I Am Fugaku Uchiha

Chapter 140: The Mysterious Peacock Method

Fugaku found himself in the quaint village of the Star Ninjas, a place he had never heard of until now.

Accustomed to the grandeur of the major ninja villages, he couldn't fathom how a settlement with less than a hundred residents could boast a leader worthy of the title "kage." The discrepancy puzzled him, igniting a curiosity that refused to be extinguished.

As he strolled through the village, Fugaku couldn't shake the memory of a distant country with a boastful leader who claimed dominion over Asia, flaunting a purported 6,000-year history. The arrogance of such assertions brought a wry smile to his face, for it reminded him of the audacious, pretentious prick he had encountered before.

"What’s your name?” Fugaku asked, his eyes narrowing with curiosity.

“Arata,” the young man replied truthfully. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his intentions, Arata, seemingly not much older than Fugaku, knew better than to provoke the formidable shinobi. Instead, he opted for politeness.

“Arata?” Fugaku repeated, shaking his head in disbelief. The name seemed to resonate with an isolation that intrigued him. He couldn't help but wonder how unfamiliar this country was with techniques like Wood style.

The Star Ninja Village, in stark contrast to the grandeur of Konoha Village, presented itself as a modest collection of small houses. Villagers casually went about their chores, with clothes hanging outside, blissfully unaware of the unexpected guest in their midst. Besides the elderly and children, only a dozen adult ninjas populated the village.

As Fugaku stood in the center of the village, he found himself surrounded by five individuals, their expressions a mix of startlement and wariness.

“Who are you? We didn’t hire any outsiders. Are you here uninvited?” A middle-aged Shinobi demanded, his frown deepening.

Fugaku, unimpressed, simply shrugged. “You could say that.”

The Hokage’s edict had served only as a passport to cross borders, preventing diplomatic conflicts. Once within the Star Ninja Village, he was on his own.

“What do you want?” the star Shinobi asked suspiciously, his eyes narrowing.

Fugaku, maintaining a calm expression, responded nonchalantly, "Nothing much, just curious about your peacock method. I saw it earlier, and it looked interesting."

His words hung in the air, giving off an air of authority, as if he were a boss checking on his employees’ work. However, the star ninjas were not his underlings, and Fugaku's seemingly casual demeanor only stoked their anger.

"How dare you try to steal our star village? Peacock technique!"

They declared collectively, channeling chakra into wings. Yet, their efforts proved futile against Fugaku, who effortlessly employed a space technique to flash behind one of the star ninjas.

The teleportation technique is typically reserved as a trump card. Undeterred, he suggested a more peaceful resolution: "Why don’t we sit down, have some tea, eat something, and chat? Why do you have to use violent means?"

In response, the leader of the attack leaped forward, deploying angel wings to attack Fugaku's defeated kunai. The chakra materialization demonstrated by the star Shinobi intrigued Fugaku, who found himself momentarily surprised.

“Get him…” The star Shinobi yelled, unleashing a justu attack:

“Peacock Method: Beast.” Chakra wings transformed into the shape of a beast, dense with energy for attack. Fugaku, unfazed, smirked and threw a chakra-enhanced punch, colliding with the beast's head.

A resounding bang echoed, and the star ninja, using the Peacock Method: The beast was sent flying, his chakra dissipating as blood dripped from his mouth. The drawback of the Peacock Method became apparent: if the materialized chakra faced a formidable attack, it would affect the user.

Amidst the stunned silence of the remaining star ninjas, Fugaku looked at them with a polite smile. "Call your village leader. I don’t want to kill anyone."

The event unfolding before them left the star ninjas momentarily paralyzed, questioning the reality of the situation.

Fugaku's nonchalant demeanor and seemingly effortless prowess had disrupted their expectations, leaving them in a state of disbelief and uncertainty.

“Why…?? What…” The star Shinobi couldn't finish his question and was interrupted as vines sprouted from the ground, swiftly wrapping around him. Caught off guard, the other star ninjas found themselves bound by the same vines.

Arata, witnessing this unexpected turn of events, was visibly shocked. He knew the feeling of being ensnared by a technique, but now even his comrades were immobilized. Did this guy not need hand seals?

Wood-style Fugaku displayed proficiency in using it on a small scale, bypassing the need for hand seals. The incident with the box of bliss had been an impulsive reaction, catching him off guard.

However, Fugaku's wood style proved ineffective against nimble ninjas with strong taijutsu skills who could dodge the vines as soon as they emerged. But these star ninjas...

With only their peacock technique and lackluster physical skills, the star ninjas were at a disadvantage. Fugaku effortlessly maintained control, while those who managed to escape the vines formed a defensive circle.

Amidst the unfolding confrontation, an elderly man, appearing to be in his seventies or eighties, emerged slowly, flanked by two middle-aged ninjas. Lord Hoshikage, as he was addressed, frowned upon seeing the situation in the village.

“What are you doing here in my Star Ninja Village?” The old man asked with authority, sensing that the intruder was not inherently hostile.

“Lord Hoshikage, he wants to steal our ninjutsu; we must capture him."

“Yes, yes!!”

“I’m sure the ninja villages are after our ninjutsu.”

Fugaku shook his head in exasperation. "You are really ignorant and arrogant. You overestimate your village’s ninjutsu. The five major countries don’t care about it, let alone places like Rain Ninja Village and Grass Ninja Village.”

“How dare you? What did you say?"

“Then why are you here?” The Hoshikage asked, confused. His two aides had briefed him on the intruder's intentions, and Fugaku's words hinted at a challenge. Did he come to cause trouble because countries didn’t care about their ninjutsu?

Fugaku smiled faintly. “Others may not care, but I do!”
