Chapter 22: Hype!
Rainbow light cascaded lucidly over gilded golden fixtures and architecture amidst the primal but contained movement of energy within the crystalline floor below. Electrical thrumming resounded deeply throughout the chamber as a singular sword was embedded into a raised golden dais, as if a splinter in a wounded foot.
Particles of exotic matter swam serenely amongst the utter stillness and silence. These miniscule diodes of extreme reality bathed the entire chamber, but more so than that, it clung to a figure who stood like a statue in front of a conical wormhole entrance. Radiant golden eyes sparked with divine power but also several hints of the same exotic elements that permeated the entire space.
Rainbow light cast prismatic shadows along this man's features, exemplifying the rigidness of his posture, jawline and character. Horned helm on his head, the shadow fought constantly with the ever shining, ever blooming light of this man's presence. Ebony skin glimmered almost bronze as the prismatic beams stretched longingly up his figure intermittently. Garbed in glorious golden armour, the man stood without sword, staring at the entrance patiently, as if expecting someone within any period of time.
As if to prove his waiting correct, the spatial rift of pure energy wavered, shifted and then flashed. Hammer slipped from spatial womb, lightning wreathing its path as soon behind it was a golden haired man of hefty musculature and stature. Silver armour covered almost every part of his body and on his back hung a royal red cape of the finest materials.
"Hahaha! Heimdal! It is always a pleasure!"
The man stepped forwards and held out his arm for the gold-armoured man to clasp. No emotion was evident in the waiting man's face as he nodded, taking it before turning around and walking towards the sword.
"Prince. I trust your campaign has been fruitful?"
"Yes Heimdal! Very successful! The people of Vanaheim will no longer be fearing raids from pirates in the coming months, weeks, or years!"
"Good."
Heimdal stopped in front of his sword and waited, more flashes following after the boisterous princeling. The companions all running up to the side of the prince.
"Thor! HAHAHA, that was a fight worthy of a ginormous feast!"
"If you eat anymore, you may not be capable of fighting in future Volstagg."
The burly, thick bearded, red headed warrior turned to the lithe figure with a thin blonde moustache, his eyes narrowing as his right hand tensed on his double handed war-axe.
"You willing to put that to the test, Fandral?"
Before both men could continue in their duel, a woman dressed in silver armour punched the two in the stomach, their exhales of breath following as she perfectly scored them in the diaphragm. Passing by them she came towards Heimdal who was now picking clean the dais of his sword.
"Heimdal! Greetings..."
"Greetings, lady Sif."
"Any news from the nine realms?"
The sword was pulled cleanly from the receptacle as the portal closed and the Bifrost slowly closed down, the rainbow light pulsing backwards and forwards along the rainbow bridge.
"There is a stirring somewhere on Midgard. My sight cannot comprehend exactly what it is, but there is someone, or something, related to Valhalla."
"Shall we go an find out what this is!?"
Thor stepped forwards brandishing Mjolnir in hand as a wander-lusted grin curled on his face.
"Unfortunately that is not for me to decide, my prince... Besides that, your father requests you and your brother's presence in the throne room."
A green illusion broke in the room as a resplendently adorned man dressed with green silks and golden armour pieces walked up beside Thor, a cheeky grin permanently plastered to his mischievous face. He held a hooked staff of gold and unknown metals that served as some form of focus for his powers.
"Come now brother, we can't keep father waiting..."
"Loki! How have you been brother?"
"Bored, mostly, there is only so much sorcery you can learn from the Vanir and Aesir combined. I am afraid my scholarly inclinations may lead me off towards Midgard or any of the other mystical locations in this galaxy."
Thor frowned.
"Well, do not make hasty decisions... Perhaps there is something interesting on Midgard that we can both find. If what Heimdal has said is to come true."
Loki turned to the stalwart guard of their father's domain, the gatekeeper and watcher of all the nine realms.
"Is that so...? Well, I would be lying if I said I were not intrigued... Let us be off then."
He swept his green cloak behind him whilst winking playfully at Sif, almost earning him a sword wound as she rose her weapon in response. Thor followed suit as his companions spoke to Heimdal more, readying to set off back to their homesteads, or the feast halls.
Two ravens watching the sons of Odin from a distance as golden light suffused every single aspect of this golden city...
...
On Midgard, or Earth, however, there was complete shock spreading through culture and the internet as the creator of one of the most popular games of all time was now sharing a trailer for her next game.
*"The Sith Empire has returned!"*
A man with horns in his head stared out at a massive armada of cruisers and battleships, hundreds and thousands of star-fighters launching from he hangers of said Sith ships.
Damian, Ned, Alucard, Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark and many, many more people were currently glued to their screens as the story of the animatic played out before them. A Jedi Master and his Padawan fighting alongside a soldier and a criminal, all to survive an unprovoked attack by an enemy force known simply as the 'Sith Empire'.
The story was shocking, the technology jarring in how rugged but advanced it was... The themes and tones heroic but also menacing in a way.
"Father, do you think this will be VR as well?"
"Based off the technology in Fallout. Yes."
"It looks, cool..."
"Mmmm... We shall see... This is completely foreign to me as a concept."
Dramatic orchestral music began playing as an ominous black ship entered into the hanger bay of the escaping 'heroes'. Dark and foreboding tones were omnipresent and further stimulated as the smuggler and the soldier rushed around inside the ship to get everything started; after seeing the ship land.
