Chapter 217: Chapter 214

The soul splitting was successful and it was not surprising, because this ritual was already more than five thousand years old, and it has never failed.

But something still surprised Severus a little, it was the old man's knowledge, especially in the direction of runes, because during the ritual Snape used symbols from his world and the spirit was able to read them with ease. And while leaving the mountains, Severus asked about this, to which the old wizard replied that he found records in which they were used in the same place where he found the "holy water", and after spending a couple of decades, he was able to translate each symbol and study this language of runes, but he was having difficulty applying them in practice, and it was because of this that the runes that were applied to the altar and the rhombus in which his soul was stored belonged to this world.

Severus was more than pleased with the outcome of this journey, in addition to the fact that he was able to find crystals filled with pure magic, he got his hands on water from the "Sacred Spring", with the help of which he would be able to greatly increase his chances in the upcoming battle. But Severus had not yet decided how exactly to use it, but he had only two options: forge a sword, using it as a material, or save it for the final battle and use it against the strongest Devil.

In the first case, the effectiveness would be several times less, but the main thing is that he would be able to suppress regeneration and it would become much easier to kill dark creatures, but against stronger ones, like the Higher Devils, he would only weaken it a little.

And in the second case, the wizard would be able to completely suppress regeneration, but it would only last for a very short time, and so the choice was too difficult and for now he decided to postpone this issue until he collected all the materials for the sword.

And the Prince didn't even think about saving it and drinking it if he suddenly found himself on the verge of death, because he still had honey, as well as potions created from the "Heart of the Treant King" and the latter were no less effective than the first.

But besides this, Severus was also glad that he was able to find such a valuable "companion" who knew a lot about the history of both the world of magic and the world of Muggles, although mainly only about China.

But besides this, the most important thing is that he will be able to teach the Qilins to use light magic, which will definitely play a significant role in the battle with those creatures, and Snape was very interested in the place where the old wizard found water and runes ...

_________

Moving along the deserted evening street of the magic market belonging to the Fire Phoenix group, Severus paid almost no attention to the goods displayed behind the glass and simply walked towards the nearest hotel.

"What a disappointing sight… the wizardshave weakened so much and fallen behind in all directions over these two thousand years…" the spirit sighed sadly, looking at the wizardspassing by, it was too painful a sight for him.

After all, this was his homeland, once one of the most advanced countries in terms of magic, and now even looking at where it had slipped was very difficult, "And even the density of magic has decreased. What is happening to this world…? Where is it leaking away…?"

Stopping in front of the entrance to a small two-story building with a sign depicting a bed, and letting three women pass by, two of whom had a Phoenix depicted on their necks, Snape went inside. "If after two thousand years the density, as you said earlier, has decreased by only twenty percent, then we can still relax, and I think I have an answer to this question. But to be sure of it, you have to do the impossible..." Approaching the bar counter, where two men were sitting and arguing about something, he put one gold coin on the table, to which the elderly Asian, the owner of the hotel, nodded slightly and, running his hand over it, in place of the coin, keys with a tag appeared.

"Room two hundred and three, breakfast, lunch and dinner on schedule," he pointed to the leaflet, to the right of the bar, next to the cabinet, in which there were gray and white vessels, closed with a cork, "Do not leave the room at night and do not let anyone in until the morning, even if they knock and beg for help."

".. thank you," Snape nodded slowly, puzzled by such rules, but somehow did not comment on them. In his time, he had been to stranger places.

Turning and looking at the guests, the lion's share of whom were women, he walked past the tables and headed for the stairs.

"What did you mean? Do you really know why and where the magic leaks out?" the old man asked impatiently, he was really worried about this question, even though he was already a ghost, but even for him, magic was needed to live in this form.

"Yes, but in this case, it should not decrease in density, which means that in addition to that place, it leaks out somewhere else ..." Severus answered thoughtfully, leaving the landing and looking at the door with the number "151", and then at the next one, on the right, under the number "152", he turned towards it and went forward, along an endless corridor, where he was completely alone and, like in the best horror films: with every step, the wooden floor creaked, and the flame on the candelabra darted from side to side, as if a light breeze was blowing from somewhere, which a priori could not be in this place, "Hmm ... cozy …"

"You still haven't answered my question ," the old wizard reminded him, as if not noticing what was happening outside.

"Do you know anything about the "Magic Jungle"?"

"A very dangerous place, even I didn't dare go there at the time..." he began, but then suddenly fell silent, as if he had realized something.

"That's where the lion's share of magic flows, in the center of this place, creatures are locked that are much stronger than that creature in the crystal, and if they break free, it will be the end of humanity..." Such a revelation truly shocked the spirit in the watch, because he always considered that creature at the bottom of the crevice to be a real monster of monsters.

After all, in order to defeat and seal it, as many as three hundred of the strongest wizards in the world united, half of whom sacrificed their lives for this, but they were never able to kill it.

And if in the magical jungle there are creatures that require so much magic to contain, then he was simply afraid to imagine how powerful they were and whether humanity even had a chance to survive if they broke free.

Severus himself did not distract the old man from his thoughts and finally, having reached the right door, ignoring the strangeness of this hotel, he simply entered the room, which was nothing special.

Like the outside, the walls were made of wood, without any wallpaper or patterns, at the other end of the room there was a double bed with clean white bed linen.

Above it, on the left, a small window, at the head of the bed a chest of drawers, and to the right of the entrance a large wardrobe.

This room looked very simple and boring, which Nagini almost immediately shared with him "It was much better in the last hotel, here it is somehow dull, gray and ... uncomfortable …" she recalled the words of the owner of the hotel.

When Severus sat down on the bed and threw off his hood, the snake also slid down onto it and crawled to the window, from where a pleasant view of the magical market opened up.

"We are not here for long, tomorrow morning I will go for the last target, and then I suggest moving to the world of Muggles, their hotels are much better, and the food there is excellent."

"I completely agree!" she nodded cheerfully, contentedly sticking out her tongue, remembering the five-star hotel in Brazil, "By the way, why did we stop here and not return to the last hotel?"

"The one I'm looking for appears only in this place, and in order not to waste time moving, I decided that I could stay here for the night," as soon as the wizard snapped his fingers, the bed linen evaporated, appearing on the bed already spread out, "As usual?" he looked at the snake, raising an eyebrow.

"Let's watch something different from those comedies we watched then."

"Okay…"

***

After another late-night movie marathon, which the old man did not bother to join, they went to bed only at three in the morning, and after sleeping for another four hours, Severus had to get up and get ready for the upcoming meeting.

This time he did not leave Nagini in the room, this place was too strange. But how strange exactly, the prince could not understand, for the reason that nothing happened.

In the business card that the Slytherin received from the seller of magical animals, there was a place and time where you can meet a person engaged in the sale of what he was looking for, and they acted according to the same scheme ...

_________

At seven forty, he approached a small alley, near which a man in a robe stood, as if waiting for someone.

He occasionally looked around and did nothing else.

"Good morning," the Prince greeted him with a smile, to which the Asian frowned in response, but remained silent, "He who was burned in the flame of the Phoenix will never see peace," and after these words, the wizard's face smoothed out and something like a smile appeared on it, and he extended his hand.

"Your colleague, before he was tied up, recommended that I come to you, I am looking for something specific that you should definitely have …" Severus added, placing the scroll, previously given to him by the old man, on the man's palm.

"Okay, follow me…" Without even opening it, he put the item under his robe and turned around, entering the alley, and Severus silently followed him. "And why am I so lucky…?"
