Chapter 99: Hogwarts, Please Graduate Soon, Ch 63.1
Bang!
Cho pushed Wayne against the oak door of the castle with such force that Wayne was somewhat taken aback.
"Are you insane, Wayne!"
Unlike her usual gentleness, Cho now resembled a disgruntled cat, her face filled with anger and impatience.
"Why do you have to make such a scene? Can't you just report it by yourself?"
"Why involve others?"
Cho was genuinely angry, frustrated by Wayne's recklessness. She had received some Eastern education and understood that many British people don't grasp the subtleties of situations.
Once things escalate, the nature of the situation changes in the eyes of those in power.
Even if you are completely justified in your actions and have valid reasons, inciting others is seen as disrupting harmony and stability, ignoring the bigger picture.
What would Dumbledore think of Wayne at that moment?
Wayne could clearly see the glimmer of tears forming in Cho's eyes, causing his heart to ache.
Without speaking, he raised his arm, turning a fallen leaf into a tissue, gently wiping the corner of Cho's eye.
The tender gesture made Cho's cheeks blush slightly, but she quickly composed herself.
"Stop digressing! What should we do now?"
Wayne smiled, "Don't worry, Cho."
"I understand your concerns. If it had been any other headmaster, I wouldn't have acted this way."
He looked up, peering through the night at the tower.
"But since the headmaster is Dumbledore, he won't get angry."
Wayne was the second person who understood Dumbledore well; the first one was locked up in the New Mont Tower.
Seeing his confidence, Cho didn't know what to say. She glanced around before asking:
"What about Hermione? After such a huge incident, she hasn't scolded you?"
"Of course she did," Wayne replied with a bitter smile, rubbing his lower back. "It took me a whole class to calm Miss Granger down. My back still hurts from it."
As she watched Wayne, Cho couldn't help but chuckle. Just as she was about to scold him lightly, a flash appeared in the air.
This time, it wasn't Fawkes, but Dumbledore's phoenix, Fawkes.
Fawkes spiraled once and landed on Wayne's shoulder.
"Chirp! Chirp!"
"You said the headmaster is looking for me?" Wayne nodded and reassured Cho, whose face had paled a little.
"Don't worry, I'll be right back, I won't get into trouble."
In the headmaster's office, the huge desk was piled high with various letters.
Dumbledore was reading one of the letters with great interest.
"It says here that I accepted a bribe from Quirrell to help him become the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor."
"For heaven's sake, I haven't fallen that low!"
Severus Snape, seated on the other side, sneered, "If a few Galleons could change your mind, I could fill your office with gold Galleons any time!"
To be honest, Snape felt a bit pleased. He had applied for the Defense Against the Dark Arts position many years ago, especially since Harry's arrival had increased his urgency for the job.
But Dumbledore had actually given it to Quirrell instead!
