How to Love a Night Fury how to train your dragon

Chapter 33: Dragon Eye of the Beholder (Part 2)

This is Berk. A lot of it has changed since the war we had with the Berserkers. We've added more to the island, like more housing and feeding areas for dragons. We're even in the process of building a hanger for the dragons to rest in.

A lot has changed with our lives, too. Snotlout now works in the armory as the official weapons tester. The twins have devoted their lives to the Viking God of Pranks, Loki. Fishlegs found his calling in teaching the children about the history of dragons.

Then there's the changes with Hiccup and I. We're still doing the best we can to keep the peace. It can be difficult at times, but we push through.

As Hiccup and I neared the Great Hall, I could hear Fishlegs teaching a small group of kids.

"And if you look closely at the walls of the Great Hall, you'll still see puncture marks where the Speed Stingers attacked. Interesting fact about these dragons…" He started, but cut himself off as he spotted Hiccup and I.

I smiled at him with my signature gummy smile as Hiccup adjusted my tailfin so we could land.

"Oh! Oh, look, kids! We're in luck. Here come two of Berk's most famous heroes." Fishlegs said happily.

As we got closer to the ground, I spotted Stoick and Gobber walking towards the group. Stoick must have thought Fishlegs meant them as he laughed a bit.

"Ho ho! Heroes? I've got some Chiefing to do, but I guess I could spare a moment…" The chief started, but got cut off by Fishlegs.

"Hiccup and Kala!" He said enthusiastically as he gestured towards us as I landed lightly next to Stoick.

Stoick looked over at Hiccup and I as the kids cheered.

"...eh, to introduce the bringers of peace." Stoick finished with a nervous laugh. "Hooray."

I gave him an odd look as Hiccup dismounted from my back, then shook my head before transforming into my human form.

One major thing that changed about the two of us was our attire. Instead of the small changes that our friends made with their clothes, Hiccup and I decided to change everything.

Hiccup's clothes consisted of a red long sleeved tunic under a leather chestplate with shoulder pads, brown wrappings around his forearms for some extra protection, brown pants, and his usual fur boot with his metal prosthetic.

My attire was similar to his, just like it always has been. It consisted of a dark gray long sleeved tunic under a leather chestplate with shoulder pads like Hiccup's, light gray wrappings around my forearms, black pants, my usual fur boots, and my signature cloak made out of my scales and some wolf pelts.

One very noticeable detail about our shoulder pads, though, was the Night Fury design on our right shoulders. Although mine was usually hidden by my cloak.

The kids that Fishlegs was teaching rushed over to Hiccup and I, bombarding us with questions. I laughed a bit as I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, answering what I could for the little ones.

Hiccup smiled and took the opportunity to escape from the kids to talk with the chief.

"Is there anything you need Kala and I to do before we head out, chief?" He asked politely.

Even though it's been three years since the Green Death battle, Hiccup still hasn't forgiven the chief for what he has done. That amount of pain cannot be forgiven so easily.

Stoick thought for a bit, then shook his head.

"I think I've got it covered for now. You go on ahead and get goin'. That book won't fill itself, now will it?"

Hiccup smiled with a nod, then came back over to the kids and I. I made eye contact with him and nodded.

"Alright little ones. Go on." I said as I shooed the children away so I could transform again.

They all giggled and scurried off to go do who knows what. I shook my head with a smile and transformed back into my dragon form. Hiccup got on and secured himself, then we took to the air once again.
