Do you know what it felt like to feel the sun?
It feels great as the sunset shows in the distance almost at night..
"Praise the sun~ Ahh…" I murmur, closing my eyes for a moment. Nothing compares to this simple pleasure, to the glow of warmth after hours spent in the cold, dark dungeon below. It's moments like these that make everything else worth it.
I can't believe I can even feel the heat from the sun, this is such breakthrough in technology.
But as I stand there, I begin to notice the stares. People passing by have been sneaking glances ever since I emerged from the dungeon, their expressions shifting between surprise, confusion, and maybe a bit of fear with the way they are whispering against each other.
My armor must seem out of place, strange and intimidating to them. After all, it covers every inch of me in sleek, tactical layers, from helmet to boots, in stark contrast to the other adventurers around here, who wear either tough but casual metal plates or simple, rugged clothes.
It doesn't help that my armor is splattered with traces of blood from the fierce battles below. They probably think I'm some kind of maniac or worse, a monster myself.
I take a breath, reminding myself that these are just NPCs, nothing more. Still, they're impressively realistic. If it weren't for my HUD reminding me, I could easily mistake them for players.
"Eh, whatever," I mutter under my breath. They're just NPCs. Who cares if they stare?
Yet, a part of me feels intrigued. These NPCs are far too lifelike to ignore, and the idea of studying them, maybe capturing a few for, well… experiments… crosses my mind.
I grin to myself, already feeling a strange excitement build. "Ahh~ I can't wait."
So in the meantime, while I try to find a way to exit the server I'll keep myself entertained. Just play around like usual, Gmod-style
With a smirk, I pull out my trusty Tool Gun, the interface lighting up as I scroll through the endless list of options. My finger hovers over "Vehicles," and after a moment's consideration, I settle on the iconic Hunter-Chopper.
I click, and the familiar low hum of the Tool Gun fills the air as the chopper begins to materialize, piece by piece, in the middle of the street. First, the cockpit appears, followed by the sleek, deadly curves of the rotor blades, then the sturdy frame, and finally, the imposing tail.
With a heavy thud, the fully-formed chopper drops to the ground, startling a few nearby NPCs who jump back, wide-eyed.
"What!" "The hell is that thing?!" "Huh?"
Ignoring their shocked reactions, I climbed into the cockpit with Paddy, who settled comfortably beside me, floating in his usual box form. I flicked the switches to power it on, and the rotor blades began to spin, kicking up dust and scattering debris as they gained momentum.
Moments later, with a satisfying whir, we lifted off the ground, leaving a trail of startled NPCs below.
At around 500 meters up, I tilted the controls forward, taking us past the towering city walls. Once we were far enough from prying eyes, I scanned the landscape for a secluded spot, somewhere out of sight and out of mind. Then I set up a base and began experimenting with different ways in order to exit this server.
/
It is nighttime, I got bored despite trying various ways to finally exit this server but it ends in failure even with Paddy's help considering he was the one with the most information about the system itself.
Once I got bored of trying to find the exit, I decided to visit a pub to kill some time alongside Paddy and maybe try the food inside for some simple curiosity considering I can even smell the food from food vendors and have been wanting to try it.
While I was outside Orario waiting and playing around with the tool gun to see if there was anything differend then before, I asked Paddy to look around and get me a map by gathering information from looking at the map and even looking around by himself.
And by the nighttime moment, I came back to the Orario Paddy already provided me with the map and information about Orario. Which I plan to read at the pub while eating.
So this time I won't be lost both in dungeon and in this city considering this is accurate information that he gather personally.
I held up the holographic map he'd projected, the pale blue glow illuminating our path in the dimly lit streets. "So, this is the way, right, Paddy?" I pointed at a narrow alley branching off the main road.
"Affirmative," Paddy replied smoothly, adjusting the map as I walked.
Soon, we arrived at the pub—a cozy establishment with warm lights spilling out from the windows, casting a soft glow onto the cobbled street. The sign above the door read Hostess of Fertility.
