Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Blonde Hair
The sounds of braking and the opening and closing of car doors echoed through a desolate town, startling flocks of wild pigeons and jays. On the only main road, hunters armed with 9mm and .45 ACP submachine guns or compact 5.56 x 45mm rifles were cautiously advancing towards the town center, on alert for any potential threats that they could swiftly eliminate.
Samuel Young was walking towards the back of the group, his brow slightly furrowed as he tried to use his psionic abilities to pinpoint the exact location of two Descendants.
Psionics... Samuel found it difficult to describe the difference between before and after acquiring psionic abilities. If he had to compare, it felt like his childhood experiences of watching "Dragon Ball," where he would focus intensely and mimic the Kamehameha pose, always believing that with enough practice and effort, he could shoot out a blue wave of energy, always "believing" in himself. Psionics worked in a similar way. When he "wanted" and "believed," he could tap into his weak psionic energy.
Of course, he couldn't produce flashy, dazzling shockwaves or use elemental attacks like the classic psionic lightning. Currently, Samuel could at most use his psionics to detect and sense the emotions of living beings within a roughly one-kilometer radius centered on himself.
However, the ability to sense two Descendants more than twenty kilometers away suggested to Samuel that there might really be some kind of father-son connection between them. Regardless of the distance, he could always detect them.
But now, having entered this small town, which had been abandoned for over five years, the proximity made it difficult for him to pinpoint which building they were in.
"Boss," Arthur, walking in front, asked Samuel in confusion just as he was about to order the hunters to search the entire town in pairs, "What are we doing in this ghost town? Having a barbecue?"
"No, looking for children."
"Children... wait, children?!" Arthur was shocked by Samuel's nonchalant response. After all, since he was aware, he had often heard his father speak of their family's "epic" history, with 70% of it centered around how "great" Samuel was, portraying him as the savior of their family.
Initially, Arthur thought these stories were exaggerated, as figures like Jesus, God, and deities were just legends—who knew if they were real? But as time passed, Arthur noticed that Samuel's appearance never changed. Especially when Samuel, in front of a group of adolescent ARS cadets, slapped a rebellious teen trying drugs just to look "cool"...
It was a literal slap that sent the boy flying. From that moment, Arthur and all the cadets went through their rebellious phase without any major issues. The boy who tried drugs took a month to recover and never dared to challenge Samuel's authority or touch drugs again. This incident made Arthur fully believe in everything his father had said.
Although Samuel's act of slapping someone in public was terrifying, he would often take them shopping during holidays or fulfill their childhood dreams, even listening to their personal troubles. This made Arthur and the others see Samuel as more than just a boss to respect—they saw him as a senior figure.
But looking for children... Arthur was bewildered, unsure if their leader was serious or just joking.
Suddenly, the persistent and piercing cry of a baby caught the hunters' attention, making them all raise their guns towards the source of the sound—a two-story house with broken windows and a missing front door.
There really were children?? Arthur was stunned. Samuel, however, raised his left hand slightly, signaling for the house to be searched. The equally shocked hunters quickly adjusted, surrounding the house and sending three pairs inside to check.
Soon, faint shouts like "Check the corners...!" and "All clear...!" could be heard from inside, while the crying continued without pause. This made it easier for the three search teams to locate the exact source of the sound.
Arthur's radio reported, "The house is secure. The source of the sound is in an upstairs bedroom—two children, one of whom is... special."
After hearing the report and seeing Samuel approaching the house, Arthur picked up his radio and ordered, "Maintain vigilance. The boss and I are on our way."
Following Samuel, Arthur entered the house, through the dusty furniture and cracked walls, up the stairs, and finally into the master bedroom, where two hunters stood guard, ready to fire at a moment's notice, and staring tensely at two children lying on a tattered bed.
The reason for the hunters' heightened alertness was the sight of a small boy with a pair of white wings on his back.
Samuel stood at the door, momentarily stunned. The closer he got to the bedroom, the more anxious he felt, fearing that his suspicion was correct. The so-called Descendants were indeed genetically-engineered Primarchs, just like those from "Warhammer 30k/40k," created by the Emperor of Mankind using genetic engineering, his DNA, and some "special materials"—superhuman descendants known as Primarchs.
These descendants were superhuman in every aspect, and once fully grown, they would stand over three meters tall, with unimaginable strength, speed beyond the reach of the naked eye or conventional instruments, and mastery of their respective fields.
However, the focus was not on which Primarchs they were, but rather why the Descendants turned out to be Primarchs! The golden light emitted during the opening of the space and the absorption of Omega's blood, along with the seemingly established psionic link with these Primarchs...
Had he really become a "father" in such a bizarre manner? Could it be that he was...?!
