Chapter 29: Silver Haired Guy - Vali Lucifer

Izashi's smirk was sharp and confident as he leaned back in his chair, watching Koneko's reaction closely. Her innocent, yet fierce eyes glared up at him, full of a mix of confusion and frustration. She was trying to piece together what he had just implied about her sister, Kuroka.

"Okay then," Izashi began with a smug tone, leaning forward slightly. "If Kuroka was really so eager to test her strength, why didn't she go after one of the Maou? If she really wanted to see how powerful she'd become, then the logical move would've been to challenge some of the strongest devils around, don't you think? So why is it that there aren't any reports of her hunting down an Ultimate-Class Devil?"

Koneko bit her lip, feeling a mixture of annoyance and uncertainty. Izashi's logic was annoyingly sound, but there was a part of her that refused to believe what he was suggesting. "Maybe she knew her limits back then?" she retorted, though even as she said it, doubt was creeping into her mind.

Izashi chuckled softly, reaching out to ruffle her white hair playfully. "Aww, little Koneko-chan is so adorably naive, believing everything her sister says without question. No matter how ridiculous it sounds."

Koneko's eyes narrowed in irritation, a hint of anger flashing across her usually calm face. She crossed her arms defiantly, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "How is it ridiculous? You think you know my sister better than I do?"

Izashi's smile didn't waver. If anything, it grew more amused. "Didn't you just say she wanted to test her power? If she already knew her limits, what's the point of testing herself? Think about it, Koneko-chan. Maybe, just maybe, there was another reason she killed her master."

He left those words hanging in the air, letting them sink into Koneko's mind. Without another word, Izashi stood up and walked away, leaving Koneko alone with her thoughts. The seed of doubt had been planted, and now it would grow, festering inside her mind until she began to question everything she thought she knew about her sister.

As he walked away, Izashi couldn't help but smirk to himself. Everything was falling into place perfectly. Koneko would now be consumed with thoughts about Kuroka, doubting her motives and actions. And that was just the first step in his plan. The next phase was already set in motion, revolving around Issei and his interactions with Asia.

Izashi was confident that Issei had already taken Asia to the church and had likely returned to the Occult Research Club by now. As he entered the clubroom, he noticed everyone gathered together, their expressions tense and serious. Rias stood in the center, her crimson hair cascading down her back, her usual playful demeanor replaced with a rare look of concern.

"Hey everyone, what's going on? Why is everyone gathered up like this?" Izashi asked casually, though his sharp eyes quickly took in the situation.

Rias glanced at him, her expression serious and her voice firm. "Izashi-kun, we've received a request to take down a stray devil."

Izashi raised an eyebrow in mild surprise. "Oh, a stray devil, huh? What's the threat level?"

Rias's tone was flat as she responded, "It's classified as a C-Class stray, but it's nearing B-Class."

Izashi held up a hand, stopping her from saying anything further. "I see. Well, I think you can handle that on your own, Rias. Take your new servant with you. It'll be a good opportunity for him to see how everyone fights and learn about their strengths."

Rias nodded, her expression thoughtful as she considered his suggestion. "That's what I planned to do anyway. Are you coming with us?"

Izashi shook his head, his smile returning. "No, not this time. I've got some things to take care of, and there's someone I need to meet."

Rias didn't press him for details, simply nodding in understanding. "Alright. We'll take care of it and be back as soon as possible."

Akeno, always playful, winked at Izashi with a teasing smile. "Don't worry, Izashi-kun. We'll finish off that stray devil quickly and be back before you know it. Just wait for me, okay?"

Izashi winked back, his voice light and playful. "I'll be waiting. Don't keep me waiting too long, Akeno-chan."

As Rias began to form the magic circle that would teleport her peerage members, Izashi walked over to Issei, who was standing off to the side, looking a bit nervous. Leaning in close, Izashi whispered into his ear, his voice low and dangerous. "Listen up, Issei. If you so much as glance at Rias or Akeno in a perverted way during this mission, I'll personally make sure you regret it. Understand?"

Issei stiffened, a cold sweat forming on his forehead as he nodded rapidly. "Y-Yes, Izashi-senpai! I won't do anything weird, I promise!"

Izashi's eyes narrowed, his tone icy. "Good. Remember what I said."

