Genius Wizard Conceals His Origins

ANNOUNCEMENT

Hello. Axiomatic here.

This is something I’ve had on my mind for a decent amount of time now, but I’ll begin by going straight to the point.

After I finish translating the last sponsored bonus chapter for Lout Prince, Chapter 315, I will be retiring as a translator.

I have a few reasons why.

I haven’t been getting compensated for the past month and until now due to issues with the ad networks on the site. Ad revenue would have been one of my main sources of income if it were enabled.
I couldn’t mention this earlier on or as soon as the ads got killed since it would have been unprofessional of me to just stop posting chapters just because I wasn’t making money corresponding to my efforts. How would you, the reader, feel if I mentioned that fact?
If my efforts aren’t compensated, you might ask, why not move to another TL site instead? The simple answer: reason 2.
It’s been affecting my sleep schedule and I find it hard to balance translation along with my busy life as a college student. It’s been getting worse and, sometimes, I just wish I didn’t have the attached responsibility of something I chose to start myself.
If I force myself to continue translating, the quality will get worse. I don’t want that to affect the work of the original author who made an amazing novel.
Novelight. I’m sure you’ve seen them translate this novel in advance.
After I started “watermarking” my chapters, even after copy-pasting my chapters on release, they just went ahead and MTL’d until Chapter 300 something and coin-lock those poorly translated chapters. As a reader, I wouldn’t blame you for reading in advance there.
It’s so demoralizing to watch them steal my chapters and even go as far as to go further than where I am.

These reasons sum up my decision to leave the translation business for good and focus on what actually matters and is more important to me in my life.

With that said, I will mention that it’s not the end of the world for Lout Prince.

After I finish Chapter 315, I will be handing over the novel to my close friend IRL, Ruminas, who used to be on this site (Narrow Eyes, Murderer at the Academy, etc.) but is now translating at Fenrir Translations. The only drawback is chapters on that site are mostly coin-locked, but I’m sure my friend will have a system to unlock those coin-locked chapters for everyone via his Ko-fi.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, whether you’re a fan of the novel, or of my translation style. Regarding whether my style will be maintained, don’t worry. The least I’m asking my friend to do is to keep my formatting. At least that will be my legacy in this industry.

Readers of Genius Wizard Conceals His Origins will also see this, so to you guys, know that I’ll be unlocking the coin-locked chapters effective immediately. To anyone who spent money on coin-locked chapters, let me know immediately. I’ll ask DarkStar TL if we can get it refunded. To Littering, who unlocked Chapter 136 for everyone, I’ll be refunding your money. You’re right, keeping the ending of Genius Wizard hostage is mean, but I hope you understand why I had to do it after reading the previous paragraphs.

I’ll be making another announcement after finishing Chapter 315 for my farewell message. As early as now, however, I’ll mention that I’m grateful to everyone who has taken the time to view my translations in any way, and I am grateful to you, the reader, for helping me realize the beauty of Korean web novels via my translations. I am admittedly not an avid reader, and I will admit that Lout Prince is the first web novel I’ve ever read. I hope I did it justice as a first-time TL.

That’s all for now.

Thank you for reading.

TLDR: I’m retiring as a translator, but Lout Prince will be picked up by Ruminas on Fenrir Translations. I’m also unlocking all coin-locked chapters for Genius Wizard, so if you spent money, you can ask for a refund.
