Chapter 309: Treading Flowers in the Wasteland
Drako Yau shook his head despite having so many hidden techniques. His Empyreal Dragon Step was powerful, but it was limited to movements on the horizontal plane, unlike Hibiscus who could walk in the air. First was Flower Plucking Finger, then came the mysterious footwork that allowed him to walk in the air; Hibiscus was a greater foe than Drako Yau had expected.
Hibiscus didn’t stop attacking in the air. As his clothes wavered along with his movements, he flicked his fingers repeatedly, summoning a rain of aura bursts upon this dry land. The blasts peppered the ground without hitting Drako Yau once and left behind finger-sized holes.
Hibiscus stayed in the air with Drako Yau left powerless on the ground without an effective ranged attack. His only ranged options were Dragon Capturing Hand, Frozen Strike, and Life and Death Charm which he forbade himself from using.
While Dragon Capturing Hand had powerful effects, it took time to cast and was easily noticeable. The attack wasn’t too difficult to evade when noticed. Frozen Strike had quicker cast speed, but the fist-sized projectile could hardly hit Hibiscus who was flashing across the sky like an aerial ninja.
Drako Yau could only stay on the defensive passively without a way to retaliate. He didn’t like getting caught in such a situation, but there wasn’t much he could do. He simply stayed calm and vigilant in wait for an opportunity.
Dakki was no weakling as the bearer of the hidden class Dancer; it’d be a major mistake to think she could only support her allies. However, watching the fight unfolding before her eyes shattered her confidence.
Either one of them could easily defeat her in battle. Her strength which she took pride in was worthless before them.
Hibiscus’ storm of finger auras was swift and powerful, with the holes in the ground proving their power. Drako Yau, while seemingly at a disadvantage, scurried back and forth so quickly that even the quick blasts had failed to score a single hit on him. Being able to remain calm and evade all those strikes just went to show how great his footwork was.
With one on the hunt and the other on the run, they were both putting their strengths on full display.
“Someone’s fighting, two of them.” A person lifted his head to look in a particular direction.
“How strong are they?” the person beside him with short, red hair asked.
He tried to lift his glasses only to realise he didn’t have one in the game, so he closed his eyes as if deep in thought. Moments later, he widened his eyes, this time with fear in them.
“Very strong!” he answered.
Clearly dissatisfied with the answer, the red-haired person chided, “How strong is ‘very strong’?”
“Um… On the level of the Three Gods…”
“Cheh,” the red-haired person snickered. “You’re probably too nervous, or have you gone too long without detecting someone that your judgement’s off? Just what sort of existence do you think the Three Gods are? Ya think they’re so common that you’d find them everywhere, two at once no less?”
The other person’s freckled face paled in fury as he refuted, “You’re insulting my professionality! I am not mistaken!”
“Right, right.” The red-haired person scratched his nose and continued, “The Three Gods won’t fight among themselves, so if you’re telling the truth, they can only be from the East server.”
The freckled person changed the direction he was headed for instead of replying with words. He started walking towards the fight instead of the mysterious structure in the distance.
“Hey, hey, where are you going?”
“I do not make such mistakes.”
“Alright alright, you’re right. Let’s go, in-fighting among the guys from the East has nothing to do with us.”
“You don’t trust me. I am proving it to you now.”
“Ugh… Why are you like this?”
The freckled young man stubbornly walked towards where Hibiscus and Drako Yau were fighting with the red-haired person trailing behind him.
A person was stirring up large clouds of mist with sparks scattered throughout the ground, laying the desolate land with sparkles. Another person was traversing the sky, forming levitating flowers with every step he took. The clash between them was beyond the level of merely a game.
Suddenly, the two of them came to a halt. The mist slowly dissipated while the flowers turned stagnant in the air.
“Someone’s coming.”
“Indeed.”
The two peered at the distant fight. It was an intense battle with flowers blooming in the sky and mist that contained sparks covering the land, all of which contained so much power that they sent terrorising waves of aura all the way to where the two were.
They were dumbfounded by disbelief, especially the freckled person.
“Told you I wasn’t lying…” the freckled person said with a trembling voice, though he sounded proud as well.
The red-haired person hauled him up onto his shoulders without replying and immediately fled the scene. As soon as he did, the sea of flowers and mist immediately came to life and closed in on him at a frightening speed. He cursed as he peeked behind him; there was no way he could outrun the pursuers.
He threw the freckled person forwards in desperation and yelled, “Run! I’ll delay them!”
Knowing this wasn’t the time to be sentimental, the freckled person got onto his feet and ran with all his might. Meanwhile, his companion put on his gloves and murmured, “Opponents as powerful as the Three Gods… Two of them at once… Being a rearguard is tough, huh…”
Mist charged towards him like a dragon while a sea of flowers formed above him, and amidst the dragon was a crimson shadow that harboured the scent of blood. The red-haired young man shuddered at the sight.
Their auras are scary!
He grit his teeth, plucked a large piece of rock, and threw it at the crimson shadow. It was easily deflected with a clang as the crimson shadow thrust its spear and knocked it away without slowing down at all.
“Come at me!” The red-haired young man showed a wild grin and stepped forwards with a punch.
He had the hidden class Hooligan, a class which shone in close range melee combat. The ordinary-looking punch was in fact a skill—Eye Jab. The enemy would be rendered blind for three seconds if his punch landed on their face.
The crimson figure paid no heed to the punch and thrust his flaming spear with great force, countering the incoming attack with an attack of his. The red-haired young man cursed again; the spear thrust had superbly sealed off his attack routes, let alone striking the face.
Screw it! I’m going all-out!
A red glow radiated from the hooligan as he did not attempt to dodge the spear. After less than three exchanges of blows, he already used his class’ ultimate skill—Level 40 Hooligan skill, Street Fighter!
