Chapter 20: Vision of the past
=== POV Siana ===
I landed and leaned the woman against a wall on the sidewalk.
I have a terrible feeling that the attacks are just beginning...
My eyes went in the direction of the path in which the wolves had disappeared.
I turned back to the woman and made sure she was healthy and had no injuries. After a quick inspection, I couldn't find anything, and her breathing was stable.
Since I couldn't find anything, I left her because I couldn't stay any longer.
I hurried to the supermarket. I didn't want to come home too late. On the way, I thought about what to cook, because besides my hatred of mushrooms, I actually ate everything. My favorite food was spicy, but then the problem came up. Avila prefers not spicy dishes, so I've always cooked dishes that I could spice up afterward for myself.
Today I'm making currywurst1Currywurst! It's quick to cook, and I can spice it up for myself!?
It didn't take long to get to the supermarket. I grabbed a shopping basket and walked through the front rows.
=== A little later, Siana's home
"I'm exhausted."
I let myself fall on the sofa after entering the house. It was tranquil. Both Fen and Avila were not at home. Fen was very peculiar, and since he refused to go for a walk with Avila, Avila or I put him in front of the door. He was often gone for hours but returned every evening for dinner.
In return, Avila tried to find a job, her statement was, "We are in another world, so I also want to understand how people live here." And with that, she was gone. Avila usually left the house around noon and only returned home in the evening, a little earlier than Fen.
I didn't feel lonely because I enjoyed the quiet before I had to cook dinner.
I slowly got up from the sofa and went into the kitchen, where I put the purchases into the fridge or cupboard.
The rest of the day would be a relaxing one because we didn't have any homework. And for relaxation, I couldn't think of anything better than taking a steamed bath. I went into the bathroom and opened the tap on the bathtub. Then I left the bathroom to grab a towel and fresh clothes out of the bedroom.
I went back into the bathroom and put things aside while checking the water temperature of the already accumulated water with my hand.
Hmm... it's just kind of lukewarm.
I turned the tap more towards the hot water, but I felt only a small temperature difference even after a minute. The water just didn't feel hot, but I could see water vapor rising.
Something is wrong here!?
It occurred to me that I had a thermometer lying in the kitchen. I hurried up and got it.
Hmm... let's see.
I put it in the water and started measuring. It began at 30°C, then jumped to 40°C, then to 50°C and then to 60°C. Last but not least, it stopped at 67°C.
67°C!? And it doesn't even feel warm to me.
I started thinking about the trigger because this wasn't usual. When I took a bath, the water always felt hot, but somehow not today.
Well, it doesn't help.
I took off the dirty clothes and threw them in the laundry basket. Fortunately, the clothes weren't covered in blood like after the battle against the lizard.
Completely bare, I stepped dissatisfied into the water that wasn't warm enough.
It's strange. It's been almost two weeks since I've become like this, but it feels like forever.
I looked at the body in front of me. I didn't feel anything, and everything looked as if I had already seen it a thousand times.
I leaned my head back against the headrest and closed my eyes.
=== ???
An environment built up in front of my eyes, and before I realized it, I was standing in the middle of a bright golden room. I was in the shadow of a pillar and watched a woman sitting on her throne.
She looked angry and irritated at the same time. This woman was no one else as Siana's mother, Tyrania.
"Mother! I beg you! You can't be serious!"
A young woman, no... a teenage girl, stormed through the hall to the throne. She looked strangely familiar to me. Too familiar for my liking.
"Silence!"
Mother… Tyrania's voice echoed across the room. She rose from her throne and walked down the steps to her daughter.
“Siana… I have no choice! My… No, your gift must remain yours!"
“But mother! I-"
"No buts."
Mother grabbed my head... Siana's head. A white light emanated from her hands, and before I knew it, Siana fell... my unconscious body to the floor.
"I'm sorry, Siana."
My body sank into a hole that formed under the unconscious body.
"Farewell, my daughter..."
With that said, I thought my dream, no... vision, would end, but it went on.
"Come over."
Mother held out her hand in my direction, and a force pulled me to her.
"You knew that I was watching!?"
"From the beginning."
She wiped the tears from her face.
“But even if I knew you were here, I don't know how much time has passed between the current Siana and you. I'm glad to see that you still have the ability."
"Tyra- mother, I've lost some of my memories..."
Perhaps lost was the wrong word, but I had nothing better in mind.
Mother reacted a little bit unique to what I said before reaching for my cheek.
“It may be that you have lost some of your memories by traveling to the other world, but I can see it in your eyes. You won more than you lost on the way over there. Your memories will come back, but what you got, you will never lose again."
She turned away from me.
"Your sister is coming. You should go!"
"Avila?"
Mother turned to me in surprise, then her eyes turned sad.
"It's not Avila, but Thily."
"Thily?"
“Hmm… you don't know her yet? That's good."
Before I could say anything, a force pushed me away and pulled me out of the vision.
=== In the bathroom
I widened my eyes.
"Ha... Ha... Haa..."
I was out of breath. Again I jumped through time, which was very resilient for me. I could see how I, Siana, was sent to earth, and I found out that I still have another sister... Thily.
My body was boiling, and I had to get out of the tub as quickly as possible.
My temperature sensation is completely normal again!? WTF!
My wet skin steamed because of the warm water, so I hurried to dry off and get dressed before I started to freeze.
