Chapter 100: The Maine Alliance Sets Out
Chapter 100: The Maine Alliance Sets Out
"Everyone, Lord Thor is right; this is our opportunity. Therefore, I've decided to follow Lord Thor to the North for the cleansing mission."
As Jas Aubi spoke, the previously silent crowd couldn't help but shift their gazes toward him.
"Jas, you?"
Saatchi looked at Jas Aubi with shock, words hanging in the air, unspoken.
The three barons, however, merely furrowed their brows slightly without saying a word.
"Saatchi, esteemed Barons, this is our chance. As for the brutality of the kingdom's wars, there's no need for others to elaborate. Baron Pape, as a member of the Lawrence family, you should know better than I do. Given the current strength of our territories, if we fail to improve rapidly in the next two years, the losses we might face could be unbearable."
"This mission is dangerous, but not exceedingly so. The kingdom’s Dragon Knight Corps and Marquis Raymond's Flying Eagle Knight Corps are our shields. They've taken on the truly powerful orc tribes. The ones we need to face are merely first-tier, at most second-tier orc tribes. One territory alone may struggle to handle it, but six territories combined can certainly manage."
Jas Aubi’s gaze fell on Pape Lawrence as he spoke again, his words stirring a strange light in the eyes of the others, who all cast a glance at Pape Lawrence.
"Huff!"
"I’m also willing to participate. Everyone, Lord Jas is right; the scale of the kingdom's war is beyond imagination. We must seize this opportunity."
As everyone looked at him, Pape Lawrence deeply regarded Jas Aubi before nodding in agreement.
As Jas Aubi mentioned, he understood the scale of the kingdom’s wars and their brutality.
In comparison, while there was some risk now, it was nothing in the grand scheme of things.
"Since you both say so, count me in as well!"
Baron Graton took a deep breath and nodded.
This left only Saatchi and Baron Valmy.
Everyone’s gaze focused on them.
"I’ll join as well!"
After a moment of hesitation, Saatchi also nodded.
"Seems like I have no choice then!"
Baron Valmy smiled bitterly.
At this point, with four out of five agreeing, if he refused, he would essentially be isolating himself.
Besides, he wasn’t foolish. Jas Aubi and Pape Lawrence's words made him clearly aware of the massive danger lurking within the kingdom's war.
"Since everyone has made their decision!"
"Then we should inform Lord Thor!"
Pape Lawrence nodded.
No one opposed this.
But just as they were about to act, the door was knocked.
"Come in!"
Pape Lawrence frowned but still responded.
He knew that under such circumstances, his servants wouldn't disturb him unless it was important.
A knock now clearly meant something significant had happened.
Creak!
The wooden door opened.
A servant walked in.
"Master, Baron Thor from the Eagle Ridge has sent a letter."
The servant respectfully announced.
"Lord Thor?"
Pape Lawrence was momentarily surprised, and the others were curious as well.
Curiosity aside, no one spoke.
After glancing around, Pape Lawrence wasted no time opening the letter.
The others watched curiously.
However, only moments later, Pape Lawrence’s expression shifted to one of disbelief as he abruptly raised his head.
"This...?"
Words escaped his lips as Pape Lawrence couldn’t contain the shock within.
"What happened?"
"Baron Pape, what's going on?"
Baron Graton couldn’t help but ask, and the others’ gazes focused on him as well.
"Take a look for yourselves!"
"Your territories should have received the same letter."
Seeing the confusion in everyone’s eyes, Baron Pape hesitated for a moment before handing the letter over.
Valmy was the first to take it.
His reaction mirrored Pape’s.
As the letter passed from one leader to the next, none of them could remain calm.
"Gulp, Baron Pape, you’re saying Lord Thor...?"
Baron Graton felt his throat dry up, unable to help but ask.
"Could it be that there’s a third-level mage involved?"
Baron Valmy was more direct.
"I’m not sure."
"Logically speaking, the Dresrosa family shouldn't have the strength to possess a third-level mage."
Pape Lawrence shook his head, looking confused.
As a fellow count family, Pape Lawrence began to wonder if his own family was too weak or if they were simply underestimated.
How could the gap be so vast?
"We’ll find out soon enough when we arrive!"
Jas Aubi's eyes flickered as he spoke decisively.
"Yes, we’ll know when we get there!"
"If it's true, we might actually have a chance!"
Hearing his words, the others' eyes lit up, with Baron Graton unable to contain his excitement.
Quickly, the five of them set off.
Their destination: the Eagle Ridge.
One day later.
The five arrived at the Eagle Ridge.
Upon arrival, their pupils couldn’t help but contract, and their expressions were filled with shock.
Because, in their sight, the Eagle Ridge was indeed home to quite a number of goblins.
Some goblins were even transporting heavy items.
This scene.
The earlier speculations seemed to be turning into reality.
"You don’t suppose Lord Thor has hired a third-level mage from the Habsburg Chamber of Commerce, do you?"
Saatchi muttered to himself.