Apparently, it was one of the few places open this late, and, according to Paddy, it was known to be relatively safe, given that many of its staff were high-level adventurers.
I stood outside, arms crossed, taking a moment to observe the place. The scent of grilled meat and fresh bread drifted out each time the door swung open, and lively chatter filled the air, mixed with the occasional burst of laughter.
Just as I was about to push the door open, Paddy's voice buzzed softly in my ear. "Report: A figure matching the profile of the girl from earlier is nearby."
"Really?"
"Affirmative," he replied. "She appeared approximately 600 m Northeast and are heading here."
I frowned, curiosity piqued. So, she was close. Coincidence or not, it was hard to ignore, especially since she'd practically bolted the moment she'd spotted me before. That reaction had stung more than I cared to admit. I'd gone out of my way to help her, and she'd responded by treating me like something to flee from.
Subtly, I scanned the area. Not too far off I notice her, she was walking casually down the street, as if she hadn't a care in the world. But then, in a single moment, our eyes met.
She froze, shock rippling across her face. For a split second, we both just stared, and then, true to form, she turned sharply, ready to sprint off again. I caught the intent immediately.
With a flick of my wrist, I reached out with the Force, gently lifting her a few inches off the ground before she could take a single step. Her legs kicked out in reflex, her eyes widening as she found herself suddenly suspended in mid-air.
"Hey!" I called out, raising my arms as if holding her up by invisible strings. I slowly walked closer, a pout forming on my face. "Don't run away! It kinda hurt when you ran off after I saved you, you know."
She thrashed in mid-air, struggling fiercely against the unseen hold. Her eyes were wide with panic, and she twisted and turned, trying to free herself from the invisible grip.
It took about thirty seconds of her furious squirming before she finally started to tire. Her movements slowed, and she hung limply, breathing heavily, clearly exhausted from the effort.
Once I saw her begin to relax, I gently lowered her down, making sure her feet touched the ground softly.
"See? Not so bad," I said, keeping my voice calm, trying to sound reassuring. "I'm not here to hurt you. Just wanted to talk."
She glanced up at me, still wary and looks like emmbarased? I kept my distance, hoping she wouldn't try to run again, and gave her a small, friendly smile.
"U-um... is there something you need from me, mister?" she stammered, her gaze darting away.
"Well… you were the girl I saved earlier, right?" I replied, trying to keep the conversation light.
"Y-yes, r-right! I f-forgot to say t-thank you for saving my life!" she exclaimed, bowing deeply, an unexpected gesture that took me off guard. "My name is Bell Cranel!"
I blinked "Uh, no need to bow like that. It's just what anyone would do," I said, waving a hand dismissively before I realize something. "But your name can you repeat it? I didn't catch it the first time."
"B-Bell Cranel!" she repeated, her voice steadier now, though still laced with nervous energy.
....What?
I glanced at Paddy and leaned in closer, whispering, "Hey, Paddy… uh, this might seem rude, but… this person we're talking with is a girl, right?"
"...Affirmative. Scanned indicate that the user in front of you is biological female"
"Uh... I'm sorry if this seems rude, but… do you have a brother?" I asked, genuinely curious.
She tilted her head, looking at me curiously before answering. "Sadly, no. I'm an only child," she said, with a faint sadness flickering in her eyes.
"I see…" I nodded, my expression serious. "Then… forgive me for what I'm about to do."
Her brows furrowed slightly, but before she could fully process my words, I reached out and gently squeezed her chest, confirming Paddy's scan with my own sense of touch.
*Squeezee*
"KYAAA!" Her face turned a deep red as she let out a startled scream, jumping back in shock.
"Gahhh!!" I quickly pulled my hands back, realizing just how insane my action must have looked. My heart was racing as her glare drilled into me, her fists clenched at her sides.
"You...! Wh-What do you think you're doing?!" she yelled, her cheeks still flushed.
I raised my hands defensively, stumbling over my words. "Wait—wait! I-I was just—uh… trying to confirm… uh, a technical error!"
"Pevert!!"
Before I could say anything more, her hand whipped across my face.
