Chapter 15 - Killing the Enemy (1)
Chapter 15: Killing the Enemy (1)
1943, World War II.
The war headed by Adolf Hitler, führer of the German State and a symbolic leader of the Nazi Army of whom invaded Europe on a large scale.
As a recruit, the higher ups sent him directly to the Marine Corps 102 Regiment Xixth Division camped on the front lines.
In the afternoon, the military transport aeroplane arrived to pick up the soldiers on the training base and brought them over to the Ministry of Operation’s temporary camp around nine in the evening. Seeing the current conditions, he understood why he was dispatched here in a flurried manner.
Looking down from the aeroplane, silhouettes of warm and dusk lights lit the camp. Tents and military supplied were arranged in a mess as the officers and enlisted soldiers moved around like ants on a hot kettle pot.
“Kill those madmen pressing desperately forward! Ask for support! They need more ammunition!”
“Help! Get me the combat medic!”
“How about squadron one? Have they come back yet?!”
The commander bellowed a hoarse battle cry while tending to the wounded. He gave continuous orders while injured men were constantly carried into the tent by the medical stretchers. One by one, bloody looking soldiers carried new ammunition equipments from the rear. It sat still on the muddy military vehicle before driving off into the darkness.
While the U.S military was known for its strict discipline, it looked a terrible mess at this moment.
“You! Are you the reinforcement?” A sweaty bearded officer approached and grabbed Kyle who’d just made his arrival from the military aeroplane.
“Yes, Soldier Kyle reporting!” Kyle responded quickly.
“Just a recruit? No need to report. There’s not enough people. Go and take a weapon and head straight to the battlefield!” The bearded officer said in a hurry. He took Kyle’s belongings and threw it to the side before leaving.
It’s true. Statistically speaking, newly minted soldiers with little to no combat experience who are ordered to head to the battlefield for the first time hardly ever return!
“I see, so that’s how it is,” Kyle breathed deeply and put the combat uniform and kevlar helmet on. Holding an American made rifle, he jumped into the back of a military vehicle carrying ammunition supplies.
Then, the engine turned on and the driver stepped foot on the gas and rushed toward the battlefield with their ammunition support. The two front lights of the vehicle paved the way against the eerie darkness.
Kyle gripped his rifle, the sounds of bombing growing clearer and clearer as they neared the battlefield. His heartbeat and adrenaline rose to the beat of the bombs.
“I don’t seem to be afraid… only vaguely excited.” Kyle muttered to himself as he pumped out his skill cards that he’d need to live through another day.
Okay, just focus.
He looked around, eyes falling on the goods in the back of the vehicle. His eyes flashed and soon, series of cards appeared on the surface of the box.
【Emergency Medical Toolkit】
【Military Canned Supplies】
【Ammunition Grenades】
【American Made Rifle】
【Medium Caliber Rifle Cartridges】
They were all white cards with few green cards mixed in between such as 【Explosive Grenades】, 【High Powered Sniper】, and the 【Short Range Rocket Launcher】.
The item cards were not in the same state as those in the training base. The ones here were in their extractable state.
“So it’s like that.” Kyle’s eyes lit up. “I can’t extract personal belongings, but I can extract the ones here as they are without an owner. So it goes to say that they’ll become my extracted goods.”
Kyle immediate extracted the supplies as his own, converting the supplies as his own card item. Besides, these items are used for rushing into the front lines. No one will pay attention to them.
He thought the extraction of the green item cards would take more than three minutes to extract, he didn’t expect it’d take only a mere three seconds.
“There’s five rocket launchers… I’ll take two.”
Enemy fire!
