How to Love a Night Fury how to train your dragon

Chapter 61: chapter 6

I stared ahead of Kala and I as we fled the ship. We were a good distance away by now as Kala glided over a bed of clouds that glowed in the low Arctic sun. I growled and screeched in frustration, then slumped back on the saddle.

Kala looked at me with worry in her eyes. " Hiccup.. " She whined.

I sighed and rubbed her side without looking. "Don't worry, milady. I'm not gonna let anything happen to us. I promise."

The clouds surrounding us then tore from something. I growled in annoyance, assuming that it was my father.

"AW, COME ON, DAD! REALLY?!" I yelled as I looked at where I assumed he was at, but my eyes widened as I realized it wasn't him but a mysterious figure that wore a mask. "Okay, no sudden moves." I whispered to my mate as I slowly sat up, gripping the handles on the saddle.

The figure then rose up, revealing that they were riding atop a Stormcutter. Well. More like standing atop the Stormcutter.

I pulled on the handles, having Kala stop before we could collide with the Stormcutter. She whimpered a bit as her earplates flattened upon her head as we flew in place, just looking at the figure and Stormcutter in front of us.

"Uh.." I breathed out, not really knowing what to say to the person.

Before I could ask anything though, I was snatched off Kala's back by another dragon and screeched out of surprise. Kala screeched out of surprise as well, her left tailfin closing on instinct as I was yanked off her back resulting in her plummeting from midair from shock.

"Kala!" I yelled worriedly as she fell through the ice below us.

I struggled against the hold of the dragon that had me as it took me away from where my mate fell. I growled in frustration and looked at the masked figure.

"HEY! YOU LEFT MY DRAGON BACK THERE YOU JERK!" I growled out at the person, very upset at being taken away from my mate in such a way.

I continued to struggle against the hold of the dragon carrying me as the masked figure led the dragons following them and the Stormcutter to who knows where. I stopped struggling for just a moment when I took notice of a giant ice structure that seemed to be where we were headed, but then I immediately went back to struggling with a growl.

"We have to go back for my dragon!" I growled out right before I was dropped onto an icy floor and groaned from the impact.

As I stood up, dragons surrounded me. I thought about transforming to show them I was one of their own, but immediately decided against it since they could tell by my scent. Not to mention I didn't really want this mysterious person to know I was a Night Fury.

So instead, I unsheathed my Inferno and waved it about to show the person that I could make the dragons see I was one of them. I then turned around in place as I released some of the Zippleback gas, then I ignited it. After that I sheathed my sword and went up to one of the dragons with my hand reached outward to them, but I recoiled as the mysterious person tried to get close to me.

I glared a bit at the person as I backed away from them. "Who are you? The Dragon Thief? Drago Bludvist? Do you even understand what I'm saying?" I questioned.

Before I could say another word, the person shook their staff and some more dragons came into the room, with Kala following right behind them.

" Hiccup! " She purred out in glee as she landed and nuzzled me happily.

"Kala!" I exclaimed just as happy as her as I nuzzled her back, struggling to hold in my own purrs as I did so. "I'm so glad you're okay. You really had me worried there." I said as I scratched her head.

" Sorry my love. Was just muscle memory and shock. " Kala explained through her joyous purrs.

The mysterious person then used their staff to order the dragons surrounding us to light up the room. They then approached Kala and I, trying to reach out to my mate, but I stepped in front of her and glared at the person.

"Don't you dare touch her." I growled out, which got them to back away.

They then tilted their head as they looked me over then they tilted it further as though something dawned on them.

"Hiccup?" The person, who we now knew was a woman by the sound of her voice, asked as she removed her helmet.

My eyes widened when I heard her say my name, and when I looked at my mate I saw her eyes had widened as well.

She looked to be middle-aged. Her long auburn hair was pulled back in a braid that was tucked away into the armor she wore. Now that I could tell she was a woman, her body stood out as such even though the armor most likely was meant to hide that fact.

Just how exactly did this woman know who I was?

"Could it be? After all these years? How is this possible?" She asked, looking at me with shock, as though she had seen a ghost.

"Uh, should I…should I know you?" I asked, rather confused now.

The woman looked down with a sad smile. "No. You were only a babe…" She then looked up as her eyes became glassy. "But a mother never forgets."

Kala and I froze in place once she said that. This woman was claiming to be my mother? That was such an absurd claim to make. Especially since this was the first time I had ever met the woman.

"Come…" The woman said as she ushered Kala and I then ran off.

Kala and I exchanged glances before we dashed after her with our minds racing.
