Chapter 104: The Legend of the Magical Girl
"Monsters! Pale white monsters!" The panic was palpable.
Previously, Honkai attacks had been confined to specific areas, allowing the authorities to manage the flow of information. But now, disasters were erupting across the city, and reports about the Honkai beasts spread like wildfire throughout the entire ARC City network.
"They're not monsters. They're Honkai beasts." As the chaos unfolded, the truth—once hidden within manga pages—began to surface.
The authorities scrambled to control the narrative. They immediately tried to label the reports as fake news. But as more and more photos flooded the internet, it became impossible to shut it down.
Someone was intentionally spreading information about the Honkai, and the authorities realized it too late.
Meanwhile, in a certain part of the city, the ground shook beneath the roar of a giant beast as the Honkai descended.
Screams echoed through the streets as civilians fled in panic. But for the Honkai beasts, the louder the humans were, the more it attracted their attention.
A Templar-class Honkai beast swung its massive spear, piercing a building with a single strike. Just as it was about to begin its rampage, a flash of crimson red leapt down from a rooftop. With incredible force, the mysterious figure shattered the Honkai beast's spear.
"All civilians, evacuate immediately!" Himeko's voice rang out, commanding and urgent. "We'll deal with the Honkai beast!"
Honkai energy surged within her body. She swung the greatsword that Ren had prepared for her, slashing at the beast with deadly precision.
"Is that the magical girl?" Some parents, who had begun to accept that magical girls were real, looked on in awe. But when they asked their children about her, they were met with confused expressions.
The battle didn't last long. Ren hadn't bothered to control the aura of the Herrscher of Thousands, so the Honkai beasts didn't dare to attack her. They were nothing more than punching bags for the powerful figure.
Once the battle ended, the civilians, who had fled in fear, began to return. They saw that the danger was gone and approached the masked woman who had saved them.
"Are you Magical Girl Kiana's friend?" Some of the bolder children asked. Though their parents tried to hush them, many had witnessed the battle firsthand.
What surprised everyone, however, was Himeko's response. She didn't deny it. Instead, she smiled and pulled out a manga.
"This is the second volume of Magical Girl Kiana. The answers you're looking for can be found here." Her smile was warm and inviting. Her figure, curvy and confident, caused some of the older boys to blush.
But it was the mention of the "second volume" that set the children off. They scrambled eagerly, desperate to get their hands on a copy.
"Okay, the magical girl is saving the world right now. You have to gather your hopes and send them to her so she can become stronger."
"Okay!" The children yelled, excitement lighting up their faces. They had already abandoned Ultraman to support Magical Girl Kiana, but now, not only could they cheer for their magical hero, they could also send their power to her—just like with Ultraman. It was the perfect dream come true for fans of both.
After ensuring the safety of everyone in the area, Himeko quickly departed, leaving behind a group of ecstatic children and speechless adults.
And this wasn't an isolated event. It was happening all over the city. The plan was nearing its final stages. Aside from Moth of Ink, Ren had dispatched almost all of his puppets.
If World Serpent hadn't caused the Honkai outbreaks, Ren would have had to find other ways to promote the magical girl. But with the appearance of the Honkai beasts, the people who had been saved would never forget the presence of Magical Girl Kiana.
When humanity's greatest enemy, a Herrscher, replaced Schicksal and became the savior in the hearts of the people, could you remain still, Otto?
Kiana, however, was unaware of what was happening in the city. She had already reached the signal tower, and the massive Honkai bomb at its peak was clearly visible. But as she prepared to use her powers, she immediately sensed a looming danger.
"Kiana, the bomb is in an extremely unstable state. If you use the Herrscher of the Void's power, the bomb will immediately explode."
"Damn it, it seems I'll have to approach it directly." This had already been within his expectations. Kiana didn't feel discouraged at all. She glanced back at the hospital, but it was too far away. She couldn't see the situation there.
The worry in her heart couldn't be dispelled. Kiana took a few deep breaths, trying to adjust her mental state. She didn't have a way out anymore. She could only place all of her hopes on Mei.
Buzz—
A pulse signal suddenly spread out. A massive beam of light shot into the sky from the signal tower, even tearing a hole through the clouds. The bright moonlight, which no longer had any obstructions, shone on the girl's body.
"Not good. There are probably less than ten minutes left before the bomb is activated, Ki…" Before Fu Hua could finish her last word, Kiana had already jumped down from the sky.
The bright moon shone in the sky. The white-haired girl was like a bird in the night sky. The people who were still in the city center finally saw the magical girl's figure.
She wore a crown created from the full moon. Her body radiated silver light. She had arrived to save this world.
"She's… saving the world."
Buzz—
Accompanied by an even more intense beam of light, this time, not just the city center, almost everyone in the city could see that bright beam of light. All eyes were on the signal tower.
Although many people still didn't know what was happening, under Ren's subtle influence, everyone knew that Magical Girl Kiana was saving the world.
Even that beam of light had been specifically created by Ren to attract everyone's attention. It didn't have any connection to the Honkai bomb.
She was clearly saving the world, so why did she have to hide?
The previous Overseer, Nancy, had been like that. Cecilia had also been like that. All of their contributions had been hidden and stolen by Otto. He had even tried to slander them.
Even those nameless Valkyries, who had dedicated their lives to the people, weren't even able to peacefully retire.
And, in the original timeline, after Kiana had saved ARC City, she was immediately captured by Durandal. And even when she was covered in wounds, and was on the verge of death, Otto had still forced her to undergo the experiment, Project Stigma.
"I want everyone to know that you are the true savior."
Perhaps it was a personal obsession, or perhaps it was the influence of the Herrscher of Thousands, but Ren didn't want Kiana to endure the malice of the world like that.
The previous Herrscher of Thousands had done everything he could to try and revive Sirin. He had yearned for someone to lead them, to dominate them.
And, the path that Ren had chosen was the same, but the one he had chosen was Kiana.
She would be his weapon, and also his light.
"You will illuminate everything, and shine your light into the distance."
