Deep in the empty and silent vacuum of space, an irregular phenomenon caused space to warp. Suddenly, a breach burst open in a blinding light, revealing Wally in a transparent sphere.
Beneath his mask, sweat dripped down his forehead, prompting him to quickly remove it.
"Damn, that was a bumpy ride," he muttered, visible discomfort on his face. The journey through the breach had been turbulent, and the sphere itself had nearly been ripped to shreds. If not for his timely intervention in expanding the Speed Force around the sphere, he might have met his doom.
"There's only so much an AI can do. I expected worse."
"Now, for what I came for," he muttered, putting his mask back on and glancing at the gigantic Dominator ship in the distance. Its size was truly unprecedented, showcasing how advanced the Dominators were, rivaling even the Kryptonians.
Piloting the sphere, he moved forward with unimaginable fear. The silence of space heightened his horror, but he constantly reminded himself of his mission, his expression hardening.
With the support of a unique tachyon engine, he steered towards the mothership undetected, a conclusion he had reached with Gideon's help. Seeing that the Dominators hadn't reacted, he proceeded with relief.
As he approached the ship's hull, his body began to vibrate, soon followed by the sphere. Phasing, the sphere passed through the alien ship without resistance.
Not long after, he found himself inside. The odd architecture caught his attention. He treaded carefully, but now that he had successfully infiltrated the Dominator mothership, a grin formed on his face before he quickly suppressed it.
He had infiltrated the ship, but he hadn't conquered it. He could only hope the Dominators hadn't come up with a way to counter metahumans so soon.
On further thought, his actions seemed more like a suicide mission. He had only gained his powers recently, and now he was tasked with massacring aliens.
Without a second thought, he shrugged it off—after all, what was life worth if there weren't risks?
Out of the sphere, he glanced around in a daze, unsure how to proceed when he suddenly heard distinct footsteps. Just around the corner, a lone Dominator, inspecting an anomaly, halted at the sight of the intruder. Though its species was unclear, instinctively, it knew it had to signal the alarm.
It turned to run toward a distant corner where the alarm could be sounded, but before it could take a second step, a vibrating hand pierced its chest.
The hand retracted, and the Dominator's body fell to the ground with a crisp thud.
"Alien blood. Slimy," he commented internally, glancing at the tip of his hand stained with blood. His gaze shifted to the alien's corpse, amusement in his eyes.
That amusement stemmed from the lack of guilt or remorse for the life he had just taken. All he felt was blankness, without a hint of pity in his eyes. It was the same feeling he had when he killed animals for food.
He didn't have time to explore his inner emotions, as a group of Dominators came rushing at the unexpected loss of a comrade's life signal.
Upon arrival, they were greeted by a gruesome sight—a lifeless comrade, breathless on the floor. Instinctively, they tried to communicate telepathically, but all they received was silence. That silence confirmed death.
"They communicate telepathically. I had forgotten," he thought, his expression unchanged.
"Kill him!" a voice rang in his head. He glanced nonchalantly at the four approaching aliens. Despite their lack of human facial expressions, he could discern the bloodlust in their eyes.
"The same hate you have for me, I have for you," he whispered internally, watching as they closed in while the commanding Dominator stood still and issued an alert.
Red lights flickered, and every Dominator was on alert. They rushed to their weapon stations, grabbing blasters as they headed toward the location of the signal.
Entering superspeed perception, Wally glanced at the sphere behind him—it was his only way home and needed safeguarding.
Returning his attention to the incoming aliens, now just a few meters away, he raised his hand, waving it in an arc. A stream of blue lightning shot out instantly, locking onto the four Dominators.
The bolt hit them, and their bodies fell limp, paralyzed by the simple display of power.
"So much power at my fingertips," he muttered, glancing at the result of his casual reaction. Just moving at superspeed generated enormous energy; controlling that energy without cost was even more powerful.
Deep down, he wanted to shout, "Behold the power of the Speed Force!" but he quickly suppressed his growing ego. "I should try not to get consumed by power."
Clearing his thoughts, he focused. Three clones suddenly appeared beside him, awaiting affirmation, though they already knew their tasks.
"Kill them. Kill them all. If you find any valuables, report them to me."
The clones quickly dispersed, each one tasked with reaping the lives of the invaders. At this moment, it seemed the Dominators were the ones being dominated.
"Send reinforcements. Prepare for a ship-wide lockdown. The invader must not reach critical systems." Across the ship, Dominators scrambled for their weapons, but as more life signals flickered out on the console, the commander sensed growing futility. The speedster was too fast, neutralizing soldiers before they could raise their weapons.
Through his connection with his clones, Wally quickly discovered the room housing the Dominators' escape pods. He had to ensure none escaped, safeguarding his secret for as long as possible. He stood at the entrance, swiftly and mercilessly dispatching any Dominator who attempted to escape.
The commander stood before the console, his long, bony fingers hovering over the controls. His cold, calculated mind struggled to process the rapid extermination of his crew. However, amidst the chaos, one truth remained—their assessment of metahumans had been correct. "They're a threat to the universe," he thought, knowing his journey had ended. His only goal now was to take the metahuman with him, no matter the cost.
His yellow eyes narrowed, fury brimming beneath a mask of calm. The speedster... How had he infiltrated the ship unnoticed?
"Initiate ship-wide lockdown—activate the self-destruct sequence," he ordered sharply.
The Dominators never surrendered. If their ship was compromised, they would rather destroy it than allow their enemies to claim anything.
But before the subordinates could intiate the code necessary for detonation their bodies fell limp, a blur of blue lightning shot across the room. In an instant, Wally appeared at the commander's side, placing a firm hand on the alien's head.
"You've caused enough damage," Wally said quietly, his voice calm but firm. "It's over."
The commander struggled, but Wally's grip was unbreakable. "You won't destroy this ship, and you're not taking anyone else with you. It ends here."
Blue lightning flickered around Wally's hand as he finished, "This will serve as a warning to your kind... Earth is off-limits."
In a flash of light, the commander's body went limp, dropping to the floor as energy surged through him. Wally stood in the silence of the now-disabled ship.
The once-vibrant alarms now served as a mere nuisance; there was no one left to respond. Every Dominator on board had been annihilated, none left alive, none able to escape.
Now that the immediate threats were gone, Wally turned to his side mission—gathering information on the Dominators and their technology.
During his assault, he had discovered gruesome experiments conducted on human specimens, all part of the Dominators' efforts to understand evolution.
Despite their advanced technology, they couldn't uncover the origin of the meta-gene. Their only conclusion was that Earth and its inhabitants needed to be eradicated.
The meta-gene defied the laws of the universe, and what couldn't be understood had to be uprooted. They had been piecing together a meta-bomb for this task, but their plans were thwarted early on.
"Looks like I need Gideon's assistance again," Wally thought with a sigh. He piloted the sphere to the area he estimated to be the information bank, finally managing to connect to the Dominator database, though with considerable effort.