Two figures emerged from the lowered ramp of the enemy ship. A masked man dressed completely in black, and a pale white man with robotic armour looming down towards the spiked-headed man and his female 'sidekick'.
Their light-swords turning on as the two enemies charged at them. What followed was some of the most badassery that many had never seen before. Realism was observed for this fight, unlike most of the Star Wars universe. Lethality was almost always a requirement in Sith fighting, the Jedi weren't as violent, but neither were they naïve... They traded lethality for another tactic, wounding and debilitation.
Acrobatic displays of front flips, jumps, twists and slides were displayed by both sides as they all parried, prodded and slashed at their foes. Then came the force powers. Lightning washed out from the masked Sith's hands towards the spiked-headed Jedi, the light-sword catching it and deflecting it towards the Sith's own ally.
Force pushes, force speed, force jumps, force leaps... many aspects of the force were shown in this fight as eventually the ship was starting to take off, a lull coming to the fight between the Sith and Jedi.
*"C'MON!!!"*
*"Go Satele. You must walk a different path."*
He started to step away from his female 'sidekick' and head towards the two Sith.
*"Master...!"*
She threw her light-sword towards him; not turned on, as he leapt upwards, grabbed it and began to enter the fray once more. Duel wielding the 'swords' he started to face both Sith down in 2v1. His 'sidekick'; Padawan, running and leaping up debris to enter into the escaping ship, the soldier grabbing her soon after, pulling her up and into the space-ship. They rammed into the ship the Sith had come in on and fled out the open hanger bay, into space. Taking position in the gun-pods of the ship they began their battle to flee.
Going back to the duel the Jedi left behind was evenly matching the two Sith, slapping one away with a significant charge of his enemy's own lightning ability. Then proceeding to block one or two more strikes before cutting off the mask of his foe... Revealing a malice-filled red face with beady yellow-orange eyes, an alien face. He growled before the scene once again switch to the space combat, the turrets on the spaceship firing fully at the sith star-fighters, dodging between asteroids and detritus. One more it switched as the fighting between Jedi and Sith continued, the combat becoming dirty and powerful.
A block here, a parry there, the burning of skin from mild exposure to their weapons... One sith was launched off into the distant hanger, the master Sith and the master Jedi facing off 1v1 in sword duelling. Shunted to the right, the Sith tried a kick. Kick blocked by a force push, only to be responded to with a direct attack from the Sith's weapon. Deflected once again, sending the Sith off guard... Then a final crisp slashing kata that was unblockable and lead to the Jedi's weapon being buried deep into the Sith's stomach.
The other sith stood back up, pulling his master's weapon from his hands with the force. Grasping the extra weapon, he did a duelling pose and began walking forwards. The Jedi master began lifting large pieces of scrap metal, launching them at his opponent. All to nil however, as the angered sith Juggernaut carved through the metal with his 'light swords', one after another until the last massive chunks was blown to pieces and he leapt at the remaining Jedi.
A light sword from overhead bearing down towards the Jedi's neck only to be deflected. Parry was turned into force as the Sith took his second sword and slashed it up towards his enemy. Deflected more desperately this time as the Jedi retreated on his back foot. The first blade parried came back and destroyed one of the light swords the Jedi carried, leaving him with only a singular blade left.
Emphatic and desperate deflections, parries and melee was had until the overbearing speed and power of two blades proceed too much for the Jedi to handle... His fate now split in twain...
The rest of the video was of the Jedi's 'sidekick' feeling the loss and moving on, the remaining people fleeing away from the attack. A scene explaining the world of Korriban as the birthplace of the sith and the subsequent beheading of the Sith Apprentice's master.
...
"FUCK YEAH...! I want this shit so, so, so, so, so,sososososo BAD!" Alucard yelled at his computer screen as the Police Girl stared at him oddly, confused as to why her master was so excited.
"Father, we're getting this yeah?"
"Yes son."
Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne watched until the last few seconds, the company logo; that of an artistic interpretation of Yggdrasil, showing up at the last with a simple line of text: Made by Yggdrasil Interactive.
"I'm going to invest in that company."
"I'll join you in that."
...
"Jarvis... Give me all the information on Yggdrasil Interactive."
"Yes sir, here is all of the information... It seems to be a recently made company..."
Tony Stark smiled as he watched the video start replaying again, his brain ticking away at several ideas in relation to this new company and its' games.
"Natasha? Any information pertaining to Yggdrasil Interactive yet?"
"No director, they haven't fired a single person yet... As it is they have no office building yet... From what I can gather from the consultant, Tarken."
"Any description of who he met with?"
"None, she was the most basic and unseeming woman in the world apparently and that would seem to be the case for the camera footage as well..."
"What do you mean...?"
"The footage is blurred beyond belief when she entered into the building. Weirdest part of it is the footage was fine before then..."
Silence reigned for a few moments.
"So, she had powers..."
"It would seem likely director."
"Maintain a beat on that consultancy, make sure he doesn't inform her of anything. I want you to redouble your efforts to be hired to that company... I don't care if you have to give yourself the best qualifications, I want inside that company."
The phone was hung up from Natasha's end as a beautiful woman with black and white hair stepped into the consultancy, her eyes glowing just a little bit as a faint golden glow could faintly be seen in the recesses of her jacket...
'... Is this, who i think it is...?'