Issei could only nod again, too terrified to even think about protesting. After dying once, he wasn't keen on experiencing anything similar anytime soon, especially not at the hands of someone as intimidating as Izashi. His thoughts drifted back to the blonde-haired girl he had met earlier—Asia. He wondered how she was doing at the church and couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over him when he approached the place. Maybe it was just a side effect of becoming a devil, but the church had felt… dangerous.

Once Rias and the others had teleported away, Izashi's expression turned serious. He left the clubroom, his mind already focused on the task ahead. He took to the skies, flying high above the city, his sharp eyes scanning the ground below as he searched for a specific presence.

Suddenly, his gaze locked onto something in the distance. Without hesitation, Izashi sped toward it, his body slicing through the air at incredible speed. After a minute of high-velocity flight, he came to a sudden stop, hovering in the air as he stared down at a figure standing below.

The person he had been searching for was there, a young man with striking silver hair that contrasted sharply with his black jacket and pants. He was dressed casually in a white t-shirt that highlighted his lean, muscular frame. Despite the cold, calculating aura that surrounded him, he exuded a quiet confidence that made it clear he was no ordinary opponent.

Izashi's voice was cold as he addressed the newcomer. "What are you doing here?"

The silver-haired man looked up at Izashi, his expression one of mild amusement as if he found the question entertaining. "Heh… you ask that as if you know me."

Izashi's eyes narrowed slightly, his tone unwavering. "Why wouldn't I know you, Vali Lucifer?"

The silver-haired young man, now identified as Vali, raised an eyebrow in genuine surprise. He hadn't expected Izashi to recognize him so quickly. "I was under the impression that you'd call me the Divine Dividing user, not by my name. I have to admit, I'm surprised you knew who I was. And here I thought I was flying under the radar."

Izashi's smirk returned, a hint of satisfaction in his eyes as he observed Vali's reaction. "I'm surprised you don't know who I am. I thought Azazel would have filled you in on everything, especially about the heir of the Gremory Clan."

Vali's interest was piqued as he listened to Izashi speak. The silver-haired Lucifer prodigy had heard whispers of a powerful young devil from Azazel, but he hadn't expected to encounter him like this. "Red hair and red eyes… you must be Izashi Gremory."

Izashi's smirk widened, pleased that Vali had connected the dots. He knew Vali must have heard about him from Azazel—after all, Azazel was known for keeping a close eye on the underworld, especially when it came to notable figures like Sirzechs' younger brother.

Vali's mind was racing, recalling the conversations he'd had with Azazel. The leader of the Grigori had often spoken about Izashi, mentioning him as a prodigy in magic, someone who could potentially surpass even his brother, Sirzechs. Azazel had always spoken highly of Izashi's abilities, and while Vali didn't fully believe all the hype, he was intrigued by the idea of facing someone who might actually challenge him.

Vali's lips curled into a small smile as he sized up Izashi. "Azazel spoke of you often. He seemed convinced that you might even surpass your brother someday. I have to admit, I'm curious to see if the rumors are true."

Izashi chuckled softly, his eyes gleaming with a mix of amusement and anticipation. "Is that so? Well, I'm glad to know I've caught your attention. But let me tell you something, Vali. I'm not interested in living up to anyone's expectations. I'm here to carve out my own path."

Vali's smile widened, a spark of excitement flickering in his eyes. "Interesting. I've been looking for someone who could give me a real challenge. It gets boring fighting weak opponents all the time. Maybe you'll be the one to finally make things interesting."

Izashi's expression mirrored Vali's as the anticipation of the fight built between them. He hadn't had a chance to really let loose since he was reborn into this world. Every opponent he had faced so far had either surrendered or been easily overwhelmed by his power. Even his mother, Venelana, had kept him from facing Ultimate-Class Devils, believing it was too dangerous. But now, standing before him was someone who could finally push him to his limits.

Izashi's cold smirk returned, his voice laced with challenge. "Let me guess. Azazel sent you here to investigate the powerful devil magic flares in this city, right? And I'm betting you were itching for a fight, so you convinced him to let you handle it."

Vali didn't bother denying it. "You got me. I came here looking for a good fight, and I think I've found it. But now that I've met you, it seems I'm in for more than I expected."

Izashi's eyes glinted with excitement. "Don't worry, Vali. You're not missing out on anything. I'm the one who's been flaring that devil magic."

Vali's expression didn't change, but his body tensed, preparing for the battle that was about to unfold. His wings, shimmering with a sky-blue light, unfurled behind him, and in an instant, he shot forward, aiming to land the first blow.
