Chapter 322: Lightning and Bullets
“You really chose the wrong time for this.” Zeus blocked the shadow behind him. His shadow couldn’t wait to put down Windstrider who dared to taunt him, but he stopped his shadow—because he would do it himself. “I’m thrilled, very much so. And things don’t end well for my enemies when I’m in this state.”
“You think too much. It can’t get any worse than dying.” Windstrider smiled as he pulled the trigger.
Bam! Bam! Two Repelling Shot from Dual Magazine.
“It can’t get any worse than dying… I like that.”
A green glow flashed around Zeus. As agile as a breeze, he was gone in an instant.
A flash of lightning struck the ground in front of Windstrider, barely missing him as it grazed his hair. He paid no heed to it and leapt into the air. His guns kept firing constantly while he spun in the air like a graceful dancer, contrasted by the storm of raging bullets that spread out in a circle.
Noh Firearms Marksmanship, Blazing Guns.
“Oh? An interesting inheritance.”
Zeus reappeared five metres away from him, just out of Blazing Guns’ range. He wasn’t frustrated though; he could tell the enemy was powerful, and that didn’t bother him either.
Still gotta fight even if I’m no match for the enemy.
His guns were pointed in different directions. An Explosive Shot to the top and a Freezing Shot to the legs, he fired different skills simultaneously from his two guns. After learning Dual-Wielding Rifle Mastery, this had been his trademark technique that troubled many enemies. Paired with his attack range, speed, Noh Firearms Marksmanship, and Gunfighting style, he fought like a ranged warrior.
But Zeus completely ignored the burst of skills unfolding before his eyes. He simply held his lance in one hand and shrouded it in lightning. The masked man killed Butcherer in one hit, so he naturally should repay the favour. The lightning strike just now was no more than a probing attack, and he was no longer interested in probing the gunman’s strength.
Man and lance vanished from the spot. He charged towards Windstrider in a flash of blue lightning.
The attack was too quick for Windstrider to evade, and before he noticed, half of his Health was gone from the graze on his chest. He didn’t have time to be surprised as Zeus had already turned around and was charging at him once again.
Speed was unrivalled in combat since the enemy couldn’t even react. Now, Zeus was suppressing Windstrider with speed alone. Five flashes of lightning, five crackles of thunder, and five swift charges—a star of lightning bound Windstrider in its centre.
Zeus put away his lance because the outcome had already been decided. He turned around and walked across the platform to accept the next trial.
Click. Clang!
A bullet struck Zeus’ armour from behind, halting his stride and making him turn around.
The click was the sound of pulling a trigger. The clang was from the bullet ricocheting against the ground.
The pentagram of lightning was the Level 35 Godly Spearmaster skill, Lightning Starfield. The caster would form a force field around the enemy through five quick charges with the effect of immobilising the enemy. The idea that it was a control skill was a huge mistake; its damage was its most terrifying aspect. The five charges alone could kill most players.
However, Windstrider survived, albeit barely. Unable to move his body, he wriggled his wrist and twitched his fingers just enough to point his gun to the ground and pull the trigger. The bullet struck the ground and rebounded onto Zeus.
Windstrider was in no panic despite being immobilised. Rather, he grinned and said, “Look, my shot struck you.”
Zeus raised his hand in silence and tightened it into a fist. The lightning pentagram trembled, stirring up a raging storm in the sky. Lightning shot up from the nodes and formed lightning balls that bombarded and destroyed everything within range. This was no skill; it was Zeus’ command over lightning that caused this attack.
Windstrider was dead.
However, Zeus stood still where he was. He turned his head to look at the shallow dent on his armour from the bullet.
His shadow, having read his thoughts, approached him and said, “Sir, please do not be concerned about that shot. That person was a decent fighter. He dodged one of the five charges, so he survived Lightning Starfield.”
“Do you think I can’t see that myself?” Zeus put his hands on his waist with a complicated look. “It seems the East isn’t as incompetent as we have assumed.”
The shadow lowered his head in silence. He was one of the Three Kings, yet he couldn’t quite agree with Zeus’ opinion. Still, he kept those thoughts to himself.
Zeus smiled. “I know you have bad blood with those from the East, but try to keep private matters from affecting your objective judgement. While the East lacks unity, their individual strengths aren’t bad at all. The man with the wolf at the entrance and the dual gun wielder just now can probably rank around the Five Palaces on our server.”
“But sir, that’s the point.” The shadow couldn’t hide his taunting tone. “They’re only good individually. How can they fight against our Olympus?”
“Let’s go, we should take this Holy Ground first.” Zeus chuckled and ended their conversation.
The war between himself and the masked man was a personal matter. As the Divine King of the East, he also had to bear the responsibility of leading Olympus. This tower was his for the taking.
Drako Yau walked ahead on his own.
Dakki trailed behind him while sending gazes at his back. The noises and flashes from the battle with Butcherer had reached all the way down the stairs. Although she was curious, she held it back and didn’t peek. She knew she wasn’t qualified for a battle of such calibre, nor did Drako Yau request her buff. He might look like a dork, but she could tell he was a prideful one deep down, so she didn’t interfere with what he did.
Luck finally showed them mercy. After completing the trial, they were teleported to the staircase that led to the tenth floor, meaning they only had one more trial to go on.
Instead of a platform, the tenth floor consisted of a long corridor covered in red carpet that led to a large door. When Drako Yau looked towards the door, he was caught completely off-guard.
He wouldn’t be so surprised even if Zeus showed up in front of him right now. However, the sight of that particular person startled him; he had never expected to meet this person at such a place.
The person didn’t seem to notice Drako Yau and Dakki’s footsteps. When they were close enough, Drako Yau said, “Brother Yip.”
The man turned around. The look on his face suggested that he had gone through a lot to reach here.
“Oh, it’s you.”
The man was someone who once shook the Eastern server—Yip Ku-sing!
