Chapter 112: Chapter-109
Accompanied by a whistling sound, a young man drove up in his vehicle, Droso.
"Hi! Who is Burgundy Romance?" he asked, poking his head out of the window.
Merlin glanced at Natasha, whose hair had a striking burgundy hue, and said nothing.
"It's me!" Natasha admitted awkwardly, tucking her hair behind her ears and raising her hand.
The young man noticed Merlin and the others. His eyes widened as he recognized some of the faces.
"Oh my God! Punisher, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Cat in a Suit… and Little NPCs."
Merlin rolled his eyes at the nickname. Ever since the Lizard Incident, people had labeled him "Little NPC" due to his central role in the main plotline. While he had tried to establish the title City Light through his heroic actions and innovations, the nickname stuck, partly because of his habit of showing up without a hood or mystique.
"Is Iron Man with you guys?" the young man asked excitedly as he handed over the hemolytic agent.
"No, we didn't act together," Merlin replied.
Natasha, noticing the golden tattoo on the back of the young man's hand, changed the topic. "Are you from the Holy Light Judgment?"
"Yes! I'm just a delivery guy right now, though." The young man proudly displayed his tattoo.
Holy Light Judgment was a major guild in the Liberty City service area, famed for its exploits in platform games. They were the first to light a signal flare in Los Santos, cementing their reputation.
"We've all heard of you," Natasha acknowledged. "Anyone who's played platform games knows about Holy Light Judgment."
"Glad to hear it!" The young man grinned. After collecting a few signatures, he left quickly.
Not long after, a post appeared on the offline forums, revealing the location of the alien lair. In Los Santos, Holy Light Judgment players began mobilizing toward the site to brush the BOSS.
"We need to move quickly," Natasha said, stroking the red spider perched on her shoulder. "Once too many players arrive, this place will turn into chaos."
"Should we wait for Stark and the others? They're only a few minutes away," Merlin asked.
"No, let's go ahead and let them catch up," Punisher suggested, inspecting his rugged silver ballistic dagger.
"Fine. But let's test this hemolytic agent first," Natasha replied, opening the supply box. Inside were thirty vials of the agent and a tranquilizer-like firearm designed to deliver it.
Loading a vial into the gun, Natasha approached the restrained Deadpool alien.
"Whoosh!"
The agent shot out, piercing the alien's dark red silicone-like skin. As the chemical was injected, the alien let out a deafening screech. Its thrashing grew violent, forcing Hellcat to strain against its corrosive body.
Moments later, the screams faded, and the alien's body liquefied, leaving only a hard silicide skull.
"Well, it works," Natasha observed. "But you have to aim for the vulnerable areas."
Carefully securing the remaining vials, the team advanced into the dark cave, leaving Stark and Rhodes instructions to catch up.
The group adopted a defensive formation: Hellcat, Duke, and Saint took the lead; John and Punisher followed; Natasha was shielded in the center, with Tyrant flanking her. Hawkeye and Merlin guarded the rear, while the Predator remained poised with its silver darts and shoulder cannon.
Suddenly, a roar echoed through the vast tunnel. Alien worker bees, resembling oversized ants, crawled out of the darkness, their ferocious mouthparts snapping as they charged.
"Boom!"
"Whoosh!"
"Da-da-da…"
Energy pulses, plasma blasts, and arrows lit up the once-dark tunnel as the group unleashed their arsenal.
With the final alien worker bee dispatched by Saint's shotgun blast, the tunnel fell eerily silent.
"These things are weak," Saint muttered, kicking a worker bee's corpse.
"They're just the producers," Natasha noted, crouching to examine the alien remains. "This confirms it—we're in the heart of the nest."
Punisher tossed a flare, the magnesium light illuminating the tunnel ahead. The team winced as the glow revealed countless alien eggs, coated in mucus and towering like grotesque sentinels.
Suddenly, a facehugger burst from an egg, lunging for Punisher.
"Thwack!"
With lightning speed, Punisher intercepted it, his silver blade impaling the creature before flinging it away.
"Damn sneaky little monsters!" Saint cursed, his eyes scanning the hive for more threats. "No wonder their boss is so nasty."
