Ch-73: The God Heretic To It’s Myth
"<Dragon Subdui—"
"P, please wait, sir! Please wait."
Solomon grasped Roy's fist, the hand blocking his fist was strong, the solemn king spoke out.
However, inconsistent with his serious appearance was his voice, very relaxed and slightly frivolous. It is totally inconsistent with his majestic kingly temperament.
"Sup, what last words you have to say, King Solomon?"
Roy sneered defiantly.
"En. If your Excellency could let me say my last words first, then I would be really grateful."
Roy was baffled, were his ears playing tricks on him?
Although the King Solomon's appearance is very imposing when speaking, the tone of his words is totally incompatible with his imperial demeanor.
This conflicting situation coupled with King Solomon's request made him feel skeptical.
Is this King Solomon using his 'wisdom' to show his openings and request to lessen his vigilance? Then find the opportunity to attack when he least expects it?
Or did he owned similar trash talking mind damaging skills like him? But, if so, his 'Eye the Beyond' would have already notified him.
Or maybe he is not familiar with this new world, so he wants to take advantage of words to stall for time, to become familiar with this new body?
It's not that Roy is too cautious. Or it's the distrust of a Godslayer towards another Heretic Gods. It's just that Solomon is most known for his "wisdom" in myths, stories, legends, folklores, epics, etc.
Wisdom includes all— experience, knowledge, and good judgement, and so also cunningness which indirectly comes with experience; making it hard for a wise man to believe in the word's of another wise man.
Like they say, intelligent men tend to think too much, binding themselves in the webs of countless possibilities; heedlessly searching for the gap between true and false.
For example, Napoleon suddenly said that he would surrender to you. However, the people who know Napoleon will definitely not be overjoyed with the victory, but instead, would scrunch up in doubt and suspicion.
Does such a devil-like man has any hidden tactics behind this move?
Roy found himself in a similar state.
"And I will trust you..?"
King Solomon in front of him suddenly looked distressed, his majestic face showing quite aggrieved emotions. However, suddenly his eyes lit up in joy.
"I-I know, I know, haha. Gosh, why didn't I think of it before. Ok, in order to show my sincerity, I will give up the resistance. But I hope you can also listen to me and let me finish my words."
King Solomon slowly released the hand that grasped Roy's fist, even recalling his own released mana back into his body.
Seeing this, Roy hesitated for a second and he also took a step back to leave him with enough reaction time if the situation arises. At the same time, he carefully scrutinized at the king in front of him.
When King Solomon was summoned just before, Roy just briefly glanced at his clothes and face.
All said and done, in the end, he is a Godslayer, and King Solomon is a Heretic God, so they must fight, simple logic. This is not a matter of instinct. The fight is inevitable, after all he aimed to usurp Solomon's power. Only now did Roy carefully examined the King Solomon from top to bottom.
However, his findings made his eyes glister in surprise. Because he recognised the Solomon King standing before him.
'He Who Hath Mastered All At Birth. (Ars Almadel Salomonis)'
'He Who Hath Started All At His Crowning. (Ars Paulina)'
'And...'
'He Who Lets Go Of The World At His Time of Parting. (Ars Nova)'
The memory of sixteen years ago, replayed in his mind. It was the King Solomon of a certain game he once tried.
Roy never had the arrogance of the so-called "real world", even he, himself doubts what the so-called real world he was in is like, why these endless worlds are presented in a 2nd dimensional form? Are these worlds a illusion of human thinking or something more?
But after experiencing two worlds, in his cognition, he knows that none of this was false, and that these people are not imaginary anime characters or some simple imagination of someone's mind.
They are flesh and blood, with their own thoughts and emotions.
'If it's the Solomon I know. He can be trusted... maybe...'
Roy was still a little bit hesitant about his decision.
Everything he saw in the 'real world' cannot be taken for granted, so, he must be vigilant. He can't rely on the so-called memory and cognition to believe in everything, that is a mistake of empiricism!
"This is what it feels like to be a human being.... "
King Solomon's solemn and mighty face showcased an expression of overwhelmed joy. He seemed to be smiling, but the smile was as ugly as a old witch's scowl, as if he had never laughed in the past.
Even Roy felt that it was not as much a smile as much a sorrowful man crying in despair.
"S, sorry, sorry. I have never felt what it's like to be a human, my emotions are not matching, hehehe~"
King Solomon didn't possess the pride and godliness that a Heretic God holds. He scratched the back of his head with his hands and smiled shyly.
The whole temperament became frivolous as a pure smile surfaced on his face, eyes beaming with joy and happiness to be 'alive', even Roy can't bear to generate hostility at such a pure smile devoid of malaise, untainted by worldly sins.
