From Soldier to Officer: A Game Addict s Journey

Chapter 35

Chapter 35

To be honest, while Ye Sanshi was sleeping, the recruits also wanted to crawl under their blankets as well. They were all extremely tired and sleepy.

At this point, some recruits felt the urge to cover Ye Sanshi with their blankets and suffocate him to death. However, this was just a feeling of resentment that they had toward their commanding officer.

Moreover, this wasn’t just happening in Class 5. From the corridor, Wang Ye could see that recruits from all the squads on the second floor were holding their blankets and pressing them outside.

It was a grueling process that required them to stay awake and press the blanket down. The overwhelming feeling of sleepiness was constantly invading them, but they had to stay awake and focus on the task at hand. Folding the bloody blankets.

Fortunately, the pain subsided quickly and he appeared to be improving. The sound of footsteps echoed up the stairs.

“Why are all of you outside, smoothing out the blanket? Don’t you want to take an afternoon nap?” a voice said.

One person couldn’t resist muttering under their breath, “We’re all exhausted, but the class monitor made us work overtime.”

“What on earth is your class monitor thinking?” The instructor exclaimed before bellowing, “Class monitors, step forward!”

Soon, the class monitors from the second and third floors rushed down the stairs.

“What are you all doing? Don’t you know our new comrade didn’t sleep well last night? If he doesn’t rest during noon, how can he train in the afternoon?” the instructor stood at the corridor entrance, his face stern as he scolded the veteran squad leaders.

“Hehe, Instructor, we’re also training them!” a veteran squad leader said with a smile.

“Nonsense, is this how you train? Let them take a lunch break and push back the afternoon exercise class by half an hour!” the instructor replied firmly.

“Yes, sir!” the veteran squad leaders responded in unison, standing at attention and saluting.

Wang Ye squatted silently beside the blanket, holding a small stool as he studied it intently. He was certain that this was the script they were acting out.

“What’s he talking about? The instructor is downstairs, and everyone has been waiting for so long. Why didn’t they come up earlier? Why only now?” Wang Ye wondered.

Moreover, with so many classes doing the same thing simultaneously, Wang Ye refused to believe that it wasn’t premeditated. However, he could tell that it was only because of his life experience. The others here were mostly recent graduates without much life experience.

It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that the instructor’s actions had solidified his reputation as a kind-hearted person. Soon after, Ye Sanshi called Wang Ye and the others back into the dormitory.

“The instructor has addressed the issue today, but don’t think that he will be involved in such matters every day. Additionally, the blankets must be pressed properly. The instructor has no objections to that,” Ye Sanshi said, reminding them of the importance of their tasks.

Ye Sanshi stood in the dormitory, hands behind his back, looking serious. After giving everyone a warning, he finally said, “Alright, let’s take a nap!”

Everyone was relieved to hear those words. “Thank you, class monitor!” Deng Hai exclaimed sincerely, moving quickly to sit on his bed and take off his shoes.

The others followed suit, imitating Deng Hai and thanking Ye Sanshi before quickly getting into bed one by one. “I’m so sleepy,” they murmured as they closed their eyes, finally able to rest.

Wang Ye was no exception. Despite his awakened system, he still needed to sleep and rest. He lay down on his bed and fell asleep almost instantly, dozing off in less than a minute.

Suddenly, a whistle pierced through his slumber. “Get up, get up!” Ye Sanshi’s voice echoed in the dormitory, and the iron beds rattled as he shook them.

“Ahh! Wait… class monitor…just a little longer, just a little longer!” Deng Hai pleaded from his bed next to Ye Sanshi’s.

When Wang Ye opened his eyes, he saw Ye Sanshi standing by Deng Hai’s bed, trying to shake him awake. “Haha, alright!” Ye Sanshi gave a fake smile, agreeing to let Deng Hai sleep a little longer.

This left everyone’s jaws on the floor.

Ye Sanshi picked up his small yellow basin and silently left the dormitory without saying a word.

The commotion caused by the whistle, Ye Sanshi’s shouts, and the rattling of the beds had woken up all the recruits in the fifth squad. However, most of them remained in bed, still sleepy.

Of course, not everyone was still lying down. A few, such as Zhang Ping’an, had started putting on their shoes, while Gu Yingnan had lifted her blanket and was preparing to get out of bed. “Why is the class monitor holding a basin?” he asked, sensing something was off.

“Get up quickly, I have a bad feeling!” Gu Yingnan exclaimed, urging everyone to wake up and get ready.

The other recruits weren’t foolish. They immediately sensed that something was amiss. Why had Ye Sanshi taken the basin?

The probability of it being something good was only 1%. The chances were high that he had taken it to get water.

“Oh no, this can’t be happening. I was just about to doze off again,” Deng Hai groaned in frustration, sensing the impending doom.

Wang Ye looked at Deng Hai and urged him to get up quickly, warning him that he was the likely target of Ye Sanshi’s plan. “If you’re still lying in bed when he comes back, you might get a basin of water poured over you!” he said, trying to spur Deng Hai into action.

Deng Hai shuddered at the thought. Although the temperature was around 26-27 degrees Celsius during the day, it was still winter. If he got drenched with cold water, it would be uncomfortable during the day, and he would be freezing at night. The wet bed and blanket would make it impossible to sleep.

Taking a deep breath, Deng Hai hesitated for a moment before lying back down. “Brothers, I’ll sleep for another ten seconds. Blackface Ye needs time to catch the water,” he said, trying to buy some time.

The other recruits were speechless at Deng Hai’s behavior. What did he think he could achieve with ten seconds of snooze?

“Stop dawdling and get up!” someone urged him as they got dressed.

“Just ten seconds, now!” Deng Hai replied, narrowing his eyes.

The recruit who had advised him was helpless and shook his head, choosing to ignore him.

Fortunately, Deng Hai kept his word. When the ten seconds were up, he immediately sat up.

“I’m up!” Deng Hai announced, rubbing his face before getting out of bed and lifting the blanket.

“You can sleep for another ten seconds. It will take the class monitor at least twenty to thirty seconds to fill that basin with water!” someone joked.

“Forget it, forget it…” Deng Hai replied nervously. He didn’t dare to take the risk that Ye Sanshi would splash water on him if he was still lying in bed when he returned.

Soon, Ye Sanshi returned.

As expected, Ye Sanshi was holding a basin of water in his small yellow basin.

“Oh, why is everyone up?” he asked, feigning surprise. “Don’t you want to take a nap?” he teased Deng Hai. “Why are you getting up? Come on, lie down!”

“Report! I won’t nap anymore,” Deng Hai replied, too scared to do anything else.

“Hehe, it’s okay. I won’t do anything to you even if you nap. Go on, take a nap!” Ye Sanshi smiled like a wolf, enjoying the anticipation of his prank.

Deng Hai wasn’t foolish enough to lie down again. He knew that the basin of water was coming regardless. So, he kept quiet and lowered his head in defeat, resigned to his fate.

“Humph!” Ye Sanshi’s expression suddenly changed. He looked at the recruits and said, “Let me remind you that the army doesn’t tolerate laziness. From now on, whenever the whistle sounds, you must immediately get up.”

“I’ll let you off this time, kid. But there’s always a next time. You can try!” Ye Sanshi then turned to Deng Hai and ordered, “Go pour the water. The rest of you, continue making the bed and folding the blanket.”
