How to Love a Night Fury how to train your dragon

Chapter 59: chapter 4

Back at the Isle of Berk, the other riders race about the island as the village was going back to their day to day lives after winding down from the Dragon Race earlier that day.

"Come on, Meatlug! Woohoo!" Fishlegs encouraged the female Gronckle excitedly.

The twins then zipped past the Gronckle and Ingerman with smirks, flying past Gothi's hut at top speed, which scared off her small flock of Terrible Terrors.

When the Terrors landed again, the twins being the pranksters they are, sped past yet again which sent the Terrors scattering. Gothi grunted in anger and shook her fist at the twins as they passed her by.

"Ha-ha!" Ruffnut laughed in glee.

"Loki'd!" Tuffnut exclaimed.

Down below in the village, Stoick made polite conversation with villagers as he walked towards the forge.

"Hey, how are you? Beautiful day." Stoick said cheerily to a couple of Vikings.

The chief smiled as he walked past Spitelout. "Hello, Spitelout, great game today."

The elder Jorgenson glared at Stoick, then went about his day. Stoick smirked the slightest bit, but stopped in his tracks when he noticed he was about to bump into another villager.

"Oh, sorry, Mrs. Ack." He apologized, then side-stepped out of her way then continued on to the forge.

Within the forge, Gobber was busying himself with dentist work on a Zippleback.

"Any sign of them?" Stoick asked as he approached his friend.

Gobber looked up from his work as he finished up with placing the new tooth in the Zippleback's mouth. "Ah, they've probably flown off the edge of the world by now. You sure you want to retire, Stoick? It'll take ya time to find another heir."

"Aye, I'll need to push it back." Stoick agreed, then his attention was taken away as he and Gobber took notice of Hiccup landed just outside the forge. "Haha! There they are! The pride of Berk themselves!"

"Who finally decided to show up for work. Yay." Gobber said as Hiccup dismounted Kala's back just before she transformed.

"Sorry. Got held up." Kala apologized as she and Hiccup made their way into the forge.

"Hey, Dad, could we have a word?" Hiccup asked rather urgently.

"Sure, but we best help Gobber out while we do. That line won't shrink down on its own." Stoick chuckled, then made his way to the order number list. "Forty-one?"

Hiccup and Kala followed behind with concerned looks on their faces.

"Stoick this is pretty important. Could we just talk as a family in private?" Kala asked just as urgently as Hiccup.

Stoick looked at the two young Night Furies and sighed. "Oh, alri–" He began to say, but was cut off by a Viking.

"That's me! That's me! I'm next!" He exclaimed as he made his way to the front of the line. "I was ahead of you!" He said to another Viking he pushed past.

"Dad, please. Let's just–" Hiccup tried, but the Viking cut him off as well.

"Excuse me, I've been here all day! Okay, I want one of those high seaters, with lots of spikes and a big stowage compartment."

Kala sighed mentally then smiled at the Viking. "You got it." She then began to go about the forge to gather the materials, signaling at Hiccup and Stoick to go talk somewhere private.

Hiccup and Stoick nodded at her, then made their way through the forge to get to the back area for their conversation.

"Oh, excuse us, Grump." Stoick said politely to the sleeping Hotburple that was sprawled over the forge floor as he and Hiccup went past him.

Gobber groaned when he took notice of the cold forge. "Grump! Yet let the forge die down again!"

Grump woke up and lazily lit the forge on fire. Hiccup and Kala let out screeches when they saw the flames and Gobber groaned yet again as he poured water onto the fire.

"That's it, Grump. You're going up for adoption!"

Once they were out of sight of the Vikings outside of the forge, Stoick turned his full attention to his son.

"Alright, what's got you and the lass so worked up son?" He asked, a worried look upon his face.

"Okay, so we may or may not have come across a new land." Hiccup began, which got the attention of the other riders, who crowded around the back window, and Gobber.

" Another one?!" Gobber asked, shocked.

"Any new dragons?" Fishlegs asked excitedly as he leaned through the window a bit.

"We didn't stick around to find out. These folks weren't particularly friendly." Hiccup replied with his arms crossed.

"Oh, really? Your Night Fury didn't bring them cheering to the rooftops?" Gobber asked sarcastically.

"No, this was different. Not the standard run-for-the-hills hoo-ha we've come to enjoy. These guys were trappers. Dragon trappers." Hiccup said, the concern in his voice making itself known.

"You should've seen their fort." Kala brought up as she stitched together the saddle. "All blown apart and stuck in giant spikes of ice. It was weird ."

"I've never seen anything like it." Hiccup agreed, then before he could continue, Snotlout leaned into the forge with an upset expression.

"Uh, hello?! Forgetting who was there with you two by any chance?"

"Oh, no we know Hookfang was there." Kala joked as she focused on the stitching.

Snotlout glared at her as the twins busted out laughing and rolling on the ground right outside the window.

"Hey!"

"Anyways!" Hiccup said to get the focus back on the conversation. "The worst part is, they thought we did it!"

"Y'know, you two are gonna get yourselves in SERIOUS trouble one of these days." Gobber stated as he pointed at Hiccup and Kala. "Not everyone appreciates this way of life."

"Gobber's right, son. Best we keep to our own. Besides, you'll have more important uses for your time." Stoick said, winking at Hiccup in a hinting way.

Hiccup blushed a bit, then shook his head to refocus. "They're building a dragon army, Dad. Or-or at least the guy they work for is. Ah, 'Dargo Bloody Fist' or something."

"It was Drago Bludvist, my love." Kala corrected.

"Yeah, that. Thanks milady."

"Mhm.~" Kala hummed as she began to add the finishing touches to the saddle.

Stoick's expression grew serious when he heard the name. He and Gobber exchanged glances of concern, but also anger.

"I'll bloody his fist with my face if he tries to take my dragon!" Tuffnut said angrily.

"Or mine!" Ruffnut added just as angry.

Tuffnut looked at his twin with a deadpan look. "You're such a moron."

"A beautiful moron." Fishlegs sighed out dreamily.

"Yeah…" Snotlout said with the same dreamy air about him.

Ruffnut groaned in disgust as Nanna whacked Snotlout in the back of the head with a glare.

"Ow!" The Jorgenson yelped as he rubbed his head then glared at her. "What was–wait. Why are you still here? I thought you were gonna head back to Berserker Island after the race to be with your wife?"

"I was, but I have a feeling that a certain duo is gonna get into more trouble soon. I wrote a letter already and sent it off to Heather so that she knows I'll be home later than expected, no biggie." Nanna answered with a shrug.

"If you say so."

Stoick then left the forge and Hiccup and Kala exchanged glances before rushing after the chief.
