Chapter 167: I Will Regain My Honor
“Wait, Instructor Lei, please hear me out! I was really there to learn!” Xiang Ning shouted in the room.
“Then show me what you’ve learned! I will personally teach you!”
“No wait, really, can’t we solve this diplomatically? Violence is never the answer.”
“Violence may not be the answer, but it is the question. And the answer is always ‘yes’. Come now, don’t you love learning new things? I’m still agile despite my old bones.”
Fucker! Your old bones could still go to war for another fifty years! Xiang Ning knew there would be no escape.
“Don’t be like that, I’ll really retaliate.” He was still trying to talk his way out.
He knew that there was no winning against a tier six martial artist, but still, he would lose with dignity. He was someone that had singlehandedly challenged Hanwu Academy, after all.
“Ok, come on.” Lei Zhongyuan was excited. “There’s no fun in fighting against a tortoise. I prefer fighting against something that can fight back.”
Xiang Ning felt that he had just shot his foot.
“Huhu, come on.” Instructor Lei calmly stood there waiting for him.Keen Observation: Failed
Keen Observation: Failed
Keen Observation: Failed
Xiang Ning was trying to find a weak point, but Lei Zhongyuan thought that he was trying to power up for a big move, so he just stood there too.
Five minutes passed and Xiang Ning was still motionlessly standing there. Lei Zhongyuan scratched his head and said, “If you are not coming to me, I’m coming to you.”
“Wait!” Xiang Ning stopped him. His heart was beating fast as Keen Observation kept failing. The power gap between the two of them was too large. But there was a small chance! Keen Observation was a technique that would have a lower chance of activating if the power gap between the user and target was too large. That said, a lower chance didn’t mean a zero chance!
Another five minutes passed before the corners of instructor Lei’s lips twitched. He chuckled as he walked closer. “Come now, sooner or later you’ll have to face me. Don’t worry, I’ll go easy on you.”
Xiang Ning suddenly squatted down and covered his head. “Instructor Lei, please be gentle.”
What the heck? Lei Zhongyuan felt that he had been played with. He needed some beating. Since he likes learning so much, I’d better teach him a good lesson!
“Let me teach you the Lei clan’s fist technique!”
Keen Observation: Success
Xiang Ning’s eyes immediately lit up as his skill finally succeeded. He looked up and saw the approaching Lei Zhongyuan.
Lei Zhongyuan was full of openings because he thought that Xiang Ning would be a human sandbag. Thus, he didn’t activate any martial techniques or combat skills. In an instant, things changed as he felt like he had been completely seen through. He barely caught on to Xiang Ning trying to strike his forearm. The speed of the strike was so fast that Lei Zhongyuan barely registered it. If he didn’t do anything, it would be a confirmed hit.
But he couldn’t shame himself any longer. Dong Qianyi was watching from the outside; surely, he had been laughing for the past ten minutes. If Xiang Ning were to land a hit here, his image would be ruined. As a tier six martial artist, how could he not have any defensive techniques?
He used brute force to retreat outside of Xiang Ning’s attack range.
“Oh ho, you have a good eye.” Lei Zhongyuan stood up. He was interested now.
......
Ten minutes later, Xiang Ning was laying on the ground. “I’ve bled for the Federation, didn’t I say not to hit my face?”
This is so unfair! I helped at the front line and even killed some beasts! Surely I’ve contributed to the Federation?! I also went there to learn! I’ll remember this and pay you back the day I’m stronger than you. I will regain my honor.
“How’s that? Learn anything?” Lei Zhongyuan pulled him up and patted him on the shoulder. “Usually an instructor would’ve collected ten thousand dollars as a tuition fee.”
Xiang Ning rolled his eyes. Unless I was crazy, I’d never look for you. He walked out of the sparring room alone as Lei Zhongyuan silently stood there.
“Hmph. What a prodigy. In ten minutes, I attacked a hundred and seventy-one times and he actually responded to a hundred and fifty of those. He even managed to negate twenty-four of my attacks and counterattacked seven times. Looks like he’ll have a great future ahead of him.”
Lei Zhongyuan was a peak tier six martial artist. He could fight toe-to-toe with a tier seven Beast King. Even though he hadn’t used his full strength in that match, it was still not at a speed that a tier two could catch on. However, Xiang Ning had managed not only to detect his attacks, but he could even negate some of them and counterattack. Not even those who were at tier eight and nine could have done the same when they were at tier two. In fact, they wouldn’t even have the time to react.
“This may be a golden chance for humanity.” Lei Zhongyuan stared upward, as if he could see through the ceiling and look at the stars.
Xiang Ning, on the other hand, just ate a few healing pills before appearing in Dong Qianyi’s lab.
“Xiang Ning, you just got back?” Alia greeted him. Before he could say anything, she interrupted him. “Now go to that room, that’s your true battlefield.” As she said that, she warmly chuckled.
Xiang Ning saw that she was pointing to the dark room. The door was already open, as if it was waiting for him. “I think I should stay outside here, that way I can at least ask you if I have any questions.” He was still reluctant to go there.
“Hoh, but solitary silence is the best environment for studying, don’t you agree?” From the small dark room, a shadow stepped forward. It was none other than Dong Qianyi. He stood under a small light, with half of his glasses reflecting white light while the other half was covered in darkness. It was creepy.
“That… when can I come out? It’s already so late, can’t we do this tomorrow?” Xiang Ning was struggling for the last time. He could have used his Fury Points to understand the contents of the books without entering the dark room.
Only he knew that, if he entered there, it would be at least three hours before he could come out. Sometimes the two of them were so focused on their research that they would forget about him. Even if he immediately learned the information, he still couldn’t come out!
