opportunity, a massive shadow from the sky began to cover me.
“That’s…!”
“This is insane…”
A giant hand, the size of half an aircraft carrier, emerged from the ring of light. It clenched into a fist and plummeted towards me.
“Rolling! Get inside now!”
Boom!!
The entire aircraft carrier tilted violently.
Fortunately, everyone had evacuated inside before it happened, allowing Rolling and the soldiers to lie down on the floor and remain unharmed.
The shockwave from the incident was faintly felt even at the naval base watching through the monitors.
It was unbelievable, but the power of one being had momentarily caused an earthquake.
“To cause such a massive energy wave…!”
“This is the national ‘disaster’ level monster we’ve only heard about in stories…”
“Did it fail to take down the other monster with it?”
No matter the method, that angel had to be dealt with here and now.
But upon seeing the true power of the angel, the overwhelming strength of the creature broke the spirits of those inside the naval base.
“To think the difference between an A-level and one step above could be this vast…!”
Even Lee Seok-gyu, the Chief of Staff with the power of a national-level hunter, was sweating nervously.
“…It’s not over yet.”
“Sofia?”
“Monster Uncle… hasn’t fallen yet!”
Sofia said confidently, looking beyond the monitor.
And as she said.
“Oh my god…!”
In the mess hall, which had become a wreck from the carrier’s tilt, Brigadier General Talisman rose again and inadvertently exclaimed at the sight on the screen.
“Grrrr…!”
“Kya-ha?!”
The angel, who had been about to laugh in victory, suddenly closed its mouth in terror.
The deck, designed to withstand any shock from modern weaponry, had nearly been destroyed by the immense force.
But the jet-black monster stood there, having taken the enormous fist of divine retribution from the sky.
He was unharmed, save for his head slightly lowered from the direct hit.
“Uwooooooooo!!”
Roaring, he began to tear apart the light ring holding him in place with sheer brute strength, crouching down and leaving a deep dent in the cracked deck.
Thunk.
Then, gathering power in his legs, he leaped up, piercing through the fist that had tried to crush him, reaching the angel in the blink of an eye.
“Kraaaaaa!”
What followed was inevitable.
Without giving the angel a chance to react, he drove his knee into the angel’s abdomen.
The force pierced through the air, through the angel’s body, and soared into the sky.
“My God…”
“The sky…!”
The blow punched a hole through the dark clouds far above the aircraft carrier.
“The clouds over Busan Port have dissipated.”
“He changed the weather…?”
“This is just too unbelievable…”
Both the naval base and the interior of the aircraft carrier were completely stunned by the appearance of a monster even greater than the national ‘disaster’ level.
Regardless of their shock.
At this point, the angel should have been close to death.
However, this was the monster that had been deemed the worst since the founding of Korea, even up to the original story’s conclusion.
“Kya, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!”
The angel continued to grow stronger during the fight, a trait usually reserved for protagonists. Not only did it regenerate its ruptured abdomen, but it also sprouted an additional pair of wings from its back.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
“This… this can’t be…”
“What’s happening?”
“The entity known as the angel is increasing its stats…”
“What?!”
“The current measured stats with our radar are limited to agility, but the numbers are…! Oh my god?!”
“The angel’s agility stat has increased! It’s now a staggering 15!”
“What…”
“It increased by two points at once?!”
Summoning a ring of light in front of its mouth, the angel began to chew and consume it.
As it did, slender, grotesque skeletal arms emerged from its sides in place of wings.
Then suddenly,
Whoosh.
The angel vanished from the screen.
“Kya-ha!”
“Krrk?!”
In the next instant, its supersonic punch struck the jet-black monster’s abdomen, sending them both crashing down to the deck of the aircraft carrier.
What followed was a scene of pure carnage.
The jet-black monster couldn’t even stand properly, its feet turned inward, and its arms hung limply at its sides.
In contrast, the angel, with movements reminiscent of a whip, repeatedly created sonic booms, intent on tearing its opponent to shreds.
“It’s over…”
“Yes, it seems that way.”
“Then I’ll be the next to face it.”
At the naval base, they were already certain of the outcome and began to decide who would confront the angel next. Without any discussion, Lee Seok-gyu volunteered himself.
“Dad…”
“Sofia. I’ll bring Mom back safely. Just wait a little longer, okay?”
Before heading out, he knelt on one knee in front of his daughter, trying to calm her down.
“But… look over there…”
Following Sofia’s pointed finger beyond him to the screen.
“Kya-ha?! Kya-hahahahaha?!”
Lee Seok-gyu’s satisfied smile froze, his mouth gaping open in shock.
Meanwhile, inside the aircraft carrier’s mess hall, Brigadier General Talisman faced Rolling and the soldiers, observing the jet-black monster on the monitor.
Standing in a stance with feet turned inward, weight centered low, in the so-called Three-Point Stance.
“What do you think, Miss Rolling? My stance and that of the monster on the monitor look similar, don’t they?”
“Yes… they look exactly the same…”
“Hmm… then it’s certain.”
This was the most fundamental stance of a particular martial art.
Always advancing.
Always resolute.
Always enduring.
A martial art that deems powerless justice as ineffectual, and power without justice as mere violence.
A single flower that blooms at the end of enduring pain.
“Kya-ha-hah?!”
The angel, having resurrected from death and even undergone evolution, realized why the jet-black monster hadn’t evaded its attacks but merely absorbed them.
The realization came as its arms, which it had swung thinking victory was assured, were instead broken.
From the beginning, dodging was never an option for this creature.
“The entity known as the angel’s arms…”
“Have been completely torn off! Presumed to be obliterated!”
“The one delivering the blow got damaged instead…?”
The naval base headquarters was in utter shock.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Talisman, who had extensive experience in martial arts during his tenure with the U.S. Forces Japan, recognized the technique immediately. This particular martial art focuses on learning how to take hits before delivering them.
“To endure to such an extent… I don’t know how it came to use this martial art, but as a practitioner of the same discipline, I must respect it.”
Despite having learned it himself, he could never employ it effectively in combat.
Seeing the monster perfectly execute this extreme form of martial arts, he could only admire in awe.
The next moment.
“Krrk?”
“Is it over?”
“Kyaah?!”
Just as the angel, now armless, attempted to take flight once more, I stomped on its foot to pin it down.
“Grrrr.”
“I endured.”
“Krrk. Krrk.”
“Now it’s your turn to suffer.”
To truly end all of this.
The creature that would have otherwise destroyed all of Korea’s dreams and future.
Channeling all my strength into one final punch, I aimed at the angel’s face.
“Kyokushin Karate – Basic Straight Punch.”
Bam.
The sound was insignificant, a mere whisper compared to the roar of a jet engine.
However, even the flutter of a butterfly’s wings can start a hurricane.
The blow that shattered the angel’s skull continued through the deck of the aircraft carrier.
“The sea…!”
It literally split the expansive waters of Busan Port in half, extending beyond the horizon.
The impact was profound and undeniable, showcasing the sheer power of the Kyokushin Karate technique executed with precision and unparalleled strength. The aftermath left both allies and adversaries in stunned silence, a testament to the overwhelming might of the national ‘disaster’ level monster.
