Chapter 178: Tier Three, Nine-Stars
Xiang Ning’s effortless defeat of two prodigies from Aurig Central Academy, one of the top ten schools in the world, was shocking news everywhere. However, the students from the other top schools held only a curious attitude while watching this student from what they considered a low-tier school. They didn’t think Xiang Ning’s victory over the two students was a huge achievement. To them, was that not how fights worked? What was there to be emotional about? They sat and quietly watched Teacher Xiang Ning embarrassing himself—no, teaching—online.
On Aurig Academy’s side, other than Nathan, Natalia, and Sakar, the rest were shocked.
Hmph, a bunch of arrogant idiots. They were the ones who questioned my opinions. Are you going to believe me now? Xiang Ning's fighting style isn’t scientific at all, and his battle experiences were unconventional, too. Does he even act like a new high school student? He seems more like a person who grew up in the wilderness! Sakar privately cussed out his teammates and Xiang Ning. But he didn’t speak up. The best way to avoid being called weak wasn’t to beat his opponent, but also to drag his teammates down. That way he wouldn’t be the focal point.
Monk was utterly unable to stand up, though his eyes were fixed on Xiang Ning. Not out of anger, but out of disbelief and a hint of fear. Throughout the fight, he had been haunted by a feeling; it was as if Xiang Ning could anticipate every move before it happened! The more he thought about it, the more afraid he grew. He had never even felt this way against President Nathan, and not even President Nathan would dare bear the brunt of his attack like this!
When Xiang Ning saw him like that, he smirked without a word. He looked down at Monk, which was worth a thousand words.
Monk took a deep breath and forced himself to stand up. He didn’t dare to look at Xiang Ning and just quietly got off the stage. He arrived before Nathan and hung his head. “I’m sorry, President Nathan.”
It was a simple apology. He didn’t use any excuse; a loss was a loss. It was a devastating loss, too, though he still wanted to remind them, “He has a very strange ability. From the beginning, I felt like I was being watched. It was the feeling of him knowing what you’re going to do next.”
“It’s as if… as if he knows me better than I do!” Monk hung his head and, before anyone reacted, sat slumped in his chair so no one could see his expression.
A strange feeling crept into their hearts. In the beginning, they were only there to have some fun and had scoffed at Sakar's doubts. However, Aiken had immediately been struck down while Monk couldn’t even retaliate. There must be a problem here, right?
Nathan gave a small smile. “Fix the weaknesses he pointed out. If you can rise from this loss, you’ll serve by my side.”Many students admiringly looked at him. Every person from the Aurig Academy understood that Monk had benefited greatly from this visit. Xiang Ning’s pointers were the equivalent of being tutored by a tier seven master.
Very soon, many students looked excited and started to voice their willingness to fight Xiang Ning, but Nathan didn’t allow it. Yes, they would greatly benefit, but any more ‘feedback’ and Aurig Academy’s name would be in the gutter! The future head of the Tulip family couldn’t be humiliated like this.
That was why he personally stood up and walked up to the stage in a magnificent manner, a faint smile on his face. If there wasn’t a history of conflict, many girls would have fallen for his confidence.
The Chosen One, Sod of God... Nathan and his perfect looks lived up to these names. He looked like a person of pure good, solely based on his looks, but the moment he took a step forward, his aura changed. By the time he arrived on stage, the crowd could feel an invisible pressure weighing down on them. It was strange and indescribable, though they understood that this student wasn’t one to be provoked.
“Xiang Ning, be careful. He’s a dual cultivator, with equal spiritual and martial abilities,” reminded Lu Shiyu.
Xiang Ning nodded, noting the hint of reservation in her eyes. A dual cultivator with equal abilities meant that someone had to suppress one aspect until the other improved so that both abilities could level up at the same time. It sounded easy, but was impossible without absolute control.
“Nathan Tulip of Aurig Central Academy, tier three, nine-star spiritual cultivator, tier three, nine-star martial artist. I challenge you to a duel.” Nathan had both arms behind his back and his expression was calm, but his words sent chills across the hall.
“Wow! A tier three, nine-star spiritual cultivator and martial artist? Are we even cultivating in the same universe?”
“How’s that possible? He’s our age! Even if he’s in one of the top ten schools, is it possible he has access to such copious resources? If he does, imagine the reckless luxury!”
To be honest, while Nathan indeed had access to more resources than others, it was still considered normal. His stellar achievements had mostly been from his own effort and talent. Some people were just born talented.
“Wait, he's almost tier four. Can Xiang Ning beat him?”
“What’re you talking about? Xiang Ning struck a Hanwu Academy teacher when he was in tier two, and based on my observation, he’s at least a tier three, one-star martial artist now. Why would he lose?” said a very passionate teenager who didn’t like Nathan at all. Nathan was just a pretty face, nothing else! He definitely wasn’t as good as Teacher Xiang Ning!
However, he was already praying quietly. The gap between both their cultivations was just too wide, and both of them were the strongest fighters of their schools. However, Nathan's school was one of the top in the world.
Xiang Ning didn’t feel the stress, nor did he fear anyone under tier four. He had already spent thirteen seconds running Keen Observation since the moment Nathan had appeared.
What he found odd was… where was this person’s weapon?
