Game’s Dogma

Chapter 334: Level 38 Skill

As for his commanding tone, it had to do with his identity in both the game and the actual world. He was previously chairman of a reputable company, and now he was master of Dragon Alliance, with over a hundred thousand players under his wing. Dominance had long seeped into his bones; he gave off the aura of a leader passively.

Drako Yau started raising his level. He had already reached the bottleneck in levelling up a while back; he was stuck at Level 37 for a good while, and his Scrollcrafter subclass was just a slither away from Level 5.

As new skills were available at Level 38, he was rather looking forward to it. The basic classes unlocked new skills at Level 28, but the threshold was raised to Level 38 for the three godly classes. This usually suggested that the skills were too powerful that they had to be unlocked at a later stage to prevent upsetting the balance of the game.

Although Drako Yau was enjoying his sweet time levelling up without a care for anything else, many players from the East didn’t share his sentiment; the previous battle placed huge pressure on the notable elites of the East.

They could vision how powerful the West was from its miniature army. The orderly spell casting by mages, strict discipline, well-executed formations, everything was a rare sight in a game. Even Hades, who had once boasted excellent command of his troops in other games, could hardly imagine how this was possible on such a large scale.

The Eastern server paled in comparison to their Western counterparts in almost every way possible. As such, every faction leader was ushering players under their wing to level up as quickly as possible.

The storm was about to arrive; this rare chance to catch their breaths might not last very long.

Drako Yau thrust his spear and slew the giant scorpion before him.

A notification popped up. “Level up!”

He let out a sigh as he thought, I’m finally Level 38. He could hardly call it “catching up”, but a level closer was progress nonetheless. Anyways, he clicked open his skill tree in anticipation.

What skill will I get?

“Level 38 Godly Spearmaster skill, Advanced Grasp of Ice and Fire: Increases grasp of ice and fire greatly.”

What the hell is that? This stupid skill is the one I’ve been looking forward to all this time?

Then he remembered. The skill he first learnt after changing his class to Godly Spearmaster was Elementary Grasp of Ice and Fire. After briefly pondering, Drako Yau ended up learning it anyway as it was the only option.

Pzzt…

A nearly inaudible buzz shook his head. Soon, he felt something was off. He quickly plucked out a palm-sized object from his item bag. On closer inspection, it was a tiny house.

Drako Yau tossed it into the air, and it expanded rapidly before holding its own as a large tent with golden flaps and gold-forged tent poles. He immediately entered it; the space around him twisted into swirls.

Things quickly settled down. What was originally a five-by-five-metre large tent contained a mansion. With a height of a dozen metres, the mansion was well segregated and had a spiral staircase that led to the second floor, which housed at least six rooms at first glance.

This was the treasure he had exchanged for with over 30,000 Merit after The Siege event—Travelling Palace!

He had only used it several times since obtaining it because the Home system was published soon after. He’d return to his home whenever he needed to rest in the city. However, things changed after he entered the Warring Wastelands. Its alarm system was especially useful; players in it would receive alerts and would be woken up if asleep when enemies trespassed into its proximity.  It also had a defence system that could block ten attacks regardless of damage inflicted. Neither monster nor player could kill him swiftly as long as he was in it.

Drako Yau trod a familiar path into one of the rooms and sat down with his legs crossed, sensing the changes taking place within him. He noticed something going on in his body the moment he learnt Advanced Grasp of Ice and Fire.

He frowned in an attempt to find the suitable vocabulary to describe the weird feeling.

Hmmm, what is this… Some sort of alternate Frost Form?

The principle of Frost Form was enhanced senses, which also enhanced the mind to allow extraordinary analytical ability. His eyes could see further, his sense of smell was more sensitive, and he could even detect where a breeze was coming from.

Now, he was experiencing a Frost Form that affected the mind. In the past, he could only feel the forces in his body. The elemental forces of ice and fire were derived from the Vitality Mantra, but what was the source of the Vitality Mantra’s powers?

This time, he could distinctively feel the particles of energy floating in the surrounding air. A myriad of complex energies existed all around him, though he could only detect the powers of ice and fire in particular. The yin-yang symbol within him spun like a whirlpool, absorbing the levitating energy into him and converting them for him to use. It was a never-ending cycle.

Advanced Grasp of Ice and Fire… Increased grasp of ice and fire greatly, was it?

Drako Yau extended a finger. A tiny flame sprouted from his fingertip. He opened up his palm, and the flame started moving like a fire spirit. It danced between his five fingertips, gaining speed as it dashed back and forth.

His eyes lit up at the exciting discovery. Suddenly, he thrust his palm out. The flame shot out like an arrow. Just before it struck a wall, he clamped his hand into a fist—the flame halted along with his motion.

That’s it! So I’ve gained sensitivity to my powers?

Drako Yau could still recall the attempts he had made after asking Fatty the Castellan for advice. He tried exerting his internal forces into a flame, which he succeeded, but it disappeared whenever it was several centimetres away. However, his control range was now several metres, not to mention his total command of the flame!

Ever since he entered the game, Drako Yau had been constantly improving.

His discussion with Fatty enlightened him to the categorisation of cultivation styles. He then decided that the Cryoflame style was an enhancement style; it had indeed been enhancing him before the yin-yang symbol even took shape. Even now, the Cryoflame style’s main effects were Frost Form and Flame Form, both of which were self enhancements. It developed in such a direction because he could hardly use it for attacks when his flames extinguished just a few centimetres away from him.

The explosive form he used in the fight against Butcherer was an evolved version of Frost Form and Flame Form. When fluid was heated to its boiling point, it’d boil and turn into its gaseous state. The same applied to his internal forces and was in fact the principle behind the explosive state.

Which was why he named it Boiling Form.
