Chapter 270: Chapter 270 – Change in Strategy

When the team entered their private waiting room, Lily immediately greeted Max with a smile and handed him a towel. He received and used it to wipe his sweat.

Lisa was also inside. The secretary had prepared drinks and towels for each of them. Of course, she didn't hand them in personally. She even asked Flexy to fetch them for his teammates.

Ferin helped Atlas wipe his sweat lovingly. Both of them were the epitome of what ideal lovers could be. And on the side, Lily began to imitate them, snatching the towel from Max and beginning to help him despite his unwillingness.

"What is this difference in treatment?" The orange-haired streamer slumped his shoulders, looking at Lisa with a hopeful gaze.

The secretary only looked at him coldly and pushed her glasses up.

"I am busy, so I will excuse myself first." She said before turning around. "Breeze, if he whine, tell me. I will give you $100 for each report of Flexy's bad behavior."

"Roger that." Max smiled at Lisa and saw her leaving. That would be easy money.

"Buddy… You aren't serious, aren't you?" Flexy groaned.

Turning at Flexy, he grinned, "What do you think?"

"Ugh… $150 to keep you silent."

"Make it $200."

"$175. That's final. More than that will only make me broke."

"Deal. Hehe, nice to have a business with you, buddy."

"I will hold that promise. Don't tell Lisa if I ever whine in the future."

"I got you."

Both reached an understanding and invited laughs from the other three. A little joke was nice to break the tension from the first game, and everyone understood that.

They gathered and created a small circle. Flexy began to tell them what he gained from the first match and exchanged ideas.

All of them agreed that the attack toward the enemy base at first wave should be done by at least 2 people to catch the enemies off guard. The other thing they agreed on was that they couldn't defend the base past the 8th wave. However, Max proposed something.

"I want to try a defensive strategy and put Lily inside the team for one time, with her using a sniper rifle with me. So our team will have 2 SR, 1 Rifle, and 1 MG. I think this will work."

"Can you give us the reason?" Flexy asked as he seriously considered the strategy Max proposed.

Atlas and Ferin also looked at him, waiting for the explanation.

"The problem we faced on the 8th wave is that there is not enough firepower. But if we focused on firepower alone by adding MG, our strategy to attack one base at the start of the game would be useless. That's why SR is a good choice, in my opinion.

"I am confident that holding SR will only affect my movement slightly. And we have proved that Atlas was enough to destroy one base alone if we're careful. So, I was thinking of supporting the first attack, and we can focus on defense after that."

"But what about me? Why should I take Ferin's place?" Lily, who didn't join the first match, asked curiously, "If it's about attacking, isn't Ferin and Atlas enough? You can stay with Flexy to defend the base."

"The wave boss." Flexy raised his voice in realization, and Max nodded.

"Our opponent teams can't handle the wave boss from the 6th wave onward. The 3rd wave boss gave us 500 annihilation points, while the 4th gave us 700 points. From 5th wave onward, they give us a fixed 1000 annihilation points. It's a lot, but too risky." Max explained.

"Because it's too risky, our enemies also ignored it, making the wave boss roam freely around the map. Have you noticed that the last 2 teams are destroyed by a 7th and 8th wave boss, respectively?"

Atlas snapped his fingers.

"That's why Breeze wants to arm us with 2 SR. It's to try to survive the 8th wave. We will gain a lot of survival points if we can reach 10th wave, seeing that even MiceMice can't survive the 9th wave."

Nodding, Max continued, "It's not only that. But I also want to kill and steal the wave boss from the enemy. As you know from our previous practice, the first wave boss only needed two SR shots to take down. The second and third probably took four or five rounds. You know what I mean."

"We can try," Flexy said, grinning widely. He turned to Ferin, "Do you mind sitting the next match out? I want to try various strategies in case we meet an opponent we can't beat or focus on a defensive play like MiceMice and bigSACK."

"Then, that's decided." Max grinned.

He was excited about the new strategy. Stealing the boss kill would frustrate the enemy teams. Their morale would be affected, and so was their gameplay. Someone who got mad easily would make mistakes easier.

Turning to Lily, he asked the most important question, "Think you're up for the job, Lily?"

"Un, I'll do my best." She nodded and looked pretty spirited.

Afterward, Flexy proposed some strategies to test in the later game before they took a 30 minute break. They were pretty much for fun, as he noticed his followers increased at a fast speed.

Max was also asked to check his, but the increment wasn't as fast as Flexy's.

'I got 50K new followers in Punch, making it 850K. And 400K people followed my Strike. My Punchtube is… Well, only 300K subscribers for now, but that's okay. It's growing nicely.'

Compared to the 150K growth that Flexy gained, even when he already had a million followers, 50K was just not much. The main reason was that he didn't stream this Scrim.

At first, he planned to stream it. But after watching his friend's effort, he decided not to.

'I don't want to bother Flexy with a chance to grow his channel more.'

It wasn't all bad for him, considering his name was still included in the description along with the others. And if Flexy had more followers, he would definitely be affected as they were seen as a pair of friends and often stream together.

Max walked down the corridor behind the stage near their waiting room. He noticed Lily sat on a box while sipping orange juice. He approached her and asked.

"Are you nervous?"

Lily looked at him and nodded, "Slightly."

Her hands moved nonstop, showing how nervous she was.

"That's rare."

It was pretty surprising. Lily being nervous? Max never saw her like that… Well, not that he knew her for a long time already. That was why he quite liked to know her more.

"Are you not nervous, Max?"

"Rather than nervous, I am more than excited." He answered. "I mean, isn't competing against those professional gamers fun?"

"Is it?"

"Yes, it is."

"Fun, huh?" Lily muttered, her hands couldn't stop playing with the empty glass in her hand, "I guess I will change my thinking. Is it fine if I have fun in the competition too?"

"Why not? I don't see why you shouldn't enjoy the competition."

"I see…" A smile blossomed on her face. "Let's have fun, Max. Let's kill those people with snipers."

Her priority was strange, but Max nodded nonetheless.
Visit us at m-vlem,pyr

"Yeah, let's have fun."
