Chapter 185: Yasuo, a wind-style swordsman again
They turned their heads towards the source of the sound, expressions of shock etched on their faces. How could someone dare to provoke them in the midst of the tense atmosphere? And not just anyone, but the two notorious seven swordmen of the mist, Jinpachi and Kobanza?
Who didn't know that Jinpachi Munashi and Kobanza were a brutal and merciless duo among the seven swordsmen of the mist? They had no qualms about killing their own comrades, and anyone who crossed them met a horrible fate.
Jinpachi sneered wickedly as he looked in the direction of the voice. "Who said that? Come out and show yourself!"
The crowd instinctively parted, afraid of getting involved in the trouble. Their astonishment only grew as they saw who emerged slowly from the gap. It was a young girl? They had heard her voice earlier, but they had not expected her to be young.
The girl had green eyes and ankle-length auburn hair styled into a herringbone pattern at the back. She glared at Jinpachi Munashi and said through clenched teeth, "You are acting without Mizukage-sama’s orders!"
Jinpachi moved like a blur, charging at the girl with his sword drawn, swinging it down with deadly intent.
She gasped, feeling helpless. Though she was skilled for her age, she was no match for him.
“Stop, Jinpachi!”
sword halted just inches from her forehead, causing her to break out in a cold sweat. The onlookers felt nervous for her, but none dared to intervene.
Jinpachi turned his head curiously, questioning, "Oh? Kobanza, are you trying to stop me?"
"No, I just don’t want you to get into trouble," Kobanza replied calmly.
"Trouble?" Jinpachi echoed, intrigued.
Kobanza shrugged, explaining, "Look at her hair and eyes. Don’t you notice anything? I know you don’t fear any clan, but killing her would still cause problems, wouldn’t it?"
Jinpachi glanced at the girl before him, his realization dawning slowly. He then sheathed his sword with a sneer. "I see. If I’m not mistaken, your name is Mei Terumī, right?"
"That’s right!" Mei Terumī said, feeling a wave of relief wash over her.
Jinpachi suddenly lunged forward, catching Terumi off guard. She crossed her arms in a desperate attempt to block his attack.
With a swift kick, he sent her flying, and Terumi rolled on the ground twice before managing to get back up. Using her chakra, she gripped the ground to slide before stabilizing herself.
Jinpachi's cruel smile was unsettling as he spoke, "I’ll let you go this time, but don’t expect anyone to save you next time. How dare a little girl like you talk back to me?"
With that, the three swordsmen of the mist walked away, followed by the rest of the ninjas. Some cast sympathetic glances towards Terumi, but none dared to speak up for her. She endured the pain in her arm, frowning as she watched them leave.
A middle-aged ninja's voice broke the silence from behind her. "Hey, don’t you know what kind of ninja they are? How could you be so reckless?"
Terumi turned to see the man who spoke. Calmly, she responded, "I know. I just said what I thought was right."
The middle-aged ninja looked at her with surprise. "Heh, interesting. Your name is Mei Terumī, right? I remember you."
Without waiting for a response, he left with the rest of the troops.
“Hey! You…” Terumi called out. "My name is Raiga Kurosuki. I’m a low-profile person, so it’s normal that you don’t know me. I’ll talk to you later," he said without turning.
Terumi watched him walk away, noticing the swords wrapped in bandages on his back. Raiga Kurosuki? Could he be the wielder of Kiba, the twin swords?
With a helpless sigh, Terumi muttered to herself, "Does the Hidden Mist Village have a future?"
------------
Fugaku flew over, observing the drama unfolding at the Hidden Mist Camp in the Land of Whirlpools.
"Ugh, is this all the Mist Village has to offer? How boring," he muttered to himself in disappointment.
Despite scanning the enemy camp, he found nothing of interest and sighed, turning back towards the Konoha camp. With dusk approaching, he knew he had to hurry.
Having spent the last two days on his journey since his arrival, Fugaku hadn't even visited the Konoha camp, instead focusing on spying on the enemy. It was a testament to his diligence as a leader.
Though Shikaku had advised against using his signature ability, he figured he would be fine if no one noticed him.
Upon landing near the Konoha camp, Fugaku walked towards it, taking note of the terrain along the way.
Disguised as Yasuo, a wind-style swordsman, he wore a katana and a samurai uniform.
As he pondered how he would command the ninjas in this unfamiliar environment, he couldn't help but wonder if they would obey him. Unlike his own clan members, here he had to lead thousands. However, he had no choice but to take charge, being the fastest and most capable.
It was easier when he had his clanman. Here, he had thousands. He had no choice, though. He was the fastest one, and he had to take charge.
Despite feeling a bit awkward about the praise he had received from the Hokage, who had called him hardworking and the pride of Konoha, Fugaku pushed such thoughts aside.
He was snapped out of his reverie when he sensed danger and swiftly moved to the side, narrowly avoiding two kunai that landed where he had been standing.
"Who's there?" he shouted, ready to defend himself.
"Wow, a samurai who can dodge my attacks? That’s impressive!" A voice exclaimed as a figure emerged from the woods.
Fugaku narrowed his eyes at the person. "A ninja from the Hidden Mist?"
As he spoke, three more ninjas materialized, hiding in the forest, camouflaged by branches and leaves.
Fugaku hadn't noticed them; he had flown at a high altitude when he approached the Hidden Mist base to avoid detection, and he hadn't spotted anyone in this forest.
Though it wasn't far from the Konoha camp, it lay just outside the Konoha alert zone. The presence of these ninjas at this time was suspicious.
Glancing at the sky, Fugaku had a sudden realization. Evening was setting in, with sunlight still lingering. They were waiting for nightfall to launch a surprise attack.
A smirk played across his lips as he thought, You picked the wrong person to mess with.
"A samurai? You’re lucky you dodged my attack. But you’re still going to die. That’s something to be proud of, right?" Mist Ninja taunted confidently.
