Chapter 26: Beginning of the Raid (2)
While the recruits in the army were puzzled even after pondering over it a hundred times, Fury said, “This is Corporal Kyle. He’s one of the commanding officers for tonight’s raid. You have to obey every word of his, understood?”
“Yes, Sir!” The soldiers responded in unison. Even if they were given a hundred times the courage they had right now, they would never dare to say ‘no.’
“Kyle… A Corporal?” George was stunned when he first saw Kyle. However, when he heard his rank, he couldn’t help but bow his head in shame, fearing that he would recognize him.
“I was wrong. It turns out, monsters display a monstrous performance no matter where they are.” The recruit who was talking to George just a few moments ago felt like he was slapped in the face and muttered to himself.
“Isn’t it almost time to leave?” Kyle asked Fury. It took him a long time to get a hold of all those new skill cards, and he barely made it on time.
“Yes, it’s time to start.” Fury looked at the time shown by the apparatus in his hand and waved his hand at the hundred men. “All soldiers, obey the orders! Keep up with the military vehicle and jog to the mission site!”
As soon as Fury finished speaking, he and Kyle got into the idle military vehicle parked in the open space nearby and quickly took the lead and started down the road to wilderness.
Raid Mission. Instead of directly crossing into the defense line of the enemy, they made a detour and headed straight towards the mountains and wilderness to avoid detection by the enemy.
Unless you had the exact location of the German camp, using such a detour was a silly idea; however, since they knew the details, they could easily penetrate deep into the enemy camp.
“Once we cross this hill, we’ll be very close to the small transit camp. All soldiers, be alert and look out for hostile forces. Do not startle the enemy! Just be quiet and wait for further instructions.”
Suddenly, Fury, who was standing next to Kyle frowned and said, “Kyle, I feel like something’s amiss.”
“Hmm? “Kyle looked at him in surprise.
“Do you think the information we gathered is false?” Kyle frowned too.
“It’s hard to tell. Take a closer look. Even if it’s fake, we can still withdraw from this position without any damage.” After Fury’s analysis, the two men lead their soldiers over the hill.
… … …
Over the mountains.
At the front of the line, Kyle and Fury pushed away the bushes blocking their view, and the scene they witnessed in their direct line of vision made them freeze in their spots.
Unexpectedly, at the end of the mountain slope, an iron fence enclosed about 100 meters of wilderness in a circle. At every ten meters, there was a fortress that acted as an outer wall. The area was well lit, and a large number of German soldiers could be seen patrolling the place.
“Oh my God, this is what they call a small transit camp?” Fury’s mouth dropped open in utter horror.
