Chapter 36 Easy Prey?
Crackle.
The wooden trapdoor in the floor of the massive hut opened as a young man in a long, partially torn coat stepped outside. His gaze was calm, but his heart was eager to meet new adventures as soon as possible.
"Agh... I thought this place would disappear, but I seem to have misunderstood the way Chaos works." Zayne muttered with a calm look, exhaling cold steam as he looked toward the exit of the hut. Standing next to it were two men, they were simple soldiers in leather armor, armed with spears.
In a few steps, Zayne was beside them, emerging from the hut as the bright sun illuminated his face with bright rays, preparing to leave soon for sunset.
"What...?!" The soldier flinched in surprise as he pointed his spear at Zayne, but quickly realized it wasn't the enemy, "Agh... Do I imagine things? Zayne Fellen, is it really you? I was told you were dead!"
Crackle.
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ His buddy punched him in the side and with a frown said, "Are you an idiot? He's a Traveler! Don't you know they can't completely die, though... it's still weird. Aren't you supposed to appear in the village?"
Zayne remained silent before answering, "Yeah... It was going to be that way, but Chaos thwarted me. By the way, what happens to this place? I mean, will this village and the caves stay here forever?"
The soldiers looked at each other, nodded, and the second one said, "It doesn't happen all at once. Chaos' powers have dried up, so now this village will slowly disappear. For an area this size, it will take a few days for things to return to normal."
"I see..." Zayne nodded looking at the hut in the distance that was partially destroyed, but it didn't happen during the battle, as if the hut was just disappearing. Zayne looked at the soldier with a questioning look, "Do you know where Roland, Aron, Harald, and the others are? Did they tell you something?"
"Agh, sure." The soldier nodded, "Before they left, they said they would wait for you to come back. I don't know for sure, but I think they are at Mr. Aron's. You're back sooner than they expected, so if you head into the village you can definitely meet them."
"Fine, then I will. Thank you for your help." Zayne muttered with a calm look before moving forward.
The soldiers watched Zayne's departing back with eyes filled with respect. They knew what had happened in the caves, the fate of the knights horrifying them, but that was why they were so admired for what Zayne had done.
"Damn... This guy is so young, but he fought like the bravest warrior... I'd like to believe that I could do the same, but I realize that if I were to face a Terror Grade Monster I could not even take a step for fear..." The soldier mumbled with a bitter smile.
"Yeah, I agree. Elin said that that monster was indescribably strong, well, we should try to accomplish a similar feat someday too." His mate said as fire lit in his eyes.
Zayne stopped in the middle of the village, sighed, and looked around, "Damn, where did I come from? I guess from that hill, right?"
Crackle.
"ARGGHHHH!!!" Suddenly there was a pained scream from the north from one of the soldiers.
"What the hell...?" Zayne was puzzled for a moment, then his gaze became serious as he ran forward. He had to find out what happened there, because if the Chaos forces had returned, only he could protect the soldiers.
...
"What's going on...? Why did they show up here?!" The soldier exclaimed, holding his spear in front of him with trembling hands, looking at the three silhouettes ahead.
"Shit... Where did the bandits come from...?" The wounded Soldier muttered holding onto a wide cut on his side, "Wait, they're not bandits, they're Travelers!!!"
"What...?" The soldier muttered as his eyes went wide.
"Ahahaha, idiots, did you really only realize that now?!" The guy in the armor stepped forward as an evil smirk appeared on his face, "You may be simple soldiers, but you're a lot easier to kill than the monsters in the forest!"
"But... why are you doing this?!" The wounded Soldier shouted with a frightened expression, "We may be from different worlds, but we are not your enemies! We are equals and must unite to oppose the forces of Chaos!"
"Pfff, what the hell are you talking about?" The girl behind the guy in the blue magic robe snorted, "You're just mobs, nothing more. Don't blame us, just blame this world for being so cruel. Killing you is just a good way to get stronger, quick, easy, and safe."
"Hey, enough talk." The guy in the dark clothes with the two daggers frowned, "They might not have the commander or that crazy doctor with them, but we have to deal with these soldiers before backup comes."
"Sure. I'm already up to attack!" The girl exclaimed, pointing her staff at the second Soldier. The blue crystal on the staff glowed brightly as if a magical projectile was going to burst out of it at any moment.
Tap.
"Ouch!" Suddenly a regular rock flew into her shoulder, causing her to shriek in pain and cancel the spell cast.
"Hm? Who did this?" The guy in the armor looked at the soldiers, but quickly realized it wasn't them, then he turned his head to the left.
"No way..." The guy in the dark clothes muttered in disbelief as a shiver ran through his body as he saw the familiar silhouette that had quickly become the most popular figure in Fallen Fate Online.
"Who the fuck are you?" Zayne spoke with an ice-cold stare, intensely looking at them. His gaze was intimidating, sending chills down their backs.
The Soldiers' eyes flashed brightly as one of them muttered with a slight smile, "Hah, Fate is actually with us, we're saved..."
The guy in the dark clothes took a few steps with his eyes wide open, "Zayne Fellen... It's you, it's really you! Why are you here?! You didn't go back to the village with the others, so you had to die during the battle!"
"Yeah... It was exactly like you said. I actually died, but so what?" Zayne tilted his head arrogantly, "Why are you attacking innocent soldiers? Are you really that weak?"
The players had many questions since they didn't understand why Zayne revived so quickly or why he showed up here, but then it didn't matter as sly smirks appeared on their faces.
"Hah, I don't really understand what's going on here, but today is definitely our day!" The guy in the armor exclaimed in excitement, "We are here to kill soldiers, however, we will defeat Zayne Fellen himself!"
Whoooooooooosh.
The guy plunged his sword into the ground as it shone brightly with a golden glitter as well as his armor, which became much stronger. The others also prepared for battle.
"Mr. Zayne! I will help you!" The soldier exclaimed.
"No need." Zayne shook his head, "I can handle these bastards myself."
"Hah, you underestimate us!" The girl smirked, pointing her staff at him, "You may have lit up a few times, but it's only been one day! You couldn't get stronger than us in such a short period!"
"Well... Maybe you're right, so how about we check it out? Right here, right now." Zayne said coldly with a devouring stare as a sword with a red blade appeared in his hand that emitted the smell of blood.
