Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 259: New Opponent

Shane was about to ask a few questions to the Regional Chat. He wanted to know whether they'd also encountered this Shelter around this sector. After all, it looked really strange, so there must have been some other people who had seen this Shelter.

However, as he was ab out to do so, a message from the system came. Explore more stories with m,v l'e-m|p| y r

[ You have discovered a Wild Shelter! ]

[ Congratulations, Survivor Shane! Your keen instincts have led you to the discovery of a mysterious Shelter! ]

[ You are the first to find a Shelter unlike any other - a sanctuary tainted by the presence of a Wild Necromancer. This Shelter, not belonging to a fellow Human Survivor but controlled by a malevolent Special Entity, harbors dark forces that threaten the very fabric of humanity. ]

As soon as Shane read this message from the system, he was immediately stunned. He didn't expect that there was such a 'feature' in this Zombie Apocalypse.

After all, based on his memories from the previous two Apocalypses, there weren't such 'Wild' entities. In the A.I. Rebellion, there were only the Anima, the Foreign Survivors, and the native residents of the world they entered… It was quite the same for the Fairy Realm Apocalypse.

There were only the various creatures in the Fairy Realm, the Foreign Survivors, the native residents they could recruit…

There weren't any other entities that could be considered wild.

'Is it considered wild because it attacks both humans and zombies?' Shane thought for a moment since this was certainly quite a new thing for him.

Nonetheless, as he observed the place within the Shelter, the mist was quite thick with an eerie chill, the walls they created pulsated with dark energy, showing that the leader of this Shelter was definitely a practitioner of the Dark Arts or necromancy.

As he thought of this, he continued reading the other notifications.

[ Beware, Survivor Shane, for the forces of the Wild Necromancer are formidable! You may want to build a strong team of Survivors before attacking it. ]

[ Rewards for Discovering the Shelter:

Experience: +100 Points

Rare Artifact: Soulbound Talisman

Zombie Cores: 250

Reputation Points: 50 ]

[ Hint: You will gain incredible rewards if you manage to destroy this Wild Shelter! ]

The rewards and the hint given had surely roused Shane's interest.

"A Rare Artifact and Reputation Points?" Shane nodded as he accepted the free items. Although the Experience was too low, the Talisman and the other rewards were definitely much appreciated…

'Since I'm the first discoverer, there's no point asking the Regional Chat.' Shane muttered after he finished checking the announcements from the system.

'Let's observe this Wild Shelter for now…'

Soon, Shane found a better area to observe the Shelter.

Well, he wanted to have a proper estimate of its strength before he considered whether to attack it or not.

From his vantage point overlooking the Shelter, Shane noticed more details about its defenses. He couldn't help but find this interesting since he knew that it was made by a professional, and he felt that he would gain inspiration for his next Shelter if he ever decided to create one.

A couple of hours had passed, but Shane was still patiently observing the situation.

He studied the movements of the non-human inhabitants or undead and their synchronized movements to repel the Zombie threats that periodically wandered too close…

"Incredible… They're really killing the Zombies…" Shane muttered as a sense of awe mingled with apprehension within him.

'Necromancy… What a nice talent.' Shane mused as he couldn't help but imagine himself using the Necromancy Talent. According to the Regional Chat, the number of Zombies they could summon was also dependent on their Spirit Points. He would surely benefit from that!

Clank! Clank! Clank! The Shelter's defense was definitely not what he had expected… He thought that the Wild Necromancer was only controlling Undead Creatures, and that was all. However, he was completely wrong!

There were automated turrets concealed within the surrounding foliage that sprang into action at the slightest hint of danger!

Even Crawler and Walker Zombies would be shot but turret!

There was no question about their precision targeting and rapid firing!

If there were stronger zombies, it would unleash a barrage of deadly projectiles at any mid-tier zombies. The turrets' firepower was formidable, capable of mowing down the undead so swiftly!

'This is crazy… Automated Turrets! Why is he so advanced right now? Did I discover them too early? Are they supposed to be the final boss or something?' Shane couldn't help but comment while shaking his head.

Even with his various skills, like Aura of Protection, Boosted Steps, and Phantom Dash, he felt that he would still die from that Turret!

Perhaps, he would be able to stop a few bullets with his Tier 5 Army Vests, but numerous bullets would surely be different and he didn't want to test that yet.

As he thought of giving up for now, he saw the movements of a horde of zombies not too far from the Wild Shelter...

'Let's see what will happen for now.'

As the first wave of Spitter Zombies lurched towards the Shelter, they immediately started spitting acid or corrosive projectiles!

The acid spit arced through the air, while the automated defenses responded quickly.

Brrrrtttt~

Streams of concentrated fire rained down upon the grotesque creatures…

However, their acidic attacks were stopped by the undead creatures controlled by the necromancer to protect the automated turrets!

These poor undead received significant damage in their bodies but they had done their part. They protected their weapons!

The Spitter Zombies fell one by one, and just like Shane knew about them, they also exploded after they died!

This explosion created a huge blast, creating dust and smoke.

If not for the A.I.'s Detection, Shane almost failed to notice that several Jumper Zombies started getting closer to the Wild Shelter!

With acrobatic leaps and bounding strides, they closed in on the Shelter with alarming speed!

Shane couldn't help but feel excited about this! After all, he felt that he might benefit if the Wild Shelter was damaged or, at the very least, they managed to destroy the Automated Turret!