"Never felt what it's like to be a human? As far as I know, King Solomon is a human, right?"
King Solomon who was inspecting his clothes answered with a shy smile, he seemed to have changed from a 'king' to a carefree 'commoner':
"Ah! Actually, I don't really want to discuss this topic. But since you agreed to listen to my words, it's my turn to respond in kind~"
"Actually, 'Solomon' is just a machine that follows his mission. To accomplish the mission of what he is entitled with, he is just the last bridge between Man and God."
"King Solomon accepted God's gift to rule over the country, enacted laws, was respected and loved by people, and then waited for death after completing his mission. Returning God's gift to heaven is his last mission. That's it, all of Solomon's life is just moving forward according to the script that has been set long ago.. There is no Solomon's own will in it. Because he has no 'humanity', he is just a husk of 'human'..."
The king in front of him showed a pessimistic mood. It wasn't that he was mourning over his past, it was just that this person was a pessimist.
Roy thought of the words that Princess Alice said when she she was summoning the Heretic God.
'He who was born to be a King... respected by the masses as a wise, gentle king who was full of love for his country... but actually devoid of human emotions.'
At this moment Roy finally understood.
The 'Solomon' is just the mechanism of the connection between God and Man. It is just a robot with a defined fixed work route.
His task is to lead Israel to become stronger and then get destroyed by rebelling against God, becoming a part of the Old Testament, he had no so called 'will' of his own.
Think of it in this way, Roy's eyes on Solomon changed. There was no mercy in it, because he knows that mercy is the evil that can hurt people the most. He just sighed for a while and said neutrally:
"...Phew. A boring life you had there."
"Your excellency made me even more uncomfortable. Uncomfortable...? This feeling is uncomfortable...? T-this is an emotion I have never experienced before... I don't like it, so why do I desire it... But, I like it."
The king in front of him hesitated, as he gained human feeling, he himself has his own curiousity and doubts.
"Oh yes! This world is not the world I originally lived in. This is neither any parallel world. It's incredible. Does another world still exist outside of the world? My current state is called the Heretic God. So your Excellency, was it you who called me here, or was it the existence behind you?"
"You can see Aiwass?"
Roy asked in surprise. Solomon is first person to be able to discover the existence of Aiwass ever since he arrived in this world, even Pandora couldn't do.
"If the 'Aiwass' you mentioned, is the angel-like existence behind you, then indeed."
King Solomon's tone was slightly reserved, he seemed to have gradually becoming familiar with all the emotions of being a human.
"You can discover Aiwass, know you are a being called Heretic God and even recognize this world as one different one from your's in such a short period of time, I feel a little bit unbelievable. Should I say, as expected of King Solomon, the King of Unfathomable Wisdom?"
Roy exclaimed. He can comprehend so many things in such a short time. This guy deserves to be called 'Solomon, the Incarnate of Ultimate Wisdom'.
"Wisdom is only the wisdom that the Lord has given, it is not something that innately belongs to Solomon... and I am still wondering why I have 'humanity'."
King Solomon sincerely stated his coherent train of thoughts without hesitation, he didn't at all tried to glorify himself, but even degraded himself.
Roy stared at him for a long time and sighed.
"I am now sure that Solomon's wisdom is really only God's wisdom, not the humane wisdom."
"As for why you have 'humanity'. I can probably guess why, the so-called descending as a Heretic God is to remove the constraints of the myth, let them transcend the meaning of the myth, twist them, and descend on the earth. For example, a kind-hearted god who protects the people may becomes evil when he comes to the earth after being twisted. A God who is heretic to its myth is called a Heretic God."
"And since you say that King Solomon is a machine without 'humanity', then under the summoning ritual of the god of heretic intentions, the mythological concept of King Solomon is distorted so that you can transcend the fetters of mythology and become the twisted form of 'inhumanity'. Huh, looks like the key of joy is disobedience."
As Roy explained, he fell into his own train of thoughts.
If he slays King Solomon what kind of authority will he receive? If he usurps the 'Wisdom of God' will he become a inhumane 'machine' that follows God's will, or a being devoid of emotion?
If such he would rather not slay King Solomon.
If Will stops and cries Why, invoking Because, then Will stops & does nought. If Power asks why, then is Power weakness.
Becoming a puppet of God defies his true will.
But, where can he find a more compatible spiritual base...
Just when Roy was struggling with his inner thoughts, Solomon's request came forth:
"Your Excellency, I have an unrelenting request. I know the inevitable enmity between Campiones and Heretic Gods. I also know the inevitable end of me as a being of another world, but please. Please let me live in this world as a human, let me flow in these symphony of emotions for a while, afterwards, I will willingly, without resistance, give you my life."
