Game’s Dogma

Drako Yau found the scene heart-warming. He silently took a blanket and placed it over Greenstone, but it still woke him from his sleep. Greenstone snapped his eyes open in heightened alertness and only relaxed upon noticing Drako Yau.

“You’re awake?” Greenstone asked.

“Yes.”

“Good.” Greenstone nodded before suddenly striking Drako Yau with his palm.

Drako Yau could barely walk; how could he possibly defend the incoming palm? It sent him flying and tumbling to the ground.

Greenstone howled with an unconcerned look, “Do you realise how dangerous it was? You would’ve died if not for my Ghost Needles and me.”

Drako Yau sat up and rubbed his chest, burning with pain from the palm strike. “But you were there, no?”

“I cannot be there for you forever. You better watch yourself,” Greenstone said before leaving with fluttering sleeves.

Drako Yau rejoined his companions and finally learned what had happened that day. He missed the battle between Oda Nobunaga and Akechi Mitsuhide, but judging from their admiring looks, it must’ve been a jaw-dropping fight. The war ended with Oda Nobunaga barely slaying Akechi Mitsuhide, thus shattering the Akechi army.

Drako Yau had been in a coma during the entire episode. To players, losing consciousness in the game was extremely rare. They’d respawn upon death, and the red alert would pop up when their minds were reaching their limits. However, both were inapplicable for him.

Still, this wasn’t the first occurrence, so his companions were used to it already. Oda Nobunaga also paid him a visit on the battlefield. He instructed them to visit the Oda Clan Residence once Drako Yau woke up before they were all teleported out of the map.

“No reward?” Drako Yau was startled.

Everyone simply shrugged. “Oda Nobunaga said we’ll discuss that when you’re up.”

Drako Yau immediately stood up and headed for the door. “Let’s go right away then.”

He had even risked his beloved Shooting Star for the quest. He could hardly accept that such a difficult quest would give no reward.

The eight headed towards the Oda Clan Residence, while Yim Ho and Man Hing Yau refrained from joining them. They hadn’t taken part in the quest anyways. Players, regardless of their server, were trying to level up as quickly as possible too, so there was no time to waste either.

Dragon Alliance was located in the city of Yoda, and so was the Oda Clan Residence; thus, the trip didn’t take too long. Once they arrived, the guards immediately greeted them respectfully.

The Oda Clan Residence had been around for a while. It was only natural that many players were curious about it. The emergence of a mysterious residence, a tightly guarded one no less, had to be home to many secrets and treasures. However, any player who got too close would receive killing stares from the Oda guards. Some players who thought highly of their lurking skills tried sneaking in, but they all died before they realised what had happened. As time passed, no one bothered nor dared to sneak in anymore.

Yet today, players of Yoda witnessed Mask and his companions entering the Oda Clan Residence under the subservient gazes of the guards. Word quickly spread, and the players started a commotion in an attempt to follow them into the mysterious residence. However, the guards instantly put on their chilling gazes and denied entry to anyone else.

“So you woke up.” Oda Nobunaga showed a gentle smile.

If any of his enemies saw him right now, they’d probably die from shock. This expression hardly belonged to the Devil of the Sixth Heaven; he was no different from an amiable middle-aged man. 

“Yes.” Drako Yau paid no heed to the fact that he was conversing with a person of higher status. He simply sat down and made himself at home while his companions stood behind, not daring to act as casual as he did.

“Ohoho, what are you all doing? Have a seat. Noh, serve some tea, please.”

“Yes, Sir Oda.” Lady Noh beamed, her smile all the more charming. Resolving the Akechi incident had put her in a good mood, apparently.

“How is your body faring?”

“What are the rewards?”

Oda Nobunaga and Drako Yau spoke at the same time. His companions, who were looking for a place to sit down, all stiffened, apart from Danting who sent an admiring gaze at him.

This is our boss indeed! Always going straight to the point!

Even Oda Nobunaga was taken aback, but knowing Drako Yau’s personality, he laughed it off and shook his head.

“You little fella…”

Meanwhile, Drako Yau saw nothing embarrassing in requesting the rewards. Although he liked Oda Nobunaga’s villainous character, he wasn’t ready to sacrifice himself for him.

Staged encounter quests were the most difficult among all encounter quests. Hardly anyone except the top elites of the Eastern server could clear the way through the Akechi army for Oda Nobunaga, let alone deal with enemy players on Akechi’s side. Only three squads were capable of clearing this quest among the entire server.

“Very well, I’ll give them out now.”

The pleasant sound of the system’s notification rang in their heads.

“Congratulations, you have cleared the quest, Final Vengeance. You have received three levels and five skill points. Relationship with the Oda clan is now ‘Allies for Life’.”

“As your relationship with the Oda clan is ‘Allies for Life’, you now have the authority to mobilise 1,000 Oda soldiers, anytime, anywhere. Cooldown: 3 days.”

Drako Yau couldn’t contain his delight upon hearing the notification. He held his fists tightly and thought, Finally! Level 42!

The three levels propelled him from Level 39 to Level 42. In other words, he could now learn the final two Level 40 skills of the Godly Spearmaster class! As all Level 40 skills were considered a class’ ultimate skill, they had to be particularly powerful. He was excited at just the thought of acquiring those skills.

The authority to command Oda soldiers wasn’t that appealing. Unlike the previous clan war with Dark World, the upcoming battles he had to face would be of a much larger scale.
