Harry Potter: Using science to be IMMORTAL

Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Tasks Ahead

"All the students and professors of Hogwarts will be relocated here."

Director of the Auror Office, Racim, pointed to a building not far from the mansion, "Umbrella Special Skills Academy. They will gradually make themselves known to the Muggles."

Murphy nodded, "We still need to maintain secrecy for now. Though we've started to loosen up, the Statute of Secrecy benefits us for as long as it remains in effect."

After the major incident at Hogwarts, with the basilisk, the fog, and the resurrection ritual, its safety has become hard to trust. After all, Hogwarts has existed for over a thousand years, and who knows what secrets it still harbors.

Moreover, Hogwarts appears to be one of the points closest to the "spirit world," which is why its magical level has always been exceptionally high, and why the founders chose to build the school there in the first place.

The Virgin Mary also chose to summon the Black Ship there.

But students just want to learn magic, needing knowledge. Although studying magic in an ancient castle is more interesting, studying in a concrete building is not impossible.

For Murphy, practicality is most important, and the secrets of Hogwarts are better used for research.

A concrete schoolhouse might not have the same charm, but Cambridge and Oxford aren't renowned for their ancient buildings either.

"How are things on the French side?"

After visiting the school, Murphy inquired about the magical world's affairs.

Dumbledore and Grindelwald have been lobbying European countries. Naturally, they couldn't accept Murphy's Mind Network, so Murphy sent a few Aurors with them to report back the situation.

"Progress is not very smooth," Racim said. "Their Deputy Minister died in a bombing last year, and the French have harbored resentment over this. Dumbledore can at best prevent them from starting a war against us in the new union, but it's hard to win them over."

Yes, the Wizarding Union has been resurrected.

They even invited Dumbledore to continue serving as president, but no one mentioned it again after the news of Dumbledore joining the "Wizarding Alliance" spread.

The significant blow to the International Wizarding Union nearly a year ago wiped out most of the hardliners, leaving only moderates and conservatives.

Being indecisive, even though the Wizarding Union has been rebuilt for a few months now, they still haven't made any decisions regarding how to deal with the British wizarding world, Murphy, or the "Wizarding Alliance."

Such a loose organization poses little threat but is somewhat annoying.

"However, the Germans have reacted quite well," Racim hurriedly said, noticing Murphy's expression. "Mr. Grindelwald still has a very high reputation in Germany, and many elderly people remember him, and many of them still hold high positions."

"Some have expressed willingness to lean towards us, but it will take some time to bring the German Ministry of Magic over. After all, it has been fifty years since Mr. Grindelwald left there."

Murphy nodded, his mood visibly improved.

The British Ministry of Magic and Arkaim's announcement to establish the "Wizarding Alliance" didn't make much of a splash in the wizarding world compared to the long-established International Wizarding Union. This so-called Wizarding Alliance, with only two major powers, seemed too much like an amateur group.

Although Murphy wanted to forcefully unify the world through military might, he wasn't ready to be at odds with the world yet. And even if he succeeded, the aftermath would be problematic. So, he preferred a more discreet approach where possible.

Europe only has a few important countries, and if either France or Germany leans towards the Wizarding Alliance, convincing others will be much easier.

It won't be easy, but at least Dumbledore's joining has at least eased relations between the Wizarding Alliance and the various magical governments, giving the Alliance time to develop.

That's a decent outcome.

...

Back at the cottage on White Stoat Mountain, Murphy pulled out a piece of paper.

He wrote down a line: "Known facts."

He needed to organize his thoughts. Recently, he had more and more on his plate - the wizarding world, Muggle society, the lab, Umbrella, etc. - and felt he needed to prioritize.

He tapped the pencil on that line.

Known facts: The awareness effect of magic means the more people know about magic, the stronger the world's magical density becomes, eventually leading to the return of gods. And it's highly likely these gods are malevolent.

He didn't write this down, as it was just for organizing his thoughts; there was no need to document everything.

The gods' malevolence wasn't explicitly stated by anyone, but from the Virgin Mary and Dumbledore's efforts to stop Murphy from breaking the Statute of Secrecy, at least they believe the return of gods would be highly detrimental to wizards.

Next, he wrote: "Unknown situations."

There are still many unknowns, such as what exactly are gods? They are clearly different from the omnipotent beings Murphy aspires to be, otherwise, they wouldn't be restricted.

How strong are they? Do they have any weaknesses?

And, if they are overall more powerful than wizards, how did wizards manage to restrict them in the first place?

The Virgin Mary and Dumbledore mentioned "vows" many times.

However, Dumbledore only knew it was an ancient magic passed down through wizard bloodlines, similar to the Fidelius Charm, which restricts magic within the informed, making it invisible to the uninformed, thus narrowing the scope of magic.

But Dumbledore didn't know how this vow was accomplished.

If the gods knew this vow was harmful to them, wouldn't they prevent wizards from completing such a significant task?

Maybe understanding the process of establishing the vow could lead to a way to confront the gods.

Thinking this, Murphy wrote down the third line, "Tasks to do."

He had many tasks, such as enhancing human society's overall strength to face the invasion of gods and clarifying the situation with gods to ensure his decision won't obliviously doom humanity.

Secondly, he needed to enhance his own strength.

As the range of magic awareness expands, the upper limit of magic will also increase. It's been a while since he's improved his strength, and if he remains static while humanity's overall strength grows capable of facing the invasion of gods, being casually slapped to death by some minor deity would be quite embarrassing.

So, he wrote down three phrases on the paper: "Information on gods," "Human society's capabilities," and "Personal strength."

Clarifying information on gods could go hand in hand with understanding the vow, so he drew a line from "Information on gods" and wrote "Vow." Perhaps it's time to check books and other records for anything similar.

As for the second, enhancing the world's ability to confront gods, Murphy had some ideas, essentially unifying forces, developing technology, and preparing for war.

"Just unifying forces" itself meant he had to unify both the Muggle and wizarding worlds, a vast and lengthy task that couldn't be completed overnight.

He set that aside for now and looked at the last phrase: Personal strength.

Speaking of which, he had a ready-made method that had been verified by Lucas to enhance his own computational power.

Mechanical Ascension!

The central computer room in the National Science City of Sukhbaatar should be completed by now, right?

Waited for so long

, these last few days drained my brain. This chapter is a preliminary version and might be edited later. Tomorrow's update will be late, but fortunately, I've sorted out most of it. If nothing major happens, this volume should feature some explosive plots. I've come up with several good ideas. I'll continue to smooth out the storyline tomorrow, so don't wait for the 8 PM update; it will probably be late.

By the way, I've changed the book title to "Hogwarts: Becoming a God from Selling Dittany," now that we're in the later stages, consider it an experiment.
